So we define globalization as a process, condition and an ideology

First,... Globalization as a process can be viewed in different dimensions. Why is it a process, then? It is a process because
these dimensions which are the 5 scapes we’ve mentioned (ethno, techno, media, finans and ideoscapes) pertains to the
flow... flow of goods, commodities, people, technology and even culture. It becomes a process because there is a global
movement. So, the term movement or flow pertains to a process. That is why globalization can be defined as a process.

Second,.. globalization as a condition is more of the social conditions characterized by economic, political and cultural
interconnections. Steger said that globality is the term that signifies future social condition. So why is it a condition? It is
because globalization is somewhat similar to the term modernization ... so when we hear the word modernization and
globalization, there is somewhat a notion that a thing is under the state of development. So this being said that economic,
political and cultural interconnections are under the state of development equates to the term condition – a condition
where discernable patterns unfold. The phrase state of development is more of a condition than a process that is why
globalization can be defined as a condition.

Lastly, globalization as an ideology is more of a complex discussion because there is an ongoing debate to whether
globalization should be pronounce as an ideology. So, according Michael Freeden, it is not an ideology because contrary
to the definition of ideology which is a belief that is somewhat permanent, ideas about globalization is ephemeral or short-
lasting requiring periodic scholarly assessment and the ideology of globalization for Freeden is so old and conventional
that they obscure more than they illuminate meaning they limit what globalization truly is. But ManFred Steger believe
that it can still be an ideology so he presents a set of ideas which is called the six core claims arguing globalization as an
ideology in a more dynamic way contrary to Freeden’s idea.

So in short..

Globalization is a process because it is a flow or a movement

It is a condition because it is a state of development or a condition where discernable patterns unfold.

And Why is it an ideology then? Because of Stegers propose six core claims. Claims meaning set of beliefs or ideas.

In which this six core claims will be discuss thoroughly by the next group.

So, that’s all. I hope you have a full grasp of our discussion. Thank you
