15. No bhejal, No marketing: Just practice

Search English has now 6,000 members. It is growing very rapidly. More than that, we have started to see
some posts from our members indicating that they are not afraid to speak or write in job interviews. When
we started the group some people told me that it would not become successful as Bangladeshi people are not
eager to write in English online.
We did not go for any kind of marketing in Facebook or classified websites like Bikroy. Instead, we just
tried to use our own Facebook profile to spread the message. Why Search English has become so popular
and active?
First of all, there is no bhejal here. We try to respect everyone and we are friendly. As a result, our members
feel happy and spend their time. From first, I have told you that our main problem is that we are afraid of
English. Fear and shame are the two main problems. So, let us have a friendly atmosphere here. We have
come here to practice English not fight or not to prove that I am right or you are wrong.
Secondly, we never try to do any kind of marketing in this group. We do not try to sell anything or do any
kind of propaganda. We just want that you focus on practicing English.
Now-a-days, I am very busy and I cannot give time like past. The good thing is that many of you have
become active and that is why, I do not need to spend so much time like past.
Now, every week, someone is writing about their improvement. Well, I am happy but remember that you
have a long way to go. Please, try to stay here for one year at least. It will help you for your whole life.

16. It works, It Really Works

Within the next few hours, Search English group is going to have 6000 members. We feel happy and
satisfied to note that all the regular persons in skype adda and in this group have seen one very big
improvement- they are not afraid of using English any more. They have no hesitation now to speak and they
have no hesitation to write comments. It will help them forever not in using English language but it will help
them to become confident in learning anything.

We need this kind of confidence in our heart because it helps to move forward in life with peace and calm.
We badly need it but most of us fail to get in our entire life. All the time, there are many people all around
you saying that you cannot do something and you will never achieve it. We live in a country where English
is a must in education and in jobs. We may like or hate English but we simply cannot avoid it.
I dream that many of you will start becoming addicted to English language and stick with us for one year.
This platform is only 46 days or one and a half month old. We have achieved a lot within such a short time.
Can you imagine what we can do if we stay here for one year?
I can imagine- English will become your major strength in life.

17. Just a simple Benefit of writing comments

I have noticed that the number of posts has increased in this group. People now can write more freely. It has
happened because some of us try to write comments seriously. Anyone who has written comment for just 15
days can write posts more freely. Secondly, even some of us now can write long comments. I wanted this to
happen. We must overcome fear and shame and only then, we will be able to write freely.
So, my advice to everyone is that keep on writing comments. Only then, you will be able to write freely
without hesitation. It will happen soon.

18. Are you Serious about Your Dream?

I have been sitting almost continuously for the last 8 hours. I have been coordinating the effort to launch e-
CAB Answer. This is a place where anyone can find answer of almost any question related to e-commerce.
In the first stage, we want to find and upload the answers of One Thousand questions. AbUL Khayer vai and
Mohan vai have worked for the last 4 days to make it ready or in other words, they have taken care of the
technical part. Every night, I talked to them.
Today, it is the content part. Partho Pratim Majumder, S M Mehdi Hasan and Nazmul Hasan Majumdar vai
have been working with me. We have been able to upload the answers of 17 questions in the first day.
Now, the platform is set and we can work for e-CAB answer. Many people tell me regularly that they cannot
give time for studying English. Well, if becoming skilled in English is your dream then you have to give
time.

19. Action Speaks Louder than Words

Earlier today, Muna apu wrote a post in this group. She stated that while facing a job interview, she had to
answer all the questions in English language. It really does not matter whether she will get the job or not.
What matters is that Apu could do it. She could speak in English for one hour in real life situation. May be
she became some nervous and afraid but she could do it and she is happy for it.
She has thanked me and Search English group. It has brought a lot of satisfaction to me. Some people make
fun of me in Facebook and say bad thing about my effort to create a platform for young people to learn
English. I do not get annoyed or angry anymore. Instead, I want to focus on bringing out success stories like
Muna apu.
I have no plan or interest to become a leader, celebrity, idol or icon. Instead, I want to always remain a very
simple and ordinary person like today. I have realized that God has given me a great gift- I can inspire
others. I want to try for creating a good platform for young people. I dream of the time when every day,
there will be a success story in this group. Muna Apu has just showed us that we can face the real world.
So, let us move forward. Let us face the real world. Let us try our best. Search English is already the best
platform to learn English in the country. You do not have to pay any money. Some of us have started to get
results or success and finally, it is a bhejal free platform.
20. Fear and Shame
The biggest obstacles of learning English in our country are fear and shame. We are always afraid if we are
making mistakes. We are always worried if others will laugh at us when we speak or write. We feel ashamed
to think that others might laugh at our mistakes. From our childhood, we develop a fear of English because
many students fail in this subject.

This has become a national problem for us. We are too afraid to speak or write in English. Without
practicing, how you can become skilled in anything! We only lose confidence if we are afraid and ashamed.
We get the feeling that we are good for nothing. Whether you like it or not, English is an important skill for
any educated person in our country.
Without English skills, you cannot get a good job, you cannot have a good career. You need to be skilled in
English for your educational life. You need to become skilled in English even to teach your children now or
in future. I mean, I do not need to write an essay about the importance of learning English in Bangladesh.

So, forget about fear and shame and start using English. Start writing comments and posts. This is the
simply the first step. Just do it.

21. My Real Struggle, My Real Pain

I am good at encouraging others. I have been able to develop a method that is producing one after another
success stories. However, I am struggling on convincing everyone to give a lot of time. You have become
skilled in speaking but now, you have to become skilled in writing.
It is a very important skill. You can do it and yes all of you can do it. I am not asking you to become
Shakespeare. All I am trying is to convince you that you get a normal skill of written English.
If you can write 1000 words a day with normal level of accuracy and grammar, I am more than satisfied. It
is just the beginning and you have your whole life to practice and improve.
Just write 20-30 comments a day. You can easily do it.

22. Writing is a Lonely Work

Now, all of the regular participants in Skype adda can speak more or less fluently. No one is afraid or
ashamed to speak in English anymore. It is a very big success for all of us. We could achieve it because we
are acting like a team. We are moving forward hand in hand like a unit. I have noticed that it takes around
one month of time to be able to speak English fluently. If you can stay with us for 3 months then be sure you
will be able to speak not only fluently but also confidently.
Now, we are trying for writing. Of course, writing is tougher and it is a lonely work. However, let us try to
act like a team and write comments in one another‟s posts. If we can do it then we will become fluent in
writing too.
After the regular participants become fluent in writing, we will try to become skilled in grammar. The basic
idea is that we become fluent in speaking and writing and then we try to learn grammar and improve our
accuracy.
We try to support and encourage each other. This is the most important thing and always remember it.
23. My Dream
The group has now 10,000+ members and also, our Alexa ranking indicates that we are becoming a well
visited website in Bangladesh. Yes, success is on the way for the four of us who set up this group, Skype
adda and Search English website. As for me, this will be a great success story that will bring a lot of name,
fame and may be fortune too. However, this success will surely be meaningless if you cannot improve.
I dream that all of the regular participants of our skype adda will become a real success story. They will be
able to speak English fluently, write English well and they will be able to use English skills in their career. I
want them to spend one year with us and work hard. I know that all of them will shine by the end of one
year.
Frankly, I was frustrated even one month ago as most people were not regular. Now, I can find 4-5 regular
persons and they are improving in a good way. I know that there are many people out there who are
desperately searching for such a platform. We just need to find them as well they need to find us.
I am trying my best for my dream what about you?

24. Team Building Effort for Writing

I have basically two skills- I can write and I can build a small team. My dream is to build a team of 10
persons for writing. So far, we have got 7 persons in this regard. I would not say that it is a formidable team
but I am satisfied with it. I am satisfied because all of us are sincere and love to write.
It is not easy to build a team. Functioning as a unit is even more challenging. We live in different parts of the
country and different corners of Dhaka city. However, I am hopeful because I have realized when you work
towards a specific goal then sooner or later it will happen.
So, for the time being, I will focus on this writing team. As for Skype Adda, we have Mithu Kamal as the
captain and he can now speak in a very attractive way.
I wanted to actually first make a team of 10 persons and then try seriously for the group or the team.
However, now, it seems to me that we should start our march and sooner or later, some new faces will join.
Instead, I should now focus on training these 6 persons so that they can learn to function as a unit.

25. Let us try

I write many posts in a month to encourage others. It is not easy to motivate others about learning English. I
am the main figure or teacher of this group, skype adda and Search English website. My dream is to ensure
that many persons will become skilled in English language without spending any money. At first, my dream
was simple- a person must be able to speak one hour fluently and write 1000 words in a single day in
English.
It has been achieved by 10-15 persons in our skype adda now. So, now, my dream is that they will become
skilled in English grammar. It will take time- I know it very well. We must not give up our dream. Now, my
dream is that slowly, the regular participants will become better. The main problem is that I cannot find
them at the same time. If I found them at the same time in Skype, I could guide them better.
What next? I hope that some of the early starters will be with me until the end of the year. Search English
will become one of the most visited websites in the country by that time. The regular writers will become
well known to many people- no doubt.
26. English and ICT
We have a very active group here. Actually, today, I have realized that we are gradually creating or at least
making a new field popular in our country- English and ICT. Many of the participants in this group and
skype adda come from freelancing background. Their goal is to become skilled in English language so that
they can earn more from their freelancing projects.
The basic idea here is very simple- become skilled in English language and then use it for your job, business
or online freelancing. This is my goal and my dream. Anyone who will spend 8 hours of time a day here for
one month should be able to speak in English for one hour and write 1000 words.
I know that they will be able to achieve much more but that is the bare minimum. What about ICT? We are
using computer/laptop/smartphone, internet, Facebook, skype, website. Thus, right now, my goal or target is
just increasing English language skill of ordinary persons so that they can use it to shine in their professional
life. What about the other way around?
There are many people who have some good skills of English language? I myself come from this
background. Is it possible to bring them in freelancing so that they can earn dollar for themselves as well for
our national economy? Right now, I think that it is not possible. If someone is skilled in English then
earning money is not a big deal in Bangladesh. At least, you can earn money easily by teaching students at
your home.
I am going to write about it a lot in the coming days. What do you think?

