Cancellation of Load Line Certificates :- (1) Where the

Central Government is satisfied, whether by a report


from an Assigning Authority or a Surveyor or
otherwise, that --- 
(i)         the ship to which the certificate
relates does not comply with the
conditions of assignment, or 
(ii)         the structural strength of the
ship is lowered to such an extent
as to render the ship unsafe, or 
(iii)        information on the basis of
which freeboards were assigned to
the ship has proved to the
incorrect in matters of material
importance. 
                        (2)        Where it comes to the notice of
the Central Government that --- 
(i)         the certificate of a ship is not
endorsed as required by rule 11 ;
or 
(ii)         a new certificate is issued in
respect of the ship; or 
(iii)        the ship has ceased to be an
Indian Ship within the meaning of
the Act, it may, after giving the
owner of the ship a reasonable
opportunity of making his
representation, cancel or cause to
cancel any Load Line Certificate
issued under these rules.
