Before You Begin

This guide describes the new features, known issues, and workarounds for the
Foxboro Evo™ Control Software v7.1.1 (the Control Software), which
contains components including the following:
• Foxboro Evo Control HMI (Control HMI)
• Access Manager
• Foxboro Evo Control Editors (Control Editors)

Revision Information
For this revision of this document, these changes were made:
Chapter 3, “The Control Software v7.1.1 Installation Overview”
• Updated the section “The Control Software Updates” on page 18.
• Added the section “Field Device Manager Installation” on page 19.

Purpose
The purpose of these release notes is to document new features, user notes,
known issues and workarounds, and issues resolved for Control Software
v7.1.1.
The restrictions are limitations, put in place temporarily, in order to address
incomplete functionality or features of the product. If these restrictions are not
understood, they could potentially allow you to access or generate corrupt data,
or result in abnormal installation or termination of Control Software v7.1.1.
User notes contain information on how the product functions and helpful hints
that may not be evident from the product’s associated user guide. User notes
can also contain issues that you need to be aware of when using the product.
Similar to restrictions, known issues represent temporary deficiencies in the
product. Frequently, these types of issues result from incomplete functionality
in the product.
Workarounds provide a means of bypassing a known issue and enabling you to
perform an operation that would otherwise be prohibited or difficult to execute.

New Features

This chapter describes the new features included in Control Software v7.1.1.
To review a list of features released with the Control Software v7.1 or earlier
refer to the Control Software v7.1 Release Notes (B0750ST).

2.1 New Features in Foxboro Evo Control

Software v7.1.1

2.1.1 Support for FDC280 Functionality

Control Software v7.1.1 now supports the following FDC280 functionalities:
• Configuration and deployment of FDC 280 Serial Ports and Protocol
handler drivers for Serial ports.
• Configuration and deployment of Diagnostic driver for debugging
interfacing issues with any I/O device connected to the FDC280.
For more details, refer to these documents:
• Control Database Deployment User’s Guide (B0750AJ)
• Block Configuration User’s Guide (B0750AH)
• Field Device Controller 280 (FDC280) User’s Guide (B0750GQ)

2.1.1.1 Change to FDC280 Device Options Behavior

Control Software v7.1.1 changes the way Device Options are handled when
more than 32 characters are entered. In previous versions of Control Software,
the Device Options parameter in the Device ECB201’s Detail Display and
System Manager Equipment Info would display “XML”. As of Control
Software v7.1.1, the Device Options parameter now displays the first 29
characters of the Device Options text along with trailing “...” character
appended to their end to indicate additional characters not displayed. This
change causes Modbus/TCP Client Driver 1.0 on FDC280 software revision
0900010000, or earlier, to report a configuration validation error that will
prevent the Device from going Online.

Control Software v7.1.1 Release Notes – B0750SV Rev C

4 2. New Features

If your FDC280 is software revision 0900010000, or earlier, and has an

ECB201 Device Option having more than 32 characters, you can work around
this by using any one of the following methods:
• Remove any unnecessary Device Options to reduce the length to 32
characters or less. Any device option that is using the default value can be
removed. For example, if option "+TO=5" is specified, it can be removed
because it is specifying the default time out value of 500ms.
• Update the FDC280 image to a software revision later than 0900010000
that has a fix to correctly handle the new behavior of Control Software
v7.1.1.
• Add the Bypass Configuration Validation (+BPCV) option to the Device
ECB201. This will allow Modbus/TCP Client Driver 1.0 to accept the new
Control Software v7.1.1 behavior, but it will also relax the amount of input
validation of the configuration parameters.

2.1.2 Bulk Graphic Editor Tag Report Summary

XML
A new XML Summary report file has been added to the Tag Report Command.
This summary file can be sorted and filtered using a third-party application like
Microsoft® Excel. For more details, refer to the Tag report command
information in The Bulk Graphics Editor User’s Guide (B0750CT).

2.1.3 Bulk Graphic Editor GPI Report

A Graphic Performance Index (GPI) Report command has been added to the
Bulk Graphic Editor (BGE). The GPI report generates detailed and summary
reports of selected graphics. The summary report lists the Graphics and their
GPI score. The detailed report contains the graphic's GPI score, as well as a
detailed list and count of elements that make up the graphics, and contribute to
their GPI scores. For more details, refer to the GPI Report command
information in The Bulk Graphics Editor User’s Guide (B0750CT).

2.1.4 Bulk Graphic Editor Overview Report

An Overview Report command has been added to the Bulk Graphic Editor
(BGE). The Overview report will run all BGE report types on the selected
Graphics. The command also generates a combined report that show all of the
summary information from each of the reports. For more details, refer to the
Overview Report command information in The Bulk Graphics Editor User’s
Guide (B0750CT).

Known Issues and

Workarounds

This chapter describes known issues and workarounds of the Control Software
v7.1.1.
Similar to restrictions, known issues represent temporary deficiencies in the
product. Frequently, these types of issues result from incomplete functionality
of the product.
When applicable, the workarounds are also given for the known issues in this
chapter. Workarounds provide a means of bypassing a known issue, enabling
you to perform an operation that would otherwise be prohibited or difficult to
execute.

5.1 Field Device Manager

5.1.1 Profibus Workshop

Issue: In Profibus FDM workshop systems, opening Devices configured under

Softing PROFIdtm V2.20 can cause ArchestrA IDE to crash.
Description: In Windows 10 and Server 2016 Profibus FDM Workshop systems, opening
Devices configured under Softing PROFIdtm V2.20 Communication DTM
causes a crash when the "Run FDT 1.2x DTMs in a separate process" option
is selected. This problem is not observed when the "Run FDT 1.2x DTMs in a
separate process" option is not selected. This is not an issue on Windows 7 or
Server 2008.
Workaround: On Windows 10 and Server 2016 Profibus FDM Workshop systems, uncheck
the "Run FDT 1.2x DTMs in a separate process" option under User
Preferences when Softing PROFIdtm V2.20 is used in the configuration.

Additional Resolution for

AlarmServer

If Alarm Server stops running without any obvious reason (like closing
Control HMI on console session), apply the below procedure to detect and
restart Alarm Server automatically.

A.1 Determine the Control HMI Application

Type
1. If using the standalone application, use the InTouch Application Manager
to open the WindowMaker.
2. If using the managed application, launch ArchestrA IDE and connect to
the Galaxy. Open the $ControlHMI template that is currently
used/deployed to Operator stations by navigating to Template Toolbox >
Galaxy Node > Control HMI node. The template may be
$ControlHMI_v6 (or) $ControlHMI_v61 (or) $ControlHMI_v62.

A.2 Configure Application Script While

Running
1. From WindowMaker, open the Application script by double-clicking
Application in the Scripts view panel.