27. Partho Pratim Majumdar

Today, I have written several posts about Partho Pratim Majumdar vai. I wrote about him because success
always brings a kind of sweet feeling in our heart. It is the success of Partho vai but at the same time it is the
success of Search English Group too. We all share a part of it. I tried to guide him online. He was with me in
Facebook and Skype most of the time.
One of the main reasons he could improve is that he just kept on trying. He just listened to me and did
whatever I asked. This is very tough indeed but he felt motivated because of two reasons. First of all, he has
already accepted defeat in his life. So, he felt that he could give one last effort in Search English.
Secondly, I could show him his improvement in every step. He could not write more than 500 words a day.
Now, he can easily write more than 500 words a day. His writing has improved in every way. He makes
fewer grammatical mistakes and he can realize his improvement.
Thus, Partho bhai has started walking on the road to real success in life. He has got a career now. He will
earn money, get recognition and become famous too. But for that, he has to continue working hard for the
next 2-3 years at least.
Seeing the success of Partho vai, at least 10 persons contacted me today that they wanted learn English and
build a career. But the problem is that they want to work hard or give time. So, I cannot help them. Well,
sadly, many of us become addicted to short cut. We have forgotten that Search English is the only platform
in Bangladesh is free of cost and free of bhejal.
28. Time and Tide wait for None
Almost every day, someone knocks me in Facebook and tells me that they are weak in English but they need
for their job exams. I advise them to spend 4-5 hours in Search English group, write 30 comments a day and
read as many posts as possible.
Hardly anyone listens to my advice. I am not annoyed, angry or sad about it. I am doing my work and I am
trying to make this group successful. I try so hard that sometimes I get sick. Abul Khayer vai is taking care
of skype adda and he is doing it every night. It is a very tough work.
Partho Pratim Majumdar vai is very active and he tries to spend 10 hours a day. Search English is moving
forward and we are moving forward. Now, many people now about us and at the same time, we are
becoming more skilled. We can now write faster, speak better and we are not afraid of English anymore.
Some of us have really got benefited but many of us are not getting benefited simply because we are not
giving enough time. It is up to you.
Just remember that your age is only increasing and time and tide wait for none. If you do not give time and
effort then you cannot improve. A very simple lesson.

29. Are there Enough Opportunities?

From January, you will notice that every week someone from this group will give post to inform us that they
have got a job or freelancing project. In other words, they will start earning money. Why will it happen?
Simply because, there are many opportunities for anyone who is skilled in English language. Of course,
Search English is a group for practicing English and our goal is not to arrange jobs for our members. We
will never try for that.
Our focus will always be to make you skilled in English language. Of course, it is up to you to work hard or
not. I am going to regularly write about the opportunities that exist. Now, the main question is: are there
enough opportunities? Yes, there are enough opportunities for people who are skilled in English language.
When you are skilled in English, you can try for freelancing works online.
In short, there are enough opportunities but there are not enough people who are willing to work hard and
keep on trying every day.

30. Practice Can increase Your Speed

It takes only 5-10 minutes of time for me to write a post in Facebook. I normally write around 200 words in
a post. I can type fast and I can think fast too. Many people do not want to believe this matter as they cannot
do it. Well, what they do not realize that behind it, there is 18 years of effort and practice.
I published my first article in newspaper in 1994 in Daily Ittefaq. Since January 1998, I have been writing
regularly. That is why, I can write so fast now.
Actually, if you do something regularly and if you are serious about it then you can do it better and faster. It
is a very simple rule of life. Do not go after short cut. You can gain for the time being but in the long run,
you will not be able to become skilled in something.
Skill is more important than anything else- even money. We just forget this simple matter in life. Sadly, we
all the time just equate success with money. Of course, money is important but skill is even more important.
So, try to be skilled and only then you will become successful. It has taken 5 minutes of time to write this
post.
31. Near and Far
In this group, I hardly knew anyone even just 5 months ago. They are not my relatives or friends. Many of
them were not even in my Facebook friend list. Many of them do not live in the same city. They live in
different corners of Bangladesh. I know some of them virtually in Facebook and skype. Still, I know a lot
about some of them may be because I have a very sharp memory or may be, I really care for them. I dream
that they will become proficient in English.
These days, in skype adda, almost every can speak fluently. They can speak for hours. Often, we have the
conversation for 5 hours. Why do I bother so much? Simply because, if you are good in Bangladesh then
you can have a career. You will move ahead in your education and career.
So, I try to motivate you, encourage you. If anyone can speak for one hour then I feel like I have done it. If
anyone can write 10 posts then I feel like it is my personal achievement.
I have seen some success stories already. This gives me a lot of satisfaction. I wanted to be a writer and
nothing else.

32. As you sow, so shall you reap

We all know this proverb. Partho Protim Majumder has been more or less a failure story in our society.
After passing HSC, he got admitted into a private university and stayed there for one year and he failed in
every semester. As a result, he became frustrated and left his study 3 years ago. However, for the last 4
months, he has been trying very hard to listen to my every advice.
Partho vai is always online and he tries to write. Often, he works 12 hours a day. He is slowly improving.
Today, he has done something outstanding. He has translated a feature from the Daily Star. Daily Star is
considered to be one of the top newspapers of the country and his translation was not bad. I would give 60
out of 100 and that is fine. He has another 5 and a half months to reach to 90.
In BCS, Bank and other jobs, translation is considered to be an important skill. Many people contact me
about giving them tips regarding translation skills. What they do not want to do is to keep on trying. Partho
vai has kept on trying and he is just going ahead slowly but steadily.
If Partho vai continues then from January 2017, he wills start earning money from his writing. He will have
a real career and he will become a successful writer.

33. Show me the money, job, freelancing, and business but not the Skill
I am one of the most active persons in Facebook in this country. I do not know of any other person who
writes so many posts and comments. I basically write to inspire young people about becoming skilled in
something. We all want money, good job or become successful in business. There is nothing wrong in it and
if someone says that he or she does not have this goal then either they are mad or they are lying.
It is natural to dream for money and jobs but the problem is that we do not try for becoming skilled in
something. We do not like this part. We have a wrong notion that a good result or CGPA is enough. Good
result is good but not great or not enough. It is not enough because you are not the only one who has it.
Secondly, many of us focus on memorizing notes and after exams this skill has no relevancy in our career.
Many young people in our country have lost the mindset to work hard and acquire a skill. If I start posting
about earning money through Internet, e-commerce, blogging, SEO, Freelancing etc then obviously
thousands of people will start joining the group. But I know very well that 90% of them will fail to earn any
money simply because they do not have the knowledge and skill.
This group is not about earning money. It is about learning and practicing English language. Try to become
fluent first and then learn grammar yourself. After that, focus on becoming skilled on something by using
your English skills. It may sound like a long journey but this is the guaranteed way- believe me, it is.
Finally, the money is having a skill not in short cut.

34. My Satisfaction
I am highly satisfied today because we have many posts in this group and people are commenting too. The
group is alive and it is moving ahead. More than anything else, some of you are really trying. I wanted this
matter to happen because until you try, you cannot become successful.
Writing is a very lonely work. When you write something and others don‟t put any comment then it destroys
any interest to continue. I know that many of you want to become skilled in English so that you can do well
in your exams and also in your job exams. Many of you have the dream to become freelancers and English
is a must. So, keep on practicing. Until now, I focus on the part that this group is free. Yes, it will always be
free inshallah. From now on, I want to focus on the fact that it is an effective platform. You can get result,
real result and real improvement.
Yes, you can improve and can see the improvement within just one month if you keep on trying. It is a
matter of time and try to make it happen sooner rather than later.

35. Grammar, Accuracy, Time and Effort

Almost every day, someone asks me this question: Why are you against grammar?
I am not against learning grammar; I am not against speaking and writing accurately. If you can do it then I
have no problem. I do not tell anyone here to write in wrong English.
Here, in Search English, I am trying to create a platform for learning English. I want people to learn and
practice here at free of cost. This Facebook Group, Search English (dot com) Website and Skype adda- these
are the three components. We are adding two new features soon. One is audio content and another is
PracticeBD Facebook group.
We are going to record audio conversation and then put in our website. As for PracticeBD, we will practice
writing in Bangla and also translating from English to Bangla.
On the other hand, you can practice translating from Bangla to English in this group (Search English). The
basic idea is very simple- spend a lot of time every day in using English language. At first try to be fluent.
Leave fear and shame aside and use English language.
To us, English is not a subject to pass but a language to use. We are writing a lot here now. We speak at
least four hours every night in skype. We are doing it every night.
I just want two things from all of you:
1. Spend four or five hours a day (if you can give 8-10 hours a day is even better)
2. Do it every day (yes, do not miss a single day unless you are sick or if you have some kind of emergency)
First, let us become fluent; let us develop a habit of using English four or five hours a day. When we can do
it then we can easily study English Grammar four or five hours a day.

36. Dream and Effort

I studied in humanities or in arts group in all my life. So, at first, computer was a scary thing. However, I
was attracted to Internet as I am always fond of knowledge and information. It was not easy for me to
become skilled in using computer and Internet. Luckily or unluckily, in 1999, a new computer magazine was
published in Bangladesh called „Computer Tomorrow‟. They needed a freelance writer who could translate
or write articles based on foreign magazines.
It was not a job for me but a freelance work. At first, it was very difficult for me as I did not still own a
desktop PC. So, often, I wrote about the things that I had no idea. So, I had to struggle a lot but I decided to
work very hard. I used to go the Computer Tomorrow office and spend hours every day reading many
articles in English language. I started doing it from 1 September 1999 and by the end of the year, I gained
good knowledge about this field of IT (Information Technology).
In 2000, I wrote many articles, reports and interviews for different Computer Magazines. On 1 January
2002, I decided to leave my job and totally focus on learning about Internet. I spent two years in a cyber
café- day and night and night and day, 15 hours a day.
Again, it was not easy at all. It was a challenge and now I realize that this simple effort has changed my life.
Now, I am the president of e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh.
I inspire all of you because I have seen that if you try for something from your heart you can achieve it. I
have not become a Bill Gates or Steve Jobs but I have become the first president of e-Commerce
Association of Bangladesh. Now, I am trying for this platform of Search English for all of you to learn
English freely.
All of you are lucky because I have used all my knowledge, talent, effort and experience to build this
platform for you. So, the only thing that you need to give is time and effort. We will have one after another
success stories from January 2017. Of course, you have to be regular but the future is bright. I can say it
from my own experience in life.

37. 12 Years: What went Wrong?

