Configuration
• The ScreenAgent configuration is resident in the Registry under the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Nice Systems\\Nice Screen.
• The key contains the IP address of the ScreenLogger and the Extension of the
ScreenAgent. In addition it contains Desktop settings enforcements and Capture settings.
For a full description of the configuration keys please refer to the ScreenAgent 8.54 Setup
document.
• The default capture method is Hooking for WinNT, Win2k platforms, and DirectDraw
Scraper for Win9x, Win ME platforms.
• Changing the Scraper method from DirectDraw Scraper (default) to GDI Scraper: Change
the value of the “UseDirectDraw” key from “1” to “0”. The key is located in the
following location in the Registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Netopia\\Scraper.

Installation
Installation Requirements
• Hardware specification:
Processor – Pentium 200 MMX or equivalent.
Memory – 32MB for Win9x/Win ME, 64MB for WinNT, 128MB for
Win2k.
• Network – TCP/IP.
• Administrator privileges at Install time.
• Supports the OS platforms specified in section 2.1.

Installation Instructions
• To run the standard installation, invoke the Setup.exe from the distribution
disks. You will be asked to enter the IP address of the ScreenLogger and the
Extension attached to the current station. The standard installation will
install the ScreenAgent with the default configuration.
• To change configuration before the installation, edit the Agent.ini file
resident in the distribution disks.

Upgrade Instructions
• To upgrade a station to use ScreenAgent 8.54 simply run the Setup.exe file
and follow the installation instructions. The Setup will extract the current
settings of the station, Uninstall the current ScreenAgent version and finally
will install the new version.
• Note: Do not uninstall the current ScreenAgent before the upgrade, doing so
you will loose the current settings of the Agent (Extension, ScreenLogger IP,
etc).
• When upgrading from a 1.6/8.5 versions the only settings that are saved are
the Extension and ScreenLogger IP address. When upgrading from an
earlier version of 8.54 (Beta versions) all the settings are saved.

• ScreenLogger 8.54 can operate in a mixed environment that includes
ScreenAgents from versions 8.54, 8.5 and 1.6.
• Note: when working with 8.5, 1.6 ScreenAgents KF-Generator application
must run.

Compatibility with CLS


• ScreenLogger operates with CLS 8.5.

Compatibility with Universe Application


• ScreenLogger operates with Universe 8.5. The applications SP17 (or above)
must be installed on the Evaluators stations to support the new capture
protocol.

ScreenLogger Database compatibility


• ScreenLogger 8.54 Database is compatible with ScreenLogger Database 8.5
and 1.6. Upgrading from an earlier version then 1.6 will require Conversion.

The file can be edited after installation, or before installation (the file is
resident on the first installation disk).
• The default configuration of the ScreenLogger is to load the KF-Generator
when running. If the site contains ONLY 8.54 ScreenAgents then it’s safe to
disable the load of the KF-Generator (Parameter in the SL.ini file) and to
increase the max Data rate.

Installation
Installation Requirements

of the ScreenLogger and the Id, IP Address of the Voice Logger. After the
files have been copied you will be asked if you want to run the Database
setup, Select Yes and follow the displayed instructions to create a new
Database.
• Configuration parameters are stored in the SL.ini file located in the
following path:
”C:\\ScreenRecord\\ScreenLogger”

Upgrade Instructions
Run the installation (as described in the above section). When you are asked if
you want to run the Database setup do the following:
• If you are upgrading from an earlier version of 8.54 (Beta versions) don’t
launch the Database Setup.
• If you are upgrading from a 1.6, 8.5 ScreenLogger and you don’t want to
expand the size of the Database, don’t launch the Database Setup.
• If you are upgrading from a 1.6, 8.5 ScreenLogger and you want to expand
the size of the Database, launch the Database Setup and select “Expand
existing database”.
• If you are upgrading from a previous version of the ScreenLogger and you
don’t want to keep the current Database (you want to create a new Database
and loose current data) – launch the Database Setup and select “Setup a new
database”.
• If you are upgrading from a 1.5 ScreenLogger or an earlier version, launch
the Database Setup and select “Convert”.
