Why is there free hosting but not free offshore hosting?

Hosting a website is somewhat similar to renting an office or a space for your business. In order
to build a website, you need to acquire space for it on a host server. Hosting can be free, albeit
relatively basic, or you may prefer to use an offshore server, which costs money, but offers more
options and security.
Free hosting platforms generate their revenue from advertising, so they are able to offer hosting
services for free. The obvious draw of this model is that it does not cost money, which may be
attractive to small businesses and people who are just getting started. The downsides of free
hosting are that it offers few design options, low storage, slow speed, no backup, and inadequate
security. Free hosting platforms are highly vulnerable to being hacked, and typically lacking in
customer support. In other words, if your free website crashes, gets hacked, or disappears, you
may find that there is no one to seek assistance from.
Offshore hosting refers to hosting your website on a server which is located outside of the
country where your business is located. This offers a great deal of security and privacy, as the
host server will not be subject to your country’s local laws. Also, since offshore hosting is a paid
service, it is ad-free and it provides many design options, as well as absolute freedom to choose
what content you wish to have on your site. Additionally, it should have good backup options
and quality customer support.
To put it simply, website hosting is a situation where you get what you pay for. Free hosting is a
good option if you need a fairly basic website and aren’t willing to spend a lot of money on it.
Offshore hosting is expensive, but it is a better option if you require a more specialized website
with high security.
