"Health Equity Now: Advocating for

Inclusive and Accessible Healthcare"

Group #9 - BSN 1A

Capili, Margaret M. De Leon, Nikole Antoinette. Macapinlac, Precious Anne

Statement of the Problem
When compared to the general population, people with disabilities face health
disparities in the form of higher rates of death, morbidity, and functional impairments. A
large number of the poor health outcomes that people with disabilities face are not
attributable to the underlying illness or disability, but rather to health disparities brought
about by unjust social and medical system issues. To determine the hurdles that prevent
people with disabilities from having fair access to healthcare services and the measures that
can be put in place to remove these obstacles and encourage disability inclusion, a synthesis
of the available global evidence is required.

Goals and Objectives

In order to achieve health equity, society must value each person equally and make
concentrated, continuing efforts to remove preventable injustices, historical and current
inequalities, and socioeconomic determinants of health in order to end disparities in health
and medical care.

● Establish shared understanding across all sectors concerning information and issues
surrounding health equity.
● Strengthen the capacity of state and local agencies and other organizations to work
collaboratively with communities to reduce disparities in social determinants of health
and advance health equity.
● To recognize the basic entitlement to inexpensive and easily accessible medical care.

Health is not a privilege; it is a basic human right that transcends socioeconomic status.

Target Group
Health equality or accessible healthcare usually targets marginalized groups,
low-income communities, persons with limited access to resources, and those suffering
systemic barriers to healthcare. The goal is to eliminate gaps and ensure that everyone,
regardless of their economic status, has fair access to high-quality healthcare services.

Specific Activities
1. Reduction of poverty and improvement of economic stability
- Health depends on economic stability since those without steady employment
are more likely to experience poor health outcomes. Not only are low
earnings, unemployment, and unstable finances linked to poor health
outcomes, but they also limit access to healthcare and shorten life
expectancies.
2. Improvement of educational access and quality
- Everyone has to have access to high-quality, reasonably priced education in
order for health to improve. Economic stability and child development are
enhanced by access to high-quality education.
3. Improvement of access to healthy, affordable, inclusive, stable, climate-resilient
housing
- For people and families to live with dignity, reach their full potential, enjoy
economic mobility, lead safe and healthy lives, and engage in society, housing
is a need and a fundamental building component. Long-term investment is
required to address the enduring problems underlying the housing crisis.
4. Improvement of healthcare access and quality
- Legislators have the power to increase the number of people who can obtain
health insurance, reduce the cost of care and treatment, and raise the standard
of medical care.
5. Reinforcement of social connections and community safety
- People's relationships and interactions in the context of their living, learning,
working, playing, worshiping, and aging have a significant impact on their
health. Having strong, uplifting social ties helps guard against ill health and
wellbeing.
6. Advance racial equity and inclusive policies
- Individuals, communities, and society as a whole bear the financial cost of
these health disparities, which includes decreased income, work, and
production as well as higher medical and disability expenses.

● Healthcare Facilities: Building and maintaining medical facilities in underserved
areas.
● Health Workforce: Recruiting and training healthcare workers in order to fill the
labor shortage.

telemedicine, and remote monitoring.
● Education Programs: Setting plans into action to spread the word about preventative
care and healthcare rights.

decision-making process for healthcare to meet their specific needs.
