TASK ASSESSMENT – UNIT 1

Our country, the Philippines, are known for having its unfair and unequal access to
health care services, according to the World Health Organization. Aside from that, our country is
also suffering from the scarcity or shortage of various health care resources. With that, it has a
great impact on the health economy of the country. One of the major solution for this is having a
careful decision concerning the genuine allocation of health care resources.

ALLOCATION OF HEALTHCARE RESOURCES:

1. One should maximize the quality of the healthcare resources that will be
distributed in the society.

2. Maximize healthcare with the accessible resources.

3. People or patients should have equal access to treatment, health services,

and healthcare resources.

4. Avoid discriminating people or patients according to their age, gender, or

capabilities of paying.

5. Prioritize the people or patients that need it the most.

6. Fair use of health services for equal needs for health care

7. Fair use of health services for equal willingness to pay for that use

8. Fair health outcomes for fair merit

9. Equal health care payments by people for equal ability to pay for that
health care

10. Equal expenditure on people for equal health deficit

With the provided allocation of healthcare resources, people are now able to answer the three
basic problems of economics:

1. What medical and non-medical goods and services should be produced

and in what quantities?

2. How should these medical and non-medical goods and services be

produced?

3. For whom should these medical and non-medical goods and services be
produced?

Answer:

1. The medical goods and non-medical goods to be produced should be

based on the patient’s needs. The quality is also the same. The number of
people who needs it is the quantity to be produced.

2. These medical and non-medical goods should be produced by maximizing

its quality and efficiency.

3. These goods and services shall be provided to the people in the society to
have a proper health care.