You have studied English language for 12 long years from class 1 to HSC. If we do something for 12 years,
we should become highly skilled in it. However, for us, it has happened the other way. We are weak in
English, we are afraid, we are ashamed to use it and finally we do not have any confidence. Sadly, it is not
the exception but it has become the rule. So, it is time to ask ourselves this question: what went wrong?

I will be writing a series of post about this matter today. So, be with me. What do you think went wrong?
Why are you weak in English despite reading for 12 years as a compulsory subject?

38. Win or Lose!

In Four months of Skype adda, we have seen that at least 50 persons could become skilled in speaking
English. They have spoken at least one hour and they have done it live in front of at least 20 other persons in
skype.
Anyone who has tried and given at least 15 days of time have been able to do it and from this point of view,
the success rate is 100%. This is perhaps enough to do some marketing and use these examples to earn
money. However, from first, I was committed that I was into this not for taking money from learners but I
wanted to create a solid platform for people to learn and develop themselves.
Now, the second part. I want many of you to become successful in writing. In your educational life and
career, you need to become skilled in writing first. You do not need to dream to become a content writer but
you must become skilled in writing- both in Bangla and in English.
I know that if anyone tries every day for just 4 hours then they can improve their writing within 3 months.
However, hardly anyone wants to try seriously for 3 months.
I will keep on trying because I want to win and I want to do something.

39. This post is for Partho Pratim Mazumder

I have known him for almost one year. I used to call him „bhejal‟ or trouble as he was fond of bhejal things.
Anyway, I did not like him at all. However, four months ago when I started Skype adda, he joined there and
became a regular person.
His background is full of bhejal. Ovi Partho vai passed HSC 4 years ago and then joined a private university.
He failed there and left his study. He has been sitting idle at home and wasting his time since then. His
mother is worried about him, his father is annoyed him, his relatives make fun of him. Even in Facebook, he
is known as “Akaimma” or good for nothing.
So, I did not have high hope about him. In fact, at first, he did not want to listen to me but asked bhejal
questions all the time. However, he tried to listen to me and thus, within 4 months, he has shown remarkable
progress.
Ovi vai tries his best and for the last two months, he just gets up from sleep and then eats his breakfast and
sits in front of his PC. Then he spends all his hours there and writes many posts a day. It has become his
daily routine. He has become fluent in writing. Within this year, he will become fluent in writing, he will
become skilled in grammar and I am confident that he will start writing in daily newspapers of Bangladesh. I
am also hopeful that within a year, he will start earning US dollar by writing in foreign websites and online
market places.
Thus, Ovi Partho bhai has worked hard to change his fortune, his career. Still everyone around him thinks
that he is a good for nothing person. Well, no problem- action will speak louder than anything someday.
I like to point out one thing for all of you- do not be afraid. Just try your best. You will become skilled in
English language within one year. As for myself, I am happy this eid that my guidance and teaching could
change the life and career of one young man .

40. Why do I care?

Without spending any money for marketing, Search English is growing rapidly. Many of you already know
that I am the president of e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh or e-CAB and I have to spend most of my
time there. Otherwise, Search English would have become more active and have more members. May be, by
now, we would have at least 7500 members.
Anyway, this group is heading towards huge success and it will happen very soon. It will become a very
famous group in the country and our website will also become very popular. To be honest, it has reached to
a position that I do not need to bother so much about the improvement of the participants. Instead, I can just
focus on marketing the group and getting more and more members.
Anyway, I really do not want to go for that path where I will be only concerned about the growth of the
group and get money and fame. Instead, I try my best to ensure that you can improve. Your improvement is
the number one thing in my mind and I really care for that.
Why do I care about you? I care because you are a human being just like me and you have joined this group
because you need to improve your English language skills. If you are good at English then you will do well
in your exams. You will have better grades. If you are good at English then the chance of getting a good job
increases- at least in Bangladesh. In short, you will have a better life.
That is why, I care and that is why I try my best for this group. I tried in the level that I became sick. I have
already got my success here. Search English has already become one of the most active groups in
Bangladesh within just one month. It is a vejal free platform- perhaps the best in the country. You can
practice English and spend as much time as possible.
So, I request you to care for Search English in the same level as I do. If you care for your improvement then
try your best and give a lot of time.

41. A very long and hard fought Battle

e-CAB has been a very long and hard fought battle for me. I feel very tired these days as I hardly had any
rest in the last 26 months. Some fights are worth fighting for. e-Commerce is now becoming an important
industry in our economy.
Now, my fight is Search English. The good thing is that here, I am not alone and it is not an association. So,
I do not have to face any vejal. My dream is very simple. I want to remove fear and shame among people
about using English language. If one million young people can do it then there will be a huge change in our
economy.
I have seriously started trying for Search English from 1 July 2016. The first 6 months are just for
practicing. After that, we will after grammar and correction. We will never correct mistakes but we will
create a lot of content about using English correctly. So, we will spend one year for creating content
regarding English language (2017).
Then from 1 January 2018, we will focus on presenting the earning potentials of English language. No, we
will not start training or coaching. We are not against coaching centers either.
There is huge potential in Bangladesh but we have more or less failed so far as we never took any initiative
to start from zero. Search English is that initiative. We have started from zero and people can join us free of
cost.

42. Search English is the only Bhejal Free Platform

44. The best way to fight against Depression

Just do the following things and you will feel some better.
We feel depressed because of basically 2-3 reasons- failure in love, unemployment and extreme poverty,
unhappiness and in family and poor performance in education. 95% of cases related to depression are
somehow connected to the 4 things mentioned above.
I have noticed that three things help me a lot:

1. When I am sad then I try to read the books that inspire me and watch the movies that give me some
mental peace. I suffered some serious bhejal and health breakdown during 2011-14. I watched many
movies during these 4 years. I read many inspiring texts, watched many videos in youtube. It helped
me a lot.
2. I like to go out for a walk and observe people in the street, streets, parks, lakes etc. Most people love
to watch rich people and fancy cars. I also do it too but at the same time I also try to see the condition
of poor people. The street children are trying to sell something or get some money through begging.
We get annoyed with them but the reality is that they do not want to sell or beg at this age. Instead,
they want to play and go to school and enjoy life. There are some people who do not have a leg or a
hand or cannot see (blind). We are more fortunate than them.
3. Finally, I like to donate some amount of money almost every day. I am not rich but I surely can
donate 1 taka or 2 taka per day. It does not take 100 taka to give a poor child in the street an ice
cream or a chocolate. Try it and you will see a lot of happiness in that child‟s face.

Finally, your depression is real and it will not simply go away but bad times do not stay forever. What is
needed is that you can stay calm and confident during tough times.

45. 21 Months
For the last 21 months, I am almost always active in Facebook. I started this mission on 1 November 2014.
We just started going public with e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB). I have written at least
300 hundred posts per month in Facebook and thus, I have written 6,000+ posts or may be even more.
Many people know me for my Facebook activities. When I call for any adda or any program, at least 30
persons join from different parts of Dhaka and sometimes from even Chittagong.
I have tried to keep two things- honesty and consistency. I always tried to stay from bhejal and instead tried
to create a network on dosto dosto gosto feeling. So, I am not a celebrity in Facebook but I have got real
trust and respect from many persons.
I am good at writing but I never used any marketing tactics to attract people or become popular. Instead, I
wrote from my heart and I tried for e-CAB as purely as possible. Because of it, many companies have joined
e-CAB and many people now know me and respect me.
21 Months ago, I was totally an unknown person in Facebook but now, I am the admin of e-CAB group as
well this Search English.
Anyway, I am writing this post to tell you one simple thing in life- if you want to achieve something then
you have to try your best for a long time. There is no short cut in life.
46. It’s Your Life, Your Education, Your career and Your Future: Not Mine
I created this group with the dream that Search English will become the largest and best platform in
Bangladesh for learning English. I feel that we are already half way there. The group has now 8200+
members and within this month, we are hoping to pass 10,000. The group is super active with many posts
and comments. Most of the members feel that it is a great place- free of cost and free of bhejal.
At the same, I had the dream and goal to make sure that people can improve- really improve. You see the
basic idea behind Facebook or YouTube is to create user generated content. In other words, Facebook does
not create any content or YouTube does not create any video. We the users create the posts and add photos
in Facebook and make videos and upload in YouTube. Facebook owners or YouTube owners do not care
whether you can be benefited. They only care for activities and more content so that they can make money.
It is very easy for me to follow that idea and I have people like Abul Khayer bhai and Mohan bhai to do
something similar or create a platform for user generated content and earn money without bothering whether
the members can be benefited or not. I wanted to focus on only one thing- members can improve their
English skills by overcoming fear and shame.
The basic idea is that you will practice here a lot and no one will be able to criticize you, laugh at you or
make fun of you. That is why, we do not encourage even pointing mistakes. You just try to get skill of
speaking 2-3 hours and writing 2000 words a day. You should be able to do that within just 2-3 months if
you spend a lot of time. Then, you start reading grammar yourself. By that time, your understanding or
comprehension of English language should reach to a good level.
You have already seen the success of Partho Pratim Mazumder. He became successful only because he
really tried and worked hard. He has got a career now despite the fact that he is just HSC pass. He even
failed in university and a dropped out.
There is no short cut, there is no marketing. We do not want to sell anything here- no course, no book. All
we care is that you can overcome your fear and shame and then you try to practice day and night. After that
you try to become skilled in English grammar. After that, you try to use this skill in your education and
career.
This is my dream and I am trying very hard for my dream. It is important to have a good environment and
we have perhaps the best environment in Bangladesh. Here, we respect everyone and we especially respect
girls.
In Bangladesh, we need to be skilled in English in our educational life. English skill is needed for our career
and for freelancing too. There is no need to emphasize or explain the importance of English language in
Bangladesh. We just need it and there can be no argument or debate over it.
If you believe that Search English is a good place to practice without any fear and shame then take it
seriously. It is your life, your career and your education not mine. Search English is growing rapidly and
with it the name of Razib Ahmed is reaching to more and more people. I have already achieved a lot of fame
and respect because of my effort for e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB). Now, I am achieving
even more fame and success for Search English. Next year by this time, at least a million people will know
about Search English in Bangladesh. Many universities will invite me talk to their students and help them to
overcome their weakness in English. Newspapers, online news websites, radio stations and TV channels will
talk about Search English and me almost every day. This is bound to happen within the next 10-11 months
or even earlier.
Again, my main dream is that all of you can become skilled and will be able this skill for your education and
career. It can only happen if you are serious, dedicated and spend a lot of time here. Otherwise, I will
become very successful but most of you will just watch it in TV, read it in newspapers and will have no
benefit, no real improvement.
So, it is up to you as it is your life not mine.
47. Just one Good post a Day
After 5 months of trying, e-Commerce World has finally become a group about e-commerce, business,
economy and technology. I am satisfied with the group. Good posts are coming but we lack comments.
Anyway, my dream is that we will make it as one of the best business groups in Facebook. So, I request all
of the regular writers to write just one post every day. Spend one hour for writing a post. Try to wtie around
300 words, think a lot, search and read about it- then write it.
Why am I asking you to do it? After all, I am the one who all the time insisted that you must write 5-6 posts
a day. I even give a post about anyone who can write 10 posts in a single day. For writing practice, we have
another group called Search English and write as many posts as you like. However, here, I want you to write
only one post a day. It is not an order or rule but just an advice.
You see, already, many e-commerce entrepreneurs have joined this group. They will be looking for talented
and skilled workers and freelancers. They will look for business partners and business opportunities.
Therefore, you have a very good opportunity to showcase your talent and knowledge about e-commerce.
So, write one quality post a day and try to write 10 comments. Do it every day for one year and you will see
the progress.

