Only personnel directly involved in the test shall be allowed in the test area, all other personnel shall

remain outside the test area;

b) All equipment which must be attended by personnel during the test shall be located behind a
protective structure such as an earthen berm or be located a minimum of 15 m away from the test
section during the strength test;

c) Visual inspection of the test section shall not be conducted while the test pressure is producing a
hoop stress of 100% or more of the SMYS of the pipe (see Table 4.2.A)

4 Instructions

4.1 Efforts to conserve environmental resources include the reuse, recovery, and recycli ng of
generated wastewater where possible or practical.

4.2 The hydrocarbon or other contaminants in disposed wastewater are limited by SAE S-A-104 /
SAES-A-103 / SASC-S02. The instructions below are to minimize adverse env ironmental and public
health impacts of wastewater disposal after cleaning, flushing de watering of pipelines, tanks and
vessels. The construction of disposal ponds and/or sep arator ponds require compliance with land
use permit requirements as per Gl-0002.71 6.

4.3 Disposal Requirements / Restrictions

4.3.1 Pipeline activities, including the use of liquid hydrocarbon products during servic e, or during
use require the construction and use of oil/water separation systems prior to disposal. New
pipelines, and pipelines in gas and water service do not require oil/w ater separation systems prior
to disposal.

4.3.2 Do not discharge wastewater to local wadi environments.

4.3.3 As far as possible locate the disposal site within the existing pipeline corridor whil e ensuring
adequate pipeline access and without causing damage to the existing road ways, pipelines, private
entities or other structures.

4.3.4 Do not dispose wastewater in marine areas to wetland or sensitive terrestrial envi ronments,
including specified conservation areas (list of locations is available from EP D).

4.3.5 Separator pond should be sited to minimize exposure risk to nearby facilities pers onnel, (i.e.,
downwind).

4.4 Disposal to Sabkhah

Discharge separated wastewater directly to the sabkhah for evaporation provided that the
wastewater remains on land, and does not flow directly to the marine environmen t. An oil/water
separator pond (Figure 1) is required before wastewater is discharged to

sabkhah to ensure retention of residual hydrocarbon for subsequent collection and p roper handling.
4.5 Disposal to an Evaporation Pond

Oil/water separator ponds (Figure 1) are required upstream of evaporation ponds (Figu re 2) to
collect residual hydrocarbon and improve evaporation in the evaporation pond

evaporation ponds must meet the requirements of SAES-A-104 Section 14.2. New ev aporation
ponds may require an environmental impact assessment per SAEP-13.

4.6 Disposal to Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant

Discharge wastewater directly to the local industrial wastewater treatment plant if disp osal does
not affect the normal operations of the plant. Obtain concurrence from the operators of the
treatment plant prior to selection of this disposal option. Disposal to I ndustrial Wastewater
Treatment Plant must meet the requirements of SAES-A-104.

4.8.3 Use a spray nozzle to allow maximum oxygenation of discharge waters containin g oxygen
scavenger added per SAES-A-007.

4.8.4 Submit Water Disposal Request Form and obtain approval from EEO before disch arge of any
wastewater to embayments and/or marine protection areas in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea.

4.8.5 For the project area contaminated waste waters shall not be discharged to the int ertidal zone.
Discharge locations should be selected where the water column is deepes t for the project area.
Discharge at that location shall be as close to the water surface as practicable. If only oxygen
scavenger is used, discharge shall be into the air at the s elected discharge location. Lower the
discharge rate to less than five cubic meters per minute to allow mixing and mitigate adverse impact
to the marine environment. Altern atively, SAES-A-104 allows the injection of wastewater into any
petroleum rese1voir fro m which hydrocarbons are produced.

4.8.6 Submit Water Disposal Request Form and obtain approval from EEO before dispo sal of
wastewater to the Red Sea.

Dewatering into the evaporation pond

- Warning signboards must be placed around the evaporation pond

- Barricades must be installed around the evaporation pond
- Provide life buoy/life jacket near the evaporation pond
- Only Authorized personnel is allowed to enter near the evaporation pond
