Reaction Paper:
1. How does the process of freelancer job improve your knowledge about BPO?
The process of freelancing lets me know that just like in BPO, your experience in the
industry, academic background and areas of expertise plays a vital role. These are the significant
factors towards attracting clients online, and will be the clients’ basis on whether they will offer
you the job/project or not. By knowing freelancing, it also improves my knowledge that
outsourcing doesn’t limit to BPO companies, many companies are also outsourcing their business
functions to self-employed freelancers online. Lastly, this process also showed me that
freelancing shared the same objectives with the BPO, as well as the main benefits that they give
to the clients: decrease labor cost and increase in business productivity. However, they differ on
the reliability of the service vendor/freelancer where they outsource their non-core functions.
2. What is your opinion about freelancer job? Will it help you in the near future? And why?
Freelancing is a good job opportunity not just for people with degree but also for those
people who have the necessary skills needed by the client/company, even though they didn’t
graduate in college. Freelancing is also good for people who only want to work for at least 2
hours per day, depending on the contract prepared by the client. With this, it allows the
freelancers to enjoy the rest of their day with their family and friends. Freelancing is also a home
based work, which means you can save more money from fares and allowances.
My knowledge about freelancing can help me in the future, considering the given
situations that competition among fresh graduates is very high, and many companies are now
outsourcing their non-core business functions. Freelancing will be my part-time or full-time job
in the future. I’m also an introvert type of person, so working alone won’t be a problem for me.