48. Why do I encourage you so much?

Just 18 months ago, some people laughed at me in Facebook and in real life because I try to encourage
others. It is a part of my natural instinct. I have seen magical improvements to a number of people who have
spent one year of time with me. The formula is very simple. I ask them to practice speaking for 1 month and
then I ask them to start writing just 25 word long comments in blogs and Facebook posts. By the end of the
second month, they can write around 1000 words a day. I also ask them to watch movies to develop their
listening skill.
From the 3rd month onward, I ask them read a lot and read anything they like online. Thus, by the end of the
third month, they start to feel confident and start to dream about the future. Then I ask them to just continue
doing the thing that they are doing. Thus, they develop fluency and also a genuine habit and interest about
using and practicing English language.
Thus, by the end of the sixth month, they improve significantly and then they start practicing grammar. This
is my formula and I am testing it here. I have already noticed significant improvement for a number of
persons within just 3 months. If they can continue with me for another 9 months, I am confident that most of
them will write in newspapers and magazines in both Bangla and English. Some of them will become
content writers and some of them will improve a lot in their university education no matter which subject
they are studying.
It is up to you whether you like to be with me or not. However, if anyone stays with me for one long year
will surely become attached to me for whole life. I am not charging any money for my teaching and
guidance. I am not concerned how many of you will stay with me until December 31, 2016. I am just
concerned that whoever stays with me can shine in their education and career. After all, we are a band of
brothers.

49. There are many long posts and comments in Search English
I am happy today because I have noticed that there are many long posts and comments in Search English.
We have stopped approving one sentence posts, translation and mcq posts since 1 January and at first, I was
worried about the activity of the group. I am happy that I do not need to worry anymore. Now, the group is
very active.
Why do I care about the activity? When we see that this group is very active then we feel connected with it.
Also, we have more reading materials. I personally read many comments every day. I read because I get new
ideas and information. I am sure that you also have the same experience.
We write many posts and read them. We write and read many comments every day. We encourage each
other, we get inspired from people like Ruman vai oir Shipra apu. They do not have any facility but they
never complain. Instead, they are working hard to learn English. They are becoming skilled very fast. If they
can continue here for just one more year then naturally, they will improve a lot. I want many success stories
like them. It was my dream that anyone who spends time here regularly will have real improvement and I
can say that so far, the success rate is 100%.
The only advice I want to give you is that please, be regular. This platform is now growing and it will have
many success stories in 2017 and in 2018, it will be one of the best platforms in the world. It is not my
credit. It is happening because many of you have joined hands together.
So, please be regular because if you want to have real result then you must be regular.
It is you who are doing it. So, be serious and be regular. Try your best. If you can become skilled and can
use it for getting better results in your exams and also getting jobs then Search English will become a real
platform. Let us all try for that.

50. Shipra Debnath: Against all Odds

I am very happy to see the improvement of Shipra Debnath apu. She has been trying a lot for the last 3 and a
half months. She does not have any desktop or laptop and she does not have a lot of free time either. Still,
she has tried her best and if she can continue this way then she will have bright future.
I felt very happy after reading her comment:

51. Bhutan and the Happiness Niche in Business World

Chip Conley has written an excellent article in Huffington Post: What Business Leaders Can Learn From
Bhutan. He has praised the goal of increasing Gross National Happiness by Bhutanese Government instead
of focusing too much on Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Chip Conley thinks that business leaders can learn
from this matter. He thinks that small business owners should try to learn from Bhutanese example. You
know that small business owners often have a rough time in competing against the big companies.
He is right because from my own experience, I know that it is very difficult to survive as a small business
owner. Mr. Conley thinks that the best strategy for small business owners should be to focus on a small
niche that they like and try to be the best in it. After reading his entry, I realized that I have to do the same
thing. I have been trying to manage a small blog network of 14 blogs and it put a lot of stress on me lately.
Today, I realized that I should just focus on the blog that I enjoy most and really I enjoy this South Asia
Blog most.
Nothing brings me more happiness than seeing this blog to succeed because I live in this part of the world.
So, I am going to learn from the Bhutanese example.

52. Don’t Give Up Your Dream of becoming a Writer

I often wish that I could give up everything and just work on this blog only. Well, life is not like that. I have
to write about the things that I do not like that much to earn money and pay all the bills. This is life. Well, I
do not regret it because what is the benefit if I have to suffer tension about money? Then I can write in this
blog anyway. It is a natural part of life.
In fact, most of the days, I became too much tired and even sometimes it is difficult to write anything in this
blog. I dreamt of writing short stories and novels but I know just write some blog entries and get good
number visitors every week and every month. The only good thing is that I have not lost the dream. I know
that when I can have some kind of financial independence then I can come back here and regularly write
stories and novels. I have many ideas and I know the characters. They are in my mind. I just need to get free
from the tension of money and paying bills.
I know that this is a common problem for many of you. Just don‟t give up the dream.

53. SAARC Summit 2010: Bhutan Comes Under the Spotlight

Except Indian Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, the other leaders from the region have already arrived
in Bhutan for the 2010 SAARC Summit. I wish that there was some information about the Summit in the
SAARC website. Anyway, this time, the event is taking place in Thimphu, Bhutan. Thimphu is a small city
with just around 100,000 people. Naturally, it does not have the necessary infrastructures to accommodate
such a big event. For example, it has become some sort of a logistic nightmare to accommodate nearly 300
journalists who are going to cover the event. Naturally, all the journalists will not be able to gather at the
same time at the same place to collect news.
You may wonder why so many journalists have come to collect news. Well, SAARC Summit 2010 is a very
important event for the 8 countries of South Asian region. This event has national importance for countries
like India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. All these 3 countries have flourishing and vibrant media.
Of course, the media people will focus mainly on the Summit. However, I think that some of them will try to
know about Bhutan more and write about the different aspects of the country. For example, if I could go
there, I would perhaps write more about Bhutan than the SAARC Summit. I am attracted towards this
country and its people a lot. I hope that with this Summit, we will know a lot about Bhutan and its people.

54. Nepal to look to South Asia for Boosting Tourism

I always dream to travel to Nepal and Bhutan. Nepal has perhaps 7 of the top mountain peaks on the world
and it is also the birth place of Lord Buddha. Well, I even live in a neighboring country of Nepal-
Bangladesh. I know that many people from my country visits Nepal each year for tourism. Still, I have not
noticed any significant effort from Nepalese government to attract Bangladeshi tourists. I mean, I have never
seen any promotional activity in my city from Nepalese government.
I guess that Nepalese government officials and private companies were happy until now to have more
tourists from Europe and America than neighboring countries like Bangladesh. Of course, a tourist from
USA would spend much more money than I can afford to. The economic recession is hurting the tourism
sector of the country and that is why, Nepalese decision makers are now contemplating on the idea of
attracting more tourists from South Asian countries and China.
In fact, Nepal is going to promote its tourist attractions aggressively in some Indian cities to attract from
visitors from India. In fact, the government has come up with a new tourism policy with the goal of
diversifying the industry in the country.

55. Printed Book or Ebook: Which is better?

Even today, by the term book, we mainly understand printed books on paper. Yes, ebooks in digital format is
making in roads and is getting more and more in circulation but still, most people do not have that much
good idea about it. So, there is some mistrust.
I like ebooks more than printed books because first of all they are much cheaper. Secondly, they are always
available in your PC or internet. Others cannot steal them. You cannot think of any free book but in Internet
there are many ebooks free of charge. In fact, most of the English classic books are free to download from
some websites. When I was a university student, 10-15 years ago, we used to buy Penguin classics and now,
I can find all of them free online.

56. Nepal to Waive Visa Fee for Foreign Tourists for the Year 2011
According to a proposal made by the Nepal Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoTCA), foreign
tourists visiting Nepal in 2011 would not be charged any visa fee. The initiative has been taken ahead of the
Nepal Tourism Year 2011 campaign.
The proposal of wavering visa fee was suggested by the Nepal Tourism Year 2011 National Coordination
Committee. Then MoTCA has sent the proposal to the Ministry of Finance recommending it to be included
in the upcoming budget for the year 2010/11.
Each of the foreign tourists visiting Nepal, except those from the SAARC countries, now pays $25 for a 15-
day visa and $40 for a 40-day visa.
Now, Nepal is trying to boost up its flourishing tourism industry by attracting more tourists from various
parts of the world. That is the reason MoTCA has taken up the Nepal Tourism Year 2011 project. More than
half a million foreign tourists visited Nepal in 2009, but the country is now expecting over one million
tourists in 2011.
Nepal has many tourist-attraction places including Himalayan Mountain, Pokhara Valley, Lumbini, the birth
place of Lord Buddha, Gosainkunda lake, and many others.
Nepal‟s tourism sector contributes a lot to its economy. The number of tourists visiting Nepal has been
increased significantly over the last few years since the country‟s political condition has been stable. Now,
Nepal government is taking up various initiatives to attract more tourists in the country.

