Discrimination

is treating a person unfairly because of who they are or because they possess certain
characteristics. In this case, a person have been treated differently from other people only because of
who they are or because they possess certain characteristics. Discrimination strikes at the very heart of
being human. It is harming someone’s rights simply because of who they are or what they believe.
Discrimination is harmful and perpetuates inequality. It is associated with prejudice. Prejudices are
caused when one group thinks they are better than another because they lack the qualities that are
similar to a certain group.

We all have the right to be treated equally, regardless of our race, ethnicity, nationality, class, caste,
religion, belief, sex, gender, language, sexual orientation, gender identity, sex characteristics, age, health
or other status. Yet all too often we hear heartbreaking stories of people who suffer cruelty simply for
belonging to a “different” group from those in positions of privilege or power.

Discrimination occurs when a person is unable to enjoy his or her human rights or other legal rights on
an equal basis with others because of an unjustified distinction made in policy, law or treatment. For
many people discrimination is an everyday reality. Discriminating a person may cause heath issue, why?
because literally it makes them sick, look down to theirselves, and lead them in hatred. It also affects
people's opportunities and their well-being, exposure to discrimination can lead them to manifest in
shame, low self-esteem,fear and stress, as well as poor health. Moreover, being discriminate can be an
impact on mental health which leads to depression. Some of people who experience discrimination that
makes them depress is most likely to have the suicidal thoughts, or ended up suiciding because they
can't control their emotions. So, in this case the only way to stop discrimination is to implement proper
laws and protect human rights at the government level. In turn, the society must support victims of
discrimination, helping them to cope with consequences, as well as to integrate in the society. Just
respect cultural and racial differences. Refuse to initiate and condone discrimination and harassment.
Like what they said "Equality is not a luxury, it is a requirement. "
