Process of Pledging Shares under Pledge Model- Margin Trading Facility

As per the SEBI guidelines, with effect from September 01, 2020, in order to continue
holding positions in Margin Trading beyond T+2 days, a New Pledge model has been
mandated which will soon be Live at ICICIdirect. As per this model, you will have to pledge
your shares in favor of I-Sec to avail securities limits by means of OTP authentication
process.

Below is the process of Margin Trading

For Customers who created a fresh position in Margin Trading

Step-1: When you will create any fresh position in Margin Trading, you will receive a link on
your Mobile Number and E-Mail Id registered with the depositories at the end of that day.

Step-2. Open the link received from the Depositories. Select the stocks on which you want
to confirm your Pledge and submit. The link will take you to NSDL/CDSL website:

Step-4. After logging in through your Demat account no. or PAN no., you will find the details
of your Pledge request there. Select the final stocks you want to proceed with Pledging and
click on ‘Generate OTP’
You will receive OTP on your registered Mobile number. Enter the OTP to provide your
confirmation, click on ‘Submit’ and you are done!

To check the status of your Margin Trading pledge requests – Login into your account, click
on Equity and go to ‘Pending for delivery’ tab under Open Positions page. You will see
following remarks as the status of your requests:

 Not Initiated – You have not created any pledge request/ no action to Pledge has
been taken from your end on the position
 Pledge Created – You have successfully pledged your shares
 Pledge Requested – You have created a pledge request by providing OTP
confirmation but Pledge Creation is pending

For customers with Existing Margin Trading Positions when the model goes Live

In case you have existing Margin Trading positions on the day of launch of the new model,
similar steps as mentioned above will have to be followed. A link will be sent to the
customers with existing open positions in Margin Trading by the Depositories to create
Pledge of their Margin Trading shares and the rest of the process will follow as given above.