57. Bhutan government is thinking about starting crop insurance for farmers
Bhutan government might introduce crop insurance from April next year. The government is still thinking
about the insurance and it did not make any announcement but if introduced, it would highly benefit the
farmers.
The Royal Insurance Corporation of Bhutan (RICBL), in collaboration with the Agriculture Ministry,
submitted the proposal of crop insurance to the Finance Ministry in September 2008 but the government is
still working on the matter.
The two government agencies decided to introduce the proposal after they received requests from many
farmers for compensation for crop damages from the government.
Tenzin Chophel, Chief policy and planning division, Agriculture Ministry, said that they are still waiting for
the response of finance ministry. This is more like a social service than a profit generating business. He also
said that such a scheme would create communal resilience for communities which would protect the
farmers.
The crop insurance will be categorized based on marginal, small and big land owners. Land less then an acre
will be considered marginal, between one and three acres would be small and more than three acres would
be considered big.
Marginal land holders will be given Nu 40,000 in case if they are struck by minor disasters. Small land
owners will be given Nu 60,000 and big land holders will be provided Nu 100,000. In case of a major
disaster, the government will intervene.

58. Writing is a lonely work even when you are Famous
It is now 8 AM in my city. Tonight, I worked almost whole night. For the last 10 hours, I am working with
my PC and Internet. Of course, I ate my dinner and did some chatting with my wife who is now in another
country for few weeks and also lay in bed some. Still, I worked a lot tonight and updated a number of blogs.
I am happy with my work. I think that I nearly posted 8 entries in different blogs. So, it was a good work
done. Well, as I said in the title, writing is indeed a very lonely job. I am writing alone. Even if I become
successful as a blogger and freelance writer, still when I will write I will have to do it all alone.
This part of writing will perhaps never change because in the end, you have to think and then produce
something. For this, you need some quiet place and isolation from everything. I have to read a lot first and
then I can produce something. Even this reading part is done mainly in isolation.

59. Rejection and Failures: Best Friends of A Freelance Writer

We do not like rejections in life. We also want to become successful. However, if you are a freelance writer
then you should be mentally prepared for both of them. First of all, you will send you writings to many
newspapers, magazines and publishers and it is normal that you will get rejected in your early years of your
freelance career. This happens to majority of them.
Failure is no way better than rejection. You write something with a lot of efforts and then your readers did
not like it. Of course, you have to be persistent and continue. Laziness will never take you far. Today, I read
a cover story in a computer magazine and I realized that the person who wrote it did it in a very lazy fashion.
He did not do any research and this way it became a very bad cover story. It is bad for both the writer and
the magazine.
You should not be like this if you wan to become a successful writer. You have to remember that it is a long
and tough process. You need all the mental energy and dedication.

60. Netherfield Park: Mr. Bingley and Mr. Bennet

I feel happy that I can keep my promise of yesterday that I would write about Pride and Prejudice for the
whole month of October 2009. This is the first day and today, I read the first two chapters of the novel. They
mainly deal with Mr. and Mrs Bennet. Mrs. Bennet is excited that a rich and single young man has come to
stay atNetherfield Park. She thinks that it is a great opportunity for her five daughters because this rich
young man named Mr. Bingley may get married with one of his daughters. So, in Chapter I, she tries to
persuade Mr. Bennet to visit him and get acquainted. Mr. Bennet makes fun with her.
In second chapter, we find that Mr. Bennet had already visited Netherfield Park and met Mr. Bingley. This
matter came as a great shock to his wife and daughters and they all are very happy.
It gives us a glimpse of the social condition of Jane Austen‟s time. Marriage was the most important thing
for girls. Later we will know the reason. Inheritance law was bad and since, Mr. Bennet did not have any son
so after his death, the wealth would not go to his family members (daughters). So, it was important for the
girls to get married with men of decent income.
If we look at today‟s Britain then it is clear that things have changed totally. Many young men and women
do not even want to get married and live together and even many children are born out of wedlock. So,
people like Mrs. Bennet in our time are not worried for their daughters getting married to rich young men in
England. Well, many of them are perhaps worried that whether their girls would get married at all. In 200
years, British society has transformed from a family oriented one to individualistic one. Netherfield Park has
lost significance.
61. Difference Between Elizabeth Bennet and Jane Bennet
They are two sisters. Jane is the elder one and then is Elizabeth. However, from first, it is perhaps clear to us
that Elizabeth is smarter and with stronger personality. On the other hand, Jane was an innocent and at times
a naïve young who trusts people very easily. Of course, what is interesting to me is that in Pride and
Prejudice, Jane Austen kept a character called Jane in the first place but then she did not make her the
heroine of the novel. This is funny to me because if I write a novel then I would never keep a character with
my name.
Anyway, I want to be a successful novelist someday but at this moment, I am no body. I just promised you
to write about Pride and Prejudice throughout October 2009 in this blog and this is the second time, I am
doing it.
Jane is prettier while Elizabeth Bennet is smarter. Jane admires people very easily while her younger sister
has a much more critical eye. Thus, if you had read the novel then you would perhaps agree with me that the
two sisters are quite opposite. Well, somehow, I find that they have something in common.
Both of them are good young girls. They became like their father Mr. Bennet. It is clear that Mr. Bennet was
a kind hearted and good man and he was very supportive to his daughters. Both Jane and Elizabeth has got
the same attitude. They like each other and they are very supportive. They are adorable and any man would
become lucky and perhaps happy if they get married to either of them. Of course, if you are a man then you
have to understand the value of girls like these two sisters.
I think that this is thing that Jane Austen wanted to show us. Yes, the two sisters have opposite personality
traits. Yet, they are adorable, good and lovely. They believe in goodness and kindness and try to act to their
idea. Many men while looking for a wife do not know what qualities they should look into a woman.
Perhaps, the message of Jane Austen is that first search goodness in a girl and then other things. Only then, a
man can be lucky and happy in a marriage.
Jane Bennet was a very ordinary girl but she was a good girl and Mr. Bingley was surely lucky to become
her husband. Of course, we have to assume that they lived happily ever after.

62. What do you think of Pride and Prejudice Novel?

It seems that today is the day of writing from my heart. When I started blogging, this was my motto that I
would write what I feel and what I believe. It is not that I do not do it but may be, I try to make a balance
between my feelings and what I should say. So, today, it is the day to say my feeling. Pride and Prejudice is
a great novel and very popular one. It is perhaps one of the top ten widely read novels in the world. I like it
but there are some things I do not like.
First of all, both Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bingley are rich young men. There is nothing wrong in their being rich
but my problem is that Jane Austen has shown them as good men too. Well, in my life, I have seldom seen
rich men being good. Perhaps the main reason they are bad is that they exploit their workers and become
rich or richer. Mr. Darcy was a rich estate owner in a rural area. So, it is obvious that the farmers under him
suffered a lot and this way, he became rich and he would become richer. I mean this is a common story in
every part of the world. Landlords in the past were rarely good. That is why, when industrial revolution took
place in England, thousands of people from rural areas came to new towns and cities to work as labors.
Jane Austen has not told anything about Mr. Darcy as a landowner. Elizabeth saw and fell in love with the
beauty of the place. Well, Jane Austen was mostly confined to her house and family. So, she did not have
that much scope to investigate and experience the life of ordinary farmers under people like Mr. Darcy.
Thus, we cannot blame her in this regard.
63. Miss Caroline Bingley in Pride and Prejudice Novel
Caroline Bingley or Miss Bingley is perhaps one of the most annoying characters in Jane Austen‟s
novel Pride and Prejudice. She is a very good example of a flat character- she does not change at all from
the beginning to the end. She is a very selfish and rude girl. The funny thing is that Miss Bingley always
tries to show others that she comes from a good family and she is a noble lady with good qualities. Well, she
is like an empty vessel who indeed sounds too much. When she comes to the area of Elizabeth, she always
thinks that she is higher than any girl on that area.
Miss Bingley is not even a smart girl. She really lacks IQ. Her only work is to show off and she was
determined to get married to Mr. Darcy in anyway. It seems to me that at first Mr. Darcy likes her but the
more time passes he understands the true nature of Miss Bingley and he tries to avoid her. She is such a
foolish girl that she even does not understand the simple thing that Mr. Darcy wants to avoid her.
Caroline is also example of a shallow person. She is a hypocrite. She at first she pretended that she liked
Jane Bennet and she was her friend. However, later we can find that she turned against Jane and she tried to
convince her brother to leave Jane and become interested about Miss Darcey.
It is clear that Jane Austen did not like the character of Miss Bingley at all. She must have in real life met
such characters who came from rich families but were shallow, surface and selfish. The readers do not feel
any sympathy towards her because Miss Bingley is always a bad person without any good quality.

64. Online Transaction and Bangla Literature

I would not blame you if get shocked from the title of this entry. There is no relationship between online
transaction and Bangla literature. However, since I started this blog on Bangla literature almost 4 years ago,
I realized that this is a field in which earning money is almost impossible in Internet. So, if you cannot earn
money then you have to take it as a hobby and I did it. As a result, I have not been able to publish even just
100 entries related to Bangla Literature in this blog because I simply don‟t have the time and motivation.
Today, Bangladesh Bank has issued a circular and through it has legalized online transaction in Bangladesh.
Thus from now, people inBangladesh would be able to buy and sell something in Internet. Well, I think that
it has opened a new opportunity for Bangla Literature. Now, if someone wants to send some money online
to me then it is possible. It does not have to be 1,000 taka. Just imagine that if someone sends just 10 taka
after reading this blog or any website about Bangla literature then it will perhaps encourage people like me
to give more effort. It does not matter to me if I can get money but I am sure that this announcement of
online transaction in Bangladesh would create a lot of opportunities. Bangla literature will be benefited as a
result.

