Tristen: Hello folks and thank you for joining me here on the Big Hit!

My name is Tristen

Borland, a fan of the gridiron and lover of hearing my own voice. Trades are a beautiful thing in

the world of sports. They can make dynasties and topple empires, just look at the Herchel

Walker trade back in 1989! The year 2020 is just as full of trades that have caused teams to

bounce back, and some that left us scratching our heads. With that, I want to dive into the

2019-2020 trades and see how they have panned out so far this season.

The first one to talk about, especially for Yinzers, is the trade between my beloved Steelers and

the Miami Dolphins back in September of 2019. This trade had the Steelers giving up their 1st

round pick in 2020 and their 5/6th round picks for a 4th round pick in 2020 and a 7th round pick

in 2021. I feel that this trade was a win for both teams due to the Steelers having a shutdown

safety now, and Minkah now being on a winning team. The Dolphins used this pick to draft USC

OT Austin Jackson so that they could protect their new franchise QB.

A trade that made not much sense to me was the trade that went on between Denver and

Jaxsonville. Denver ended up with defensive back A.J. Bouye, and Jaxsonville received a 4th

round pick. Personally, I would not have given up A.J. for only a 4th round pick, I would have

asked for a little bit more to be honest. This means that Denver received a great defensive

player for pennies on the dollar.

Another team that walked away with a real steal is the Buffalo Bills walking away with Stefon

Diggs from Minnesota on the 18th of March. These guys have an amazing player and only gave

the purple people eaters a 1st/5th/6th pick in 2020 and a 2021 4th round pick. Diggs has 63

receptions and 813 yards so far this season, and in 4 of those games, he had over 100
receiving yards. This was a win for the Bills Mafia and I would argue that Diggs is really helping

Josh Allen evolve as a QB.

This trade is a bit long, so bear with me, but the trade between Baltimore and Jacksonville was

a true win for the Ravens. Now there was never actually an agreement between Baltimore and

the Jags, but whenever Defensive end Yannick Ngakuoe was traded to Minnistota, I thought it

was a win for the purple people eaters, and a win for Ngakuoe. The Jags are known for not

being too great with players and Minnisota wanted to get back to the NFC playoff picture. Yet,

there is one team that felt that a better defense was needed for their AFC playoff hopes. The

Ravens felt that Ngakuoe was just what their defensive line needed. So, technically the Jags

were given more 2021 draft picks to build their sad franchise, the Vikings actually lost draft

spots due to their trade, and now the Ravens are playoff contenders with their offense and

defense. Ravens win, Jags win, but Vikings lose from this trade.

Those are all the big trades that we have time to talk about today folks, thank you again for

joining me here. Once again, my name is Tristen Borland and that is all the time I have. But,

stick around as we have more amazing sports segments here on IUP TV’s The Big Hit
