1. Analyse the case, study and site the problems faced and
solutions provided

In 2007, when some delegates to a conference held in San Francisco, found all the hotels
booked and no accommodation available, so two friends, Brian chesky and Joe Gebbia
decided to rent out extra space in their apartments to some of these delegates. During this
process they earned more than 1000 US dollar. This gave them the idea of taking the
business forward and then in 2008 they started their own website Airbed and breakfast.com
Airbnb is a service that allows property owners to rent out their spaces to travellers, people
can rent out private rooms for individual guest's spaces for multiple people to share or
sometimes the entire property.

2.Do you agree that it was a viable solution? Give your suggestions.

Yes, it was a viable solution because not everyone can afford to stay in hotel and sometimes
it can be difficult to even find a hotel room in a busy area, at this time if there are any
services like Airbnb is available, this would be very helpful for the guest/travellers to stay.
Even though it was a practicable one, the hosts had to overcome their fear of entertaining
strangers and guests also had to be ready to stay in places belonging to strangers. Although
this service received many positive stories, some hosts and guests shared their bad
experiences of apartment theft and looting.

3. What would be your solution to this case?

Firstly, the hosts and guests should tell others preferences that is, host can tell others their
preferences and policies for hospitality and guests can tell others the kinds of things they
like to do during their stay. This helps users match themselves with someone they are likely
to get along with.
Secondly, the hosts and guests should send each other messages, this let's hosts and guest's
workout things like check in details, house rules and any special requests, guests can also
privately ask other guests whether or not a property is worth renting, similarly hosts can ask
other hosts whether or not they can trust certain guests to behave appropriately.
Thirdly, both hosts and guests should review and rate each other, can say what guest liked
or disliked about the property or the host style of hospitality likewise host can write a
review about guest behaviour, how well they followed the house rule and treatment of
property.so this kind of reviews will be very helpful for the hosts as well as guests.