65. World Cup Cricket 2011 will Start from Bangladesh

It gives me a lot pleasure to inform you that ICC World Cup Cricket 2011 will start from Bangladesh- my
country. This will be the biggest event for this country. We have never hosted any sporting event bigger than
perhaps SAF Games. So, it is nice to see that the opening ceremony will take place here and also the
opening match. The first match will be between India and Bangladesh. In World Cup 2007, Bangladesh
caused a major upset by defeating India. So, we are hoping that the same thing may happen in 2011.
I can imagine that Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur will be packed with the spectators and there will
be huge support forBangladesh national team. Bangladesh will play all the group matches in front of their
home crowd. The matches will take place in February and March and at this time of the year, weather is
excellent. There is almost no possibility of rain despite the fact thatBangladesh has one of the highest
rainfalls in the world. When it comes to security concerns, I think that of all the 3 countries hosting the
event, Bangladesh has most peace and least amount of violence. So, you can think of coming here that time.
66. The Gift of the Magi: Just One Reason to Read a Short Story
It was perhaps my good luck that in college, we had to study the short story The Gift of the Magi written by
O. Henry. It my most favorite short story and I have ready it many many times. I first read it in 1990 and
that was 19 years ago. My enjoyment of reading it has not diminished at all and has increased over the years.
That time, I was a teenager boy and the story profoundly affected. I dreamt that someday, my own couple
life will be like this. Thanks God that it has been even perhaps better. However, for the idea of happy couple
life, I think that I owe a lot from The Gift of the Magi.
The plot of the story is very simple. Jim and Della are a loving and happy couple. Their economic condition
is not good. It is the day before Christmas. Jim had no money to buy any gift for his wife and vice versa. He
had a gold watch which he inherited from his family and he sold it to buy a set of expensive combs so that
Della can take better care of her lovely hair. Della has extraordinary hair and they are long and shiny. She
sold the hair to buy a chain for that gold watch of Jim. This way, what they bought became useless but they
understood that they are the happiest couple.
This short story created the thrust in me to find a girl like Della in real life. Fortunately, I found one and she
was in Internet in another country. Even we did not have the same language and she was very weak in
English. Still, we love each other a lot and we waited for each other in Internet for nearly 4 years. Many
people around me laughed at me that I was wasting my time for an Internet girl. I came from a lower middle
class family and even saving enough money to visit her country was impossible for 4 years.
It was my good luck that I read The Gift of the Magi at a very early age and it surely influenced me a lot. All
I can tell you is that if you have not read the short story then do it right away. You can read it free in Internet
here:http://www.auburn.edu/~vestmon/Gift_of_the_Magi.html
I wish that in our own time, we have good short stories like this. By the way, there is one short story that I
have written and you can find it here: http://write-translate.blogspot.com/2006/02/helpless-short-story.html
So, enjoy my story for the time being.

67. Is night the best Time for Writing?

I have heard this thing from many people that their best time of writing is at night. I do not know the reason
but I think that they may feel that at night, nature is quite and there is less sound pollution to deal with if you
live in a city. As for me, I am more of a night worker. I don‟t know how I can change my sleeping habit. I
wish that I could do it but it is very difficult. At day, interruptions are easier to happen. For example, a guest
may come to your home. You may have to do the shopping and cooking. Then there is the sound of cars all
the time if you live in a busy neighborhood like me. However, at night, there is less distractions. In fact, it is
now 5 AM my time in my city and there is no sound at all. So, I can concentrate on my writing better. The
only problem is that I have started to feel sleepy.
I don‟t think that night is the best time for writing. I think that if possible you should try to work at day time
because it is the natural thing to do. If you are awake at night all the time then you just make your health
weaker day by day.

68. Have you written anything Today?

I noticed that I waste a lot of time every day and I do very small amount of writing. I browse Internet, check my stats,
watch TV etc etc. Thus, I waste a lot of time and this way, I find very small amount of time to do the actual writing. I
am a blogger and freelance writer. So, if I don‟t write then I cannot earn money- this is as simple as that. Anyone who
is either a blogger or a freelance writer has the same condition like me. Today, I was thinking that one of the biggest
problems that I face is that instead of doing the writing, I think about other things a lot.

For example, one of my problem is that I get easily distracted with other things. When I sit to write then I constantly
think about the quality of the entry that I am working on. I also think about the length. I am worried whether I am
giving the correct information and appropriate analysis. I guess that many writers have the same problem like me.
I encourage you to read something in this regard:

Do You Recognize These 10 Mental Blocks to Creative Thinking?

69. Tips about Internet for Would Be Journalists

I have to say that the distance between journalists and bloggers is decreasing significantly. Sarah Hartley
wrote an excellent article that I could find in the website of the Guardian: Ten essential points for journalism
jobseekers in a digital age
The title perhaps clearly says what it is about. If you are looking for a journalism job then you should read it.
I found the tips to be valuable and I am sure that after reading it, you will agree with me too.
Some people think that Internet is very easy and all you need perhaps is just to link to something else. Well,
it is not like that. The printed newspaper industry is suffering problem everywhere in the West. We hear of
job cuts in famous newspapers of USA on a regular basis. Web is the future and if you are a journalist then
you should not neglect the Web.

70. Character of Jim in The Gift of the Magi

The Gift of the Magi is one of famous short stories of O. Henry. James (Jim) Dillingham is the hero of this
short story. He is a hard working but poor young man. He loves his wife and it is clear in the story that he all
the time tries for the happiness of his couple life. He is ready to sacrifice everything for his wife.
Many men perhaps are not like Jim. They do no understand the beautiful part of couple life. You may argue
that characters like him can be in literature only and they are not found in real life easily. Yes, may be you
are right. However, if we look at his character then we can perhaps realize that becoming like him is not that
difficult. It is not that he was a very romantic person in modern sense. He could not afford to take his wife to
Opera or sea beach. He even could not give his wife that much time because from morning to night he had to
work very hard. Still, he loved his wife from his heart.
If you are a husband then perhaps you can follow this quality of Jim of The Gift of the Magi. Just try to love
your wife more from your heart. You can start it from today. It wont cost you any money or even any extra
time. It is just a matter of feeling. You can respect her more. You can depend on her more. You can share
your feelings and emotion with her more. If Jim can do it, you can too.

71. What are your Writing Goals in 2010?

2009 is almost coming to an end. 2010 is going to start after 12 days. It is the time to look back to the last
one year and make some plans and goals for the next year. 2009 was a bad year for me. One after another
problem made my life very difficult. The worst was the impact of economic recession. I suffered a lot for
this matter as far as my income is concerned. So, you may wonder that increasing income should be my first
goal for 2010. Well, more than that, I want to write everyday. This year, I could not write regularly and this
is my main sadness for the passing year. In 2010, the only goal I have to write for my blogs every day and I
want to create content of at least 2000 words per day for the blogs. The more I can create than this target is
better.
What are your goals for 2010? Do you the meaning of Kwop Kilawtley? It is a phrase that is driving many
people mad.
72. John Bunyan and The Pilgrim’s Progress
The Pilgrim‟s Progress is a masterpiece not only of John Bunyan but also of the 17 th century England. John
Bunyan wrote it in sometime after 1660 and it was published in 1678. Since then, this book has never gone
out of print and it has been translated to around 200 languages. This shows that The Pilgrim‟s Progress is
one of the most popular books written ever in any language. It is a classic book.
I read it when I studied English Literature (I did my BA or Bachelor in English Literature) in University of
Dhaka. I liked the book the first time I read it. Well, to be honest with you, anything related to the Civil War
of England (of the 17thcentury) and related to conflicts among the Anglicans, Catholics and Puritans attracted
me a lot when I was a student of English Literature. I like to study about politics and history a lot. The
Pilgrim‟s Progress is more than a literary work and novel (if it is indeed a novel). In fact, I like to take it as a
book on History, Religion and Politics of England of the second half of the 17th century.
In the last few days, I again read The Pilgrim‟s Progress. I reread the book after 12 years. English is not my
mother tongue and 12 years ago, I was not so skilled in English like now. Yet, I remember that I did not
have that much problem reading and understanding The Pilgrim‟s Progress a decade ago. It is a large book
but I enjoyed reading the book and I could finish it in just 3 days. Have you rea

73. What is your most favorite drama of Shakespeare?

There is little doubt that Shakespeare is most popular dramatist in the whole world. There are other
dramatists in other languages but no one could reach near Shakespeare when it comes to popularity. He died
almost 400 years ago but still, his dramas are played in every country in the whole world.
So now, let us come back to the original question that I asked at the beginning of this entry. If you ask me
then my answer is that I like Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet and the Merchant of Venice.
I like Romeo and Juliet because it shows that love is always higher than everything else. The Merchant of
Venice has a good plot that is focused on around theme of justice. Then, hamlet talks about revenge.

74. Epic Poetry in the 21st Century

We all are fan of epic poetry. There are many poems in differentcountries and some of the poems are
considered to be a part of national heritage and treasure. Think of Iliad and Odyssey. They
were written originally in Greece but in our time, they are considered to be a part of the heritage of
European civilization. Well, you have to agree with me on one mandate that most of the epic poems
werewritten many years ago or I should say many centuries ago. I cannot think of any notable epic of the
twentieth century in any language.
What about the twentieth century? I wonder whether we can find any national epic in this century. What is
your idea about it?

75. The Success of Stephenie Meyer

If you do not know who is Stephenie Meyer then you should read theWikipedia entry on her. This December
she is going to celebrate her 35th birthday. She is not that old yet but Stephenie Meyer is now a successful
name in the world of writing. Yes, her rise from obscurity should inspire all the people in the world who
have the dream tobecome a writer. She used Internet in an effective way to promote her book.
Yes, Internet has given us a great opportunity. For example, think of this blog. Around 30-40 persons visit it
everyday and sometimes, they write comments. Well, I don‟t have the free time to give for writing fiction
but who knows someday this blog may help me to become a successful fiction writer.
I am very busy at this moment with establishing a new blog:Sports37. If you are a fan of sports then I invite

76. Persian influence in Bangla (Bengali) Literature

The issue of Persian influence in Bangla literature can be treated from 3 points of views: Use of Persian
words in Bangla literature, translations of works from Persian poets and writers and influence of Persian
writing, religion, society and philosophy in the works of Bengali poets and writers. This is such a vast topic
that a number of books can be written about it. In this article, I will just cast some light about this topic
based on the 3 categories I just mentioned. There has been some research about this theme in Bangla
language but nothing substantial in English or in Persian (Farsi).
There is no accurate statistics of the number of Persian words in Bangla language. Estimates vary from
3000-8000 words. Some words are used in everyday language and most people even do not know that these
words are foreign words. After the Muslim conquest of Bengal in 1204, for the next 2 centuries we hardly
find any works written by Muslims in Bangla. Muslims writers were always divided in using Persian words
from first. Some writers used a lot of Persian and Arabic words in their writings. Some writers have
completely refrained from doing so. Many poets and writers have followed a middle ground by mainly using
the religious words and very common words. The current trend is to use the every day used Persian words of
Bangla language in literature. However, one thing should be noted here. Persian words have been used by
both Hindu and Muslim poets and writers.
From first the Muslims writers and even some Hindu writers have either directly translated texts from
Persian literature or wrote their own version of a popular story. Not only Persian texts on religion have been
translated but romantic tales were very popular also. Leili Majnu, Yousuf Joleykha are among the popular
Persian tales that have been either translated or retold by more than one poets in Bangla literature. Works of
Hafiz, Omar Khyam, Jalaluddin Rumi, Ferdowsi have also been translated in Bangla.
Many poets in Bangla literature have been deeply influenced by Persian literature, philosophy and religion.
The influence of Persian literature is clearly evident in the writings of two of the greatest figures of Bangla
literature, Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam. Tagore was influenced by the mysticism of Hafiz.
Tagore‟s father was a passionate admirer of the poems of Hafiz and in Taore‟s poetry is heavily domainted
by love, beauty and mysticism- common themes in the poetry of Hafiz too. On the other hand, Kazi Nazrul
Islam knew Persian very well and he was familiar with Persian literature perhaps more than any other writer
in Bangla literature in 20th century. Kazi Nazrul Islam has used Persian words very skillfully and surpassed
every poet before or after him in this matter.
Persian influence in Bangla literature has enriched Bangla literature a lot. It has added a new flavor to
Bangla literature and has contributed a lot in its development.

