Lesson

Title: Angle of Elevation and Depression

Objective:

At the end of the lesson the students should learn to;

1. Identified Elevation and Depression,

2. Solve problem solving; and
3. Distinguished in real life situations.

Materials: PPT, chalk, white board marker

Preparation

1. Pre-listening
I. “Opening prayer”

Asking a student to Lead prayer

II. Asking to pick up the piece of paper (trash) under their chair. After it ask them to sit
properly.
III. Attendance. Say “present”
2. Review
Okay class does anyone remember our topic last meeting?
Yes( all students)
Ok Ms. Student 1 could you please stand up and tell us?
The lesson was Pythagorean Theorem. It has triangle with a side called opposite, adjacent and
hypotenuse. The formula is a²+b²= c² where a is the adjacent, b is the opposite or vice versa and
the c is the hypotenuse which had the longest side of the triangle that are double the side of the
triangle. (Student 1).
That very good Ms. Student 1. Can we give her a five claps.
3. Motivation
Show pictures

Have you encounter/heard the words Elevation?

Some say yes and other stay silent (students)
Depression?
Yes. ( Almost half)
What comes in to your mind when your heard elevation?
How about depression?
Can you think of an idea that are related to mathematics.
Can you solve real life problem that are angle of Elevation and Depression are applicable?

4. Motive/ Comprehensive Questioning

Ok class let’s start our lesson from the mnemonic word SOH-CAH-TOA.
Does any of you know about this mnemonic words?
Some students raise their hand and give the answers.
Ok thank you for that.
Trigonometric functions may help you to answer a problem that are related to the topic
As well as the Pythagorean theorem.
Explaining, questioning and giving examples problem
The term angle of elevation denotes the angle from the horizontal upward to an object. An
observer’s line of sight would be above the horizontal.

5. Post- listening
Last 2 examples letting the students answers.
