----- - --- - - - - -
1. All DL380 servers arrive from HP one 300 GB Hard drive with an HP SMART Array P410i RAID controller
installed. They come configured as RAID 0. Every V90 server that is configured and shipped will have a second
P0928EC 300 GB hard drives added and configured with the first hard drive as a RAID 1 configuration. Every
V90 server will have a minimum of four (4) P0928HC 600GB hard drives added and configured as RAID 5
arrays with a single hot spare. This hot spare is not shared between the RAID 1 and the RAID 5 arrays.
2. P0903AN Label instructions:
a. Two processor P0903AN labels (item 26) are to be printed as per 10119SJ with the V-code, Style/Rev,
and serial numbers. The 2” x 2” portions of one label are to be affixed to the top of the processor unit as
illustrated in the placement diagrams. The second label is to be placed on the processor’s shipping container. In
addition, one blank, 2” x 2” P0903AN label (item 26) is to be affixed to the top of the processor unit, just beside
the “data” label, as illustrated in the placement diagram.
b. A third P0903AN shall be printed out with the Microsoft down edition COA license as per instruction on
J0201FQ.
3. The following FOXBORO logos are to be placed on the processor; P0971QF (item 27)
For all label placements, refer to the “Logo and Label Placement” diagrams on pictures of the server
4. Place all of the required V90 Invensys part numbered optical restore media and manufacturing kits, and user
documents into the processor’s shipping carton. This includes the following listed items:
H. Do not install DIMMs if the corresponding processor is not installed. All V90 machines ship out with either
48 GB of RDIMM memory when a single processor is used. The V90 ships out with 96 GB of RDIMM
memory when two processors are used.
I. If only one processor is installed in a 2CPU system, only half of the DIMM slots are available
J. To maximize performance, balance the total memory capacity between all installed processors
K. It is not required, but it is recommended to load the channels similarly if possible
L. If any Quad rank DIMMs are installed, all channels are limited to only 2 DIMMs per channel.
M. You can only install two quad-rank DIMMs per channel
N. You can only install two UDIMMs per channel; if available, the third slot in the channel must remain empty
O. Populate DIMMs from heaviest load (quad-rank) to lightest load (single-rank) within a channel
P. Heaviest load (DIMM with most ranks) within a channel goes furthest from the chipset
Q. If mixing DIMM voltage is a requirement, please note that the DIMMs will run at 1.5V since all 1.35V are
capable of supporting 1.5V operations
Note: The memory slot locations are indicated on the underside of the top cover of the server
Notes: 1. The CPU and BIOS can be verified during setup (Press F during boot).
2. HP SMART Array firmware can be verified using RAID configuration utility. (Press F8 during boot.)

TO CONFIGURE/BUILD A RAID:
The V90 consists of two independent logical drives. A RAID1 array (C: drive) that is dedicated to the operating
system and a RAID5 with hot spare array (D: drive) for the virtual machine operating systems. To build and
configure a RAID array you must enter the Option ROM Configuration for Arrays (ORCA) utility. To enter the
ORCA utility press the F8 key immediately after the HP SMART Array P410i Controller Initializing message has
completed during POST of the boot process. The ORCA main menu appears (see Figure 2-2), enabling you to
create, view, or delete a logical drive.
(Loading the operating system notes are continued on the next sheet)
1. Use the arrow keys to select View Logical Drive, then press <Enter>.
2. Press the <ESC> key to return.
3. If any logical drives exist on the system, delete them as described the next section
1. Use the arrow keys to select Delete Logical Drive, and then press <Enter>.
2. Press <F8> key to delete the logical drive.
3. Press <F3> key to delete the logical drive.
4. Press the <ESC> key to cancel.
5. If you select <F3> to delete the logical drive, the configuration will be saved. Then press the <Enter> key to
return to the main menuIf you select <F3> to delete the logical drive, the configuration will be saved. Then
press the <Enter> key to return to the main menu
1. From the main menu, use the arrow keys to select Create Logical Drive, and press <Enter>. A page with
several boxed sections appears. In the “Available Physical Drives” section, use the Spacebar to select
(mark with an “X”) only the first two 300 GB drives listed as Bay 1 and Bay 2. Use the Spacebar to un-mark
the remainder of the drives.
2. With these two drives marked, use the <Tab> key to move to the RAID Configurations section of the page.
Using the Spacebar, select (mark with an “X”) the RAID 1 + 0 selection. Press <Enter>.
3. Press F8 to confirm the settings and save the new configuration. The screen flashes “Saving
Configuration”.
4. Once the configuration is saved, press <Enter> to continue.
1. From the main menu, use the arrow keys again to select Create Logical Drive, and press <Enter>.
2. In the “Available Physical Drives” section, use the Spacebar to select (mark with an “X”) all but one of the
remaining drives.
3. Use the <Tab> key to select the “RAID Configurations” section and select RAID 5.
4. Use the <Tab> key to select the “Spare” section and press the Spacebar. This marks the last drive of the
array as a hot spare. In the “Available Physical Drives” section, an “S” appears next to the drive designated
as the hot spare.
5. Press <Enter> and then press F8 to save the configuration. The screen flashes “Saving Configuration”.
6. Once the configuration is saved, press <Enter> to continue.
7. Review the changes. Select View Logical Drives. The “Available Logical Drives” screen appears. Two
logical drives should display:
8. Logical Drive #1, RAID 1+0, 279.4 GB, OK
9. Logical Drive #2, RAID 5, ####.#GB, with online spare, OK
10. Press <ESC> to exit.
Proceed as follows:
1. Turn on the monitor.
2. Turn on the computer and watch the display when prompted. Press F11 Default Boot Override Option. This
starts the boot order menu.
3. Insert the Restore optical media for your V90 Hyper-V Host (refer to part number in Bill of Materials).
5. When the computer boots from the DVD restore media, a blue background “command prompt” window appears
with the following text:
Windows Server 2008 Enterprise
For Embedded Systems
HYPER-V Host OS

DO YOU WANT TO CONTINUE?
N = No - Abort and Exit
Y = Restore WS08 HVH Image
8. When the green screen appears, remove the DVD media, move the cursor to the green window, and press
<Enter> to reboot the station.
NOTE:
If the station fails to reboot after pressing <Enter>, type the following in the green command prompt and
press <Enter>.
wpeutil reboot
Wait two to three minutes to allow the V90 to “plug and play” the add-in cards, then shut down and
restart the V90 before proceeding to the next section. This action will complete the “You must restart
you computer to apply these changes”.
To configure the local disk drives for the V90’s virtual machines, proceed as follows:
1. On the V90’s desktop, right-click the Computer icon and select Manage. The Server Manager window
opens.
2. In the left-hand column, expand Storage and select Disk Management.
3. When the Disk Management page opens, the Initialize Disk dialog box appears. See Figure 2-1.
4. In this dialog box, select GPT (GUID Partition Table) and click OK. See Figure 2-2.
1. If your CD-ROM/DVD is assigned drive letter D: it must be changed. Right-click the CD-ROM/DVD and
select Change Drive Letter and Paths... in the dialog box that appears.See Figure 2-3.
1. Select change, then OK In the dialog box that appears. See Figure 2-4.
2. From the pull-down menu Select E for the CD-ROM/DVD drive then OK in the dialog box that appears.
See Figure 2-5.