77. Sharat Chandra Chatterjee (1876-1938): The most popular Bengali novelist
Today, I like to write about Sharat Chandra, the most famous novelist in Bangla (Bengali) literature.
Actually, if I am not wrong then Sharat Chandra is perhaps the most famous novelist of South Asia. His
novels have been translated into many major languages of South Asia and in India his novels especially
Devdas has been made into movies in some languages. It seems that Bollywood loves Sharat Chandra and
Devdas as there have been 3 movies in Bollywood based on this novel.
Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay had to struggle a lot in his early life because of the death of his parents.
Fortunately, after finishing his studies in school he could go to college for two years. After that his life was
full of struggle for a long time. At that time many Bengalis went to Rangoon (now Yangoon) capital of
Burma (Myanmar) which was a part of British Empire. Sarat Chandra worked in the government service as
an ordinary clerk for some time. He was a gifted writer and he kept his habit of writing all through his life.
He wrote some short and long stories that became famous but it was in novel that he showed his skills best.
His novels earned him fame and fortunate- both. At that time, no writer could think of having a decent life
style by writing alone. Sarat Chandra first successfully broke this barrier as his novels became commercially
successful. He was perhaps the first writer in Bangla literature to be accepted by people from every class of
the society. His depiction of Bengali society is unmatched by any writer before or after him. His female
characters are still considered to be the role model for women in Bengali society.

78. Sharat Chandra Chatterjee (1876-1938): The most popular Bengali novelist (2)
(In the last post I discussed briefly about Sarat Chandra Chatterjee. Today, I like to post the second part of
the article.)
Why Sarat Chandra Chatterjee is so popular? It is not very difficult to answer this question. Among Bengali
novelists, he could first depict social issues and everyday life that touch the ordinary people. His heroes are
not exactly demigods. They come from middle class background. His heroines are not raving beauty too.
They are very ordinary people like the boy or the girl next door. Of course, they have something
extraordinary in them or else the readers would not become engrossed with the novels of Sarat Chandra
Chatterjee. All his characters possess inner strength to an admirable level. That is why they are attractive. In
the novels, they do not try to achieve something great- rather their achievements are limited to the
aspirations of ordinary life. Their tragedies are like that too.
In his attempt to draw attention of the readers to the social problems, Sarat Chandra Chatterjee can be easily
compared with Charles Dickens. Sarat Chandra spoke defiantly against the caste system among Hindus and
abuse and discrimination against women in most of his novels and short stories. He called for having a
humanistic approach towards marriage and family life. He faced bitter criticism from the Orthodox Hindus
for this but he never stopped writing what he believed.
(More discussions will follow about this great writer in the coming days too.)

.79. Main problem of Blogging

I have been blogging for quite some time now and I have achieved some decent amount of success in the
world of blogging. I am perhaps the only full time professional blogger from my country Bangladesh. My
blogs have been visited by ore than 500,000 visitors in the last 11 months and this is not a bad achievement
for a completely newbie blogger. My blogs have been linked from prestigious websites and blogs on
numerous occasions. After 11 months of continuous blogging the main problem that I can think of now is
that I give too much time for browsing Internet. I guess that it is a common problem for many bloggers.
Most of my time is spent in reading different newspapers and websites. I love to read about the world and
that is why every day for many hours I just keep on reading the newspapers in Internet. That takes away a lot
of time from daily routine. Today, I was thinking that if I could cut back on that and give more time on
writing blog entries then surely I can improve my bloggong career both in terms of quality and quantity. I
can give more time for doing research on my blog entries and I can also write more entries on my blogs.
The best solution to this problem is to keep on typing and trying to make typing a habit. I mean that it is
better to set targets daily that I would just type for certain number of hours. Yes, it is reality that at first the
writings will not be that bad but at the same time it is important to remember that if I want to improve my
blogging career then I have to bring iron discipline inside me. So, this blog is a great place to carry out my
tests. I would try to write about various things that I know and post in this blog. Especially, when I cam free
that time instead of browsing Internet or checking sitemeter, I would try to post new entries. Fortunately, I
have good typing speed and I can type a lot.

80. The Love of Writing: Blogging

Yes, I love to read and write. I spend all my hours with information and when I write something then I get
happy. In the past, writing was my hobby and passion. I always wanted to be a writer but getting published
was a very serious issue. However, after blogging came then it was no longer an obstacle. I would not say
that I was a bad writer. In fact, before entering into full time professional blogging, I published more than
articles and features in various newspapers and magazines. I also have some experience of working with
radio and television.
The main obstacle for me in writing was that I could not write the things I loved. I had to write about the
things that there was any demand. Secondly, I had to depend on the editors. Often, I got a lot of satisfaction
from writing a piece and then the editor did not like it or change it in a way that I lost all enjoyment. It
happened more than one times or even 10 times. So, naturally, I did not enjoy the field of freelance writing
and freelance journalism.
On the other hand, I love blogging. Blogging has given me the freedom. Of course, I have to keep in mind of
Google and SEO but most of the time, I try to write naturally and I enjoy. So, when I earn my daily breads
by doing the thing I always dreamt of, I feel very happy at the end of every day.
Of course, blogging is full of stress and pressure for me. It is not a 9-5 job but it is more of a 11-3 job
(11AM-3AM). For the last three months, I had to be busy on some personal matters and I could blog that
much. Now, again I am back to full time blogging and I am happy to be back again. Sometimes, the pressure
is too much as I have to fight with many bloggers in my field. I have to think of writing in a way that it
would be appreciated by the readers and by Google. Well, it is not so hard when your blog becomes one year
old. I have seen with my professional blog SouthAsiaBiz that now if I cover any topic in details related to
the scope of the blog then it gets impressive Google ranking within 3-4 days.
I can give you the example of World Cup Cricket 2007. Just do a Google search with it and you will find
that SouthAsiaBiz has got better ranking than many sporting websites.
This is the best thing in blogging. Here, you can have quick results if you are ready to work hard.

81. Bangla Literature: Banalata Sen

Banalata Sen is perhaps one of the top most popular poems in Bangla/Bengali literature. If you do a Google
search of this keyword then you will see that this blog is features in the first page.
Jibanananda Das and his Banalata Sen
This article was written by Biplob Kishore Deb and he wrote it nearly 1 year ago. You can read the article
and know more about Banalata Sen. What I like about the poem is that Jibanananda Das has made a nice
combination of urban life, natural beauty and love of woman. That is why, I love this poem and it has the
musical quality that very few Bengali poems have. Many of us love to recite it when we are alone or when
we are with others.
Jibanananda Das was extremely a talented person but he did not care about earthly matters. Actually, those
days, there were not too many sources of earning money. Jibanananda Das dedicated his life for writing
poetry and he was very successful. He successfully created a place for himself in Bangla literature. No poet
in Bangla literature could write about nature like him. He is indeed the Wordsworth of Bangla literature.

82. Blogging: Your Chair Matters Most

I am a big admirer of Steve Pavlina. I visit his website regularly and feel inspired and often wish with all my
heart that I could be like him. Recently, I read his article:
10 Business Lessons From a Snarky Entrepreneur
There is no doubt that Steve is a very successful entrepreneur. However, what I admire him most is that he
built everything himself. He is a real self made man and he should be perhaps the best role model for not so
successful persons like me. I am quoting his second advice:

Buy the best chair you can find. You‟ll probably use your chair more than any other piece of business equipment,
including your computer, so don‟t settle for a crappy one. Consider a chair with padded arms and a high back (to
the top of your head) for maximum comfort. The most expensive chairs aren‟t necessarily ideal for you, so you
must test your way to comfort nirvana.
Yes, as each day passes by, I realize the value of this advice. My chair is not a good bad one but not so
comfortable either. And in the past, I used even worse chairs. I never understood the value of having good
chairs until recently. Because of full time blogging, I have to sit infront of my PC for 10-12 hours a day and
I often wish that I had a better chair. I bought this chair hurriedly and now I am paying the price. So, do not
make the same mistake like me if you are a blogger. Just think that buying a chair is an important investment
for your blogging success. After making this mistake, I have learnt my lesson and do not make the same
mistake like me.

83. Blogging: Diversion tactics to Face Blogger’s Burnout

Last night, I wrote about getting some relaxation from the pressure of professional blogging. In fact, last
night, it was a good tactics and I enjoyed it much. Within just a few hours, I wrote 16 entries as a diversion
tactics and I enjoyed it a lot. I realized that instead of getting blogger‟s burn out the best way to relax is to
write about off topics. Today, I am in good shape mentally and I do not feel any tiredness or exhaustion.
Instead, I am working whole night and writing some nice entries.
Today, I was very busy and I was out of home until 8 PM. Then I came home and started working from 11
PM. Yes, my body is tired now but my mind is fresh and by drinking a cup of coffee, I could overcome the
physical tiredness. So, now I am in good shape both physically and mentally.
In past, to get some freshness, I would take some time off form blogging and enjoyed movies, reading
books, browsing websites or just being totally out of home. That meant being out of blogging. I am happy
that I could find this diversion tactics of just writing anything I like and then posting it in this blog.

