All right, what I'd like to do is share with you

a simple way that I create sacred space. And I've been doing this for many years.
And this is from
the Native American tradition, where it's from the tradition
of medicine wheels. And medicine wheels can be anything. Basically in this form,
it's creating a sacred circle in which
I'm establishing the directions. And everywhere you live in the world,
in the East, in the West, in the North, in the South,
you find reference to your landscape. So in my medicine wheel,
I have these little fetishes that I place. That actually,
I symbolically create sacred space, connecting myself to the elements of
the four directions and above and below. So I want to share with you,
this is my sacred medicine wheel, and in this wheel, you can use just simple
rocks, feathers, pieces of jewelry, anything in your life that you create that
you identify that might be sacred to you. So I want you to create,
you can make a little altar in your house, you can do a lot of variety of ways in
which you want to create sacred space. For me, this one is very easy. And I want to
share with you that
I have these little fetishes, and these are little Zuni
fetishes that I collected. And in my creating the medicine wheel,
I put the owl in the east because, and then I call forth
the direction of the east, and where I live in Florida, the ocean,
the Atlantic ocean is in the east. And then, I have the lioness,
the Florida panther in the south, which represents
the Everglades in Florida. So, I'm looking at calling
forth the energy of the sun and the power of the lion. Then, in the west, I have
the bear,
in many traditions, this is the healer. This is the ancient bear,
and I put him in the west. And then I put the corner stone, the
crystals, and here, I've got the coyote, I've got the horse, this is a symbol
of my manifestation, which is a woman holding her child, which is
like giving birth to her own creativity. So when I create sacred space,
what I'm hoping to do is create something in my
life that holds my intention. My intention for this day is
that we manifest this course and that you as a student, wherever you
are in the world, embarks on a journey that is fulfilling and that leads you
to your own personal transformation. And that you're able to heal yourself,
others, and your community. That's my intention for you. Creating sacred space
though is
something that I have all over my house. And I will share you places
where I make an altar. And in my life, sacred space and the sacred objects are
things that I've
collected from all over the world. I have an altar that has a Buddha on it. And
this was a way in which I held
space in my life to where I could bring my prayers. So I put special things on that
altar. I would burn incense and burn candles and put sacred objects on there,
things
that I collected all over the world. Then another place that I had
a sacred object is a prayer wheel. And this is a prayer wheel
that I found in Bhutan. And some days,
I would just turn the prayer wheel and in the Buddhist tradition,
where my prayers would go up to heaven. I was raised Catholic, so
I've also collected blessed mothers, to where I have a collection of
these beautiful blessed mothers. And I make a little
collection of these things. And any way in your life that you want to
create a little sacred space, it could be in a garden, like putting rocks together
in a garden, doing an herb garden. Places where you've sort of put your
energy, and it just holds space for you. I have a little place in my bathroom,
where I have these objects that I
collected from Malta and Cyprus. Where I have these little,
it's like a goddess, a little goddess, where the goddess in her many
manifestations I collect. And one of the things I do collect that I
really love is that I collect rocks from all over the world. I've collected rocks
from Jordan,
I've collected rocks from Cyprus, I've collected rocks from Bhutan,
I've collected rocks from Costa Rica. And I cluster these rocks, I collected
rocks from Hawaii, and so I've collected all these rocks and I put them together
in little bowls and little pockets and little baskets all over my house,
where I just treasure these little rocks. So what you need to do is just go around
your home, go around your environment, and see where you can create a little altar.
And it may be an altar with
photographs of your family. You have a few of your own
sacred special objects. And these objects can be anything
that you feel are special to you. They can be simple,
they could be pieces of jewelry. They could be rocks,
they can be pieces of wood. They could be things that you've
collected anywhere you want. You can just collect it on
a walk that you take today. And then I want to take you to a place,
a special place, it's outside my home and it's a tree. And this place,
I feel this tree is very special, because it's one of
the oldest trees on my land. It's about 500 years old, and
I call her the Grandmother Tree. And this tree,
I've made a little altar under the tree. And I collect pieces of wood, and
I collect pieces of things and I sort of make an altar to her. And sometimes, I
just go out and
sit under this tree. So I want to invite you to
look around where you live. I want you to look to the east,
what is in the east? Look to the south, what is in the south? Look to the west,
look to the north. And create a sacred circle around you, so you know where you are
and
connect to where you are. And this sacred space will protect you. because one of
the things about inviting
yourself to be in this transformative place of creativity is that
you have the freedom and the safety to be able to heal and bring up many times
ancient old wounds or old memories or things in your life that
you haven't really dealt with before. Where I really believe when we create
these sacred little intentional altars, we actually create protection, and we're
calling in the guardians of our life. Be it angels, ancient masters,
whoever it is that are your guardians. Bring them to you, and they may be
grandmothers or grandfathers, or special friends, or
special people in your life, or special spiritual leaders,
whoever they are. Invite them to be part of
this journey that we're on.
