Introduction

• There has been a lot of noise about the Internet of Things these days. It’s huge impact on
almost everything that we do just can’t be ignored. Before we begin, let me give you a brief
about this booming technology that has taken over the world. IoT is a system connecting any
device to the Internet and to other connected devices. It is a giant network of connected
things and people that allows sharing of data within the network.
• The Internet of Things is transforming the everyday physical objects that will enrich our
lives. From refrigerators to parking spaces to houses, the Internet of Things is bringing more
things into the digital fold every day, which will likely make the Internet of Things a multi-
trillion dollar industry in the near future, stated a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Definition
The Internet of things (IoT) is a system of
interrelated computing devices, mechanical and
digital machines provided with
unique identifiers (UIDs) and the ability to
transfer data over a network without requiring
human-to-human or human-to-computer
interaction.
The Internet of Things is not a concept; it
is a network, the true technology-enabled
Network of all networks.

Fast Growing IoT Networks
Internet of Things (IoT) will be the trend, which
will generate more than $300 billion annually by
2020. According to the latest industry trends and
research reports, the global IoT market will grow
at a CAGR of 28.5%. Business houses will rely on
more data points to collect information for more
detailed business insights.
Role of Data Analytics in Internet of Things (IoT)

IoT and data remain intrinsically linked together. Data consumed and produced keeps growing
at an ever expanding rate. This influx of data is fueling widespread IoT adoption as there will
be nearly 30.73 billion IoT connected devices by 2020. The Internet of Things (IoT) is an
interconnection of several devices, networks, technologies, and human resources to achieve a
common goal. There are a variety of IoT-based applications being used in different sectors and
have succeeded in providing huge benefits to the users.
The data generated from IoT devices turns out to be of value only if it gets subjected to
analysis, which brings data analytics into the picture. Data Analytics (DA) is defined as a
process, which is used to examine big and small data sets with varying data properties to
extract meaningful conclusions and actionable insights. These conclusions are usually in the
form of trends, patterns, and statistics that aid business organizations in proactively engaging
with data to implement effective decision-making processes.
Better Data Analytics

In the next few years, the upcoming IoT app trends will surely surprise you with their
offerings. These trends will not only provide effective processes to execute tasks but also help
in making our lives easier and more comfortable. Soon, we can witness significant ways by
which the world and IoT will combine to become a decision-making assistant for all
individuals and businesses. Without data analytics, it would be difficult for companies to
execute a business process as quoted by Geoffrey Moore, an author, and consultant in
these words, Without data analytics, companies are blind and deaf, wandering out onto the web
just like a deer on a freeway.
With the use of AI and Big Data techniques, these IoT trends popping up in the near future will
foster improved decision making among market strategists and industry experts. Better data
analytics help to extract meaningful and valuable insights. Later, this information is analyzed
and processed for creating a systematic approach to make effective business moves.
Predictive Maintenance will surely boost up

• Another important among all the other IoT app trends in 2020, predictive maintenance will
help homeowners know about the damages and leakages in their homes. This will prevent
homes from disasters and help in the maintenance of the same. Most of the characteristics
of the sensors that one can witness in factories, airplanes, and automobiles can easily be
achieved with the help of all the upcoming IoT app trends.
• Using the predictive skills of IoT, companies offer home care services on a contractual
basis. They take appropriate actions to prevent damage whenever a problem is perceived.
At present, various home insurance companies make use of smart sensors and various other
connected devices using the internet of things trends.

Healthcare will see Increased IoT Adoption

• One of the most important applications of IoT that will clearly dominate the IoT app
development ecosystem in the next year is in the field of healthcare. As per a report by
Frost and Sullivan, the internet of medical things could be expected to grow at a compound
annual growth rate of 26.2% and reach $ 72,000 million by 2021.
• Healthcare devices well configured with IoT makes it easier to monitor the health status
of the patients. It assists doctors too. Mobile health applications and virtual assistants to
monitor the patient’s health at home and a series of other intelligent connected devices
will help in reshaping the medical world.
