Orientation to IET

Only submit one WORD document that contains your typed answers to the questions on
Exam One. Do not submit a different WORD document for each answer.

Complete instructions for properly answering the questions on this Exam are explained in
detail in the Course Syllabus on the course D2L page. You should read those instructions
carefully before you answer the following questions. Failure to follow the specific
instructions in the Course Syllabus will significantly reduce your grade on this
exam.

Type your answers into one Microsoft WORD document. Submit your WORD
document in the correct Exam Assignment Folder If the Exam Assignment Folder is
closed then attach your WORD document to an email and transmit your email to the
following email address:

The exam late penalty will be based on the time and date stamp placed on your email by
your email provider when it is transmitted. The late penalty is not negotiable.
Explaining why you are submitting your exam late will not change the late penalty.
If you ask for the late penalty to be reduced or to be waived then you will lose 3 points
off your final average grade at the end of the semester and this is in addition to the
normal late penalty for submitting your exam late.

Select and answer any TWO of the following three questions. You may begin your
answer with a very brief summary of the concept mentioned in the question but at least
70% of your answer should be an explanation of how that concept is applied to the
company specified in the question. Your answer must include internet references.

Question One: Completely and thoroughly explain how Statistical Quality Control
was used by any company that makes any type of musical instrument that can be
played by one person, such as a guitar or a piano or a trumpet. Your answer should
contain a significant amount of information and details about how Statistical Quality
Control was beneficial in the design, or production, or distribution of a musical
instrument.

Question Two: Completely and thoroughly explain how Total Product Costing could
be used in any company that makes any type of food product that is eaten by people
that contains any type of wheat in order to determine how to establish the price of one
of the items they sell so that the price of that item includes all their costs, such as labor,
materials, and overhead costs, and that price allows the company to earn a reasonable and
acceptable profit.

Question Three: Completely and thoroughly explain how the selection of a new piece of
Equipment reduced the total costs or improved the manufacturing process of any
company that makes any type of farm equipment such as a farm tractor, or a
shovel, hoe, rake, pick, or post hole digger that can be used manually. Your answer
should contain a significant amount of information and details about how the new
Equipment reduced the cost or improved the production of the farm equipment.
