 You lead through two-way
communication

 SITUATION
 All situations are different. What you do
in one leadership situation will not
always work in another situation.
KNOW yourself
 Strengths and weaknesses of your character,
knowledge, and skills.

KNOW human nature


 example: Human needs, emotions,
how people respond to stress

KNOW you job


 Be proficient and be able to train others in their
tasks

KNOW your organizational structure


 Where to go for help, its climate and culture

DO provide direction
 Goal-setting, problem-solving, decision-making,
planning

DO implement
 Communicating, coordinating, supervising,
evaluating
DO motivate
 Develop moral and esprit in the organization, train,
coach, counsel
