Problem statement:

South Sudan is currently the newest country in the world after getting its independence in the year 2011 from Sudan after 21 years of battle in
the process of becoming independent.

Following two years of being independent, it went back to war in 2013.after some political leaders realized that the current ruling party was not
treating people equally, they believed that, there was much, tribalism, sectarism, favoritism and corruption and bad governance hence the
attempted coup resulting into destabilization of the country health system till now.

Current war has made the government to allocate less resources for example money to cater for health since much of the finances are being
diverted to buying military weapons such as big guns to fight the opposition government resulting to poor health system.

Poor health system affects the quality of health services delivery, leading to high mortality and morbidity within the civil population, poor health
system results into poor public health activities, which are usually indicated by poor sanitation and preventive services for example in Yei state.

According to WHO (2017), the worsening security situation in South Sudan, along with increased population movement, reduced health system
functionality, disruption of health services, surveillance, outbreak response systems, and other disease control measures, led to increases risk and
vulnerability to more frequent disease outbreaks.

According to Divin Barutranayo ICRC deputy health coordinator, Jan 2018 report, seventy percent of deaths in South Sudan are caused by
curable diseases such as malaria, respiratory tract infections and diarrhea. The country also has one of the highest maternal and child mortality
rates in the world.

Statement needs:
The long term vision of BHBL is to see that the people of Yei live a healthy lives through improvement in health and general sanitation services
of the area hence this NGO is looking forward to managing, poor sanitation related problems, management of other health problem such as
communicable and non-communicable diseases by:

Improvement in the health facility case management strength by impacting more education programs.

Improving on the human resource to back up the present government staff on the ground.

Improving the the maternal and child health services in the area for example improving ANC services to all the women of child bearing age and
working on EPI services.

Building the capacities of the health care providing training to impact more knowledge and skills.

By providing capacity building trainings to on ground staff.

Improving in the referral system for example from the grass root to the higher health management centres by improvement on the
communication systems.

Improvement in the WASH (water and sanitation hygiene) services of Yei state by providing access to clean water, hygiene promotion on proper
waste disposal, and providing sanitary equipment to the community members.

Ngo goals:

To ensure people get access to quality health care services.

To ensure maternal and child service are improved

Reducing maternal and child mortality cases BY 40% within 3 years.