84. Blogging: Writing Against Deadline

In the media, deadline is a word that we all want to avoid. It is a tough thing to fight with. In blogging, the
deadline is even more intense- especially for professional bloggers. You often get the image that bloggers
can write about anything and in their own time. This is not true for most professional bloggers. Breaking
stories is very important in the world of professional blogging. However, just breaking a story is not enough.
You have to follow through it too.
Suppose, I can post something here now about a breaking story. Then, I will have to mail a number of other
bloggers in my field to catch their attention. I would also have submit the link in social bookmarking sites.
Then, pray to God that others take note of my blog entry. Of course, if you are an established blogger then it
is not so much tough but if you are a newbie blogger then it is a very tough ask. I know it from my own
experience.
By the way, most blogs are not recognized as news source by Google News yet. So, you have to wait nearly
24 hours to your blog entry to appear in Google search.

85. Blogging: How to focus and not Get Distracted?

Now, there are many professional bloggers and some of them are very successful. I feel that my biggest
challenge is that I need to overcome all the distractions and give my total attention to blogging. I have
written about this matter earlier in this blog too. I feel that I have a number of things that I get distracted. Let
me name some of them:

1. Television
2. Browsing Internet
3. Reading Newspapers
4. Going out of home

These are the four basic distractions I have. I know that they are not bad. Watching TV is not a bad thing.
Browsing Internet is of course a very good thing. Reading newspapers help to remain updated about my
country. I have to go out of home sometimes to do shopping or see others. This is something we all have to
do. Well, the problem is that often I cannot find enough time for blogging. For example, today, I slept until
noon and then at the evening, I felt so tired and slept again. In the afternoon I watched TV and at night I read
newspapers and browsed Internet. So, I could hardly work today and it is now 3 AM. So, if I work now then
tomorrow again I will feel sleepy.
I know that what I am doing is good as watching TV, reading newspapers and books and browsing Internet-
all these works are making me a more knowledgeable person. It is valuable since blogging is based on
knowledge. If you do not know then how you can blog. However, blogging is also something more. You
have to write daily and write a lot. You have to write comments in other blogs. You should read some about
blogging and SEO. Really, you should think of your blogs a lot throughout the day- everyday. Yes, it is a
reality.
What I am doing is great but I guess that it is time I totally focus on blogging. If I could do it for the last one
year then I could become very successful in blogging. After, I get a decent amount of success then I can
surely again go back to reading newspapers, watching TV browsing other websites.
My problem is that by nature I am an encyclopedic person. I love to know about different topics and about
different countries. Although I write about South Asia only, I love to know about the world. I know it is a
great quality and very few people have such passion about the world like me but at the same time I have to
focus on blogging at this moment. I can always come back to knowing the world but this the time I have to
build a good profile for myself in the blogosphere.
If you are a newbie blogger and you have the same problem like me then I would strongly recommend you
that you must take the problem very seriously. It‟s not that I am a lazy person. I am indeed a very
hardworking person with a lot of passion behind my work but I have spread myself too thin over many
things in my career. I should only focus on my blogs and I just started this.
Hopefully, I would be able to continue my effort of focusing only on blogging for the next one year.
By the way, I wrote nearly 550 words in this entry withon just 15 minutes.

86. Blogging: Typing against Time

One of my favorite past time is to type against time. I mean that in order to increase my typing speed, often I
type in PC about any topic and count the minutes. For example, sometimes, I write about a topic for 20
minutes and I write whatever I like and then after 20 minutes I try to find out how many words could I type.
It has a good blessing. It not only increase my typing speed but also increases my thinking speed. Because of
this matter, I can think faster than before. Well, it is not so easy and when I started it nearly 2 years ago, I
could just type 10 words per minute or sometimes just 8 words. Now, it has increased significantly. I can
type more than 30 words per minute in this way. Of course, my typing speed is over 60 words per minute
but it happens when I type something not write. Writing is a different matter and of course blogging is
different too. In blogging, while I type I have to be very careful if I am making any mistake. I have to also
think and try to write a sentence in a beautiful. Grammatical correction is not enough. I have to focus on
making the language simple but beautiful. I have to think of the topic and think of reaction of the readers.
However, I am happy that my speed has increased a lot in 2 years of continuous trying. I feel that typing
speed is vital for success in blogging. If you cannot type fast then you cannot write enough in your blog and
that is not a good thing. I really wish that every blogger and every writer take this matter seriously.
I have seen many people in my society who want to be a writer but does not want to give importance to
typing speed. Of course, here, many people still write with pen and paper but I have totally stopped writing
on a paper. I just use computer and it is surely a great blessing. I can correct anyway I like and I can also
save documents. My hand writing is terrible and that is why many times, others have problems about
reading my writings. So, I am very happy that others do not have any problem about reading my typing.
Blogging is gradually becoming typing against time. Look at the top blogs. They post so many entries and
cover amny things in their field. That is why many people read those blogs. So, the bloggers covering these
blogs have to type fast. Otherwise, they would not be able to cove so many entries every day.
So, if you are a new blogger, I would recommend you that you spend sometime everyday and try to improve
your typing speed.

87. Blogging: How many Entries Per Day?

This is a question I often come across in different blogs and forums. Some bloggers say that you have post
frequently while others feel that you should not post a lot. Now, let us see the arguments of these two sides.
Those who feel that you post a lot of entries everyday argue that this is the best way of catching the attention
of Google. I agree with this view. The more entries mean you have more pages for Google to index. It also
helps you to cover more news items about a particular thing in your blog. For example, now World Cup
Cricket is rocking many countries on earth. I am trying to cover it in my professional blog. I am trying to
post as many entries possible everyday and it is really paying off. I have witnessed 3 times increase in the
pageviews of the blog in just 30 days.
On the other hand, those who want to post less entries in their blogs argue that posting a lot of entries will
only destroy your blog‟s quality. I hate to admit it but I agree with this idea. It is a reality that everyday if
you give 4 hours for blogging and if you write just one entry in these four hours instead of writing 4 entries
in 4 hours then the quality of your blog will improve. Yes, it is true and good for the ideal world but our
world is not ideal. Of course, if you are an outstanding writer then you will surely get your readers sooner or
later but for the average bloggers it wont work well.
So, my verdict is for posting as many entries as possible everyday. However, I am not asking you destroy
your quality in writing. I am just asking to make a balance so that you have some quality but at the same
time you can post more frequently. I know that it will take time for your to understand and find out the right
balance. So, do not be impatient and keep blogging.

88. Some advice for young people of 20-25

For the last three years, I have been active in Facebook and have talked to many young persons through
Facebook, Skype, mobile phone or even in real life. Based on observation and experience, I am giving some
advice here:
1. Try to have a reading habit. Reading is a very powerful tool for any educated person. Read anything that
you can find- book, websites, newspapers and even Facebook posts.
2. Always try to enjoy your work. If you feel bored about something then you can never shine in it.
3. There is nothing wrong in trying to improve your condition. Even, be some selfish and look after your
own benefit. However, do not hurt or harm others with your deeds. As a result, many people will like you.
4. Do not be afraid to dream. Believe in your dreams strongly. Do not expect others to praise you about it.
Do not give up and try your best. Sooner or later, success will come.
5. Try to lead an honest life. It is true that in our society many people will consider you as weak or stupid
but believe in your heart. Honesty will bring satisfaction and happiness in life.
6. Spend at least 10 minutes of time in doing something good for others or for the society. It will bring real
happiness. Even if you like to take selfie and show off still help others.
7, Do not bother about the persons who create problem for you. Do not try to take revenge or fight back. Just
focus on your own development and you will outgrow and outshine them sooner or later.
89. Dhaka: My Dhaka
I was born and brought up in Dhaka. I am a person who has been most of the time confined to this densely
popular city. I know that the rest of the country is very beautiful. I visited Chittagong thrice and I was
amazed with its beauty. Sylhet is beautiful, Khulana too, Commilla is a small but peaceful town, Barishal of
Jibananda or Michael‟s Jessore, Tagore‟s Shahjadpur, Atish Dipankr‟s Bikrompur or even Narayanganj are
beautiful, beautiful and comfortable.
I lived in a rented apartment in Jigatal for 12 years but never talked to the next door neighbor. This is a
common story for many of usi living in Dhaka. Yes, life is often like a machine for us. I know that Dhaka is
the most densely populated place on earth. It is small, full of jam and environment pollution with any kind
of bonding among human beings.
Still, I love Dhaka. This bonding has happened perhaps because I have spent my life here. It is a part of my
root and I love it. I have suffered a lot in my life with full of ups and downs. The history of Dhaka is just
like that for the last 400 years. Thus, I feel a close bond with this city.
I am a proud citizen of this city. I dream that someday I will be able to do something outstanding and my
name will be a part of the history of Dhaka.

90. Is money Important for a Writer?

This is a question that perhaps goes in the mind of any person who wants to be a writer? In the past, I used
to think this question is only for people like me living in third world countries like Bangladesh. Here,
earning money through writing is very difficult. First of all, the payment by most newspapers and magazines
is inadequate and irregular. May be there is an exception or two but exception is not rule. Now, I know that
the same kind of uncertainty exists in USA too. Still, there is no shortage of people like me who are dying to
become a writer. I wonder why do we care to become writers when we know that it is a field with financial
uncertainty?
On the other hand, in our daily life, we need money for everything. No matter how much we try, we cannot
escape this reality unless you come from a very rich family. So, money is very important for everyone
including a writer. I think that the problem is many people tend to think that writing and money are two
different things. I do not agree with them. My idea is that you have to make adjustments in your life in every
job. You have to try to earn money by using your skill. The same way, in writing, you cannot always write
what you like or want. For example, if I could I would just write short stories every day. However, until
now, I could write only 4-5 short stories in the last one decade. Instead, I had to most of the time write for
newspapers on business and computer related topics and then for the last 3 and half years, I have been
blogging full time on different topics.
This is my literature blog but I hardly can update it because it does not bring money. In fact, earning money
through a literature blog is extremely difficult. So, I have to make some adjustments. Well, what I have is
the dream that may be someday, I can give a lot of time for this blog.
For the last few days, I have got an idea to publish a serial novel in this blog. The basic idea is that once a
week, I would update some parts of a novel. This way, I do not need to give a lot of time but the readers can
have something. Anyway, this is possible when I have some regular readers. Hopefully, it will happen soon.

91. If you want to be a Successful Writer then be prepared to Struggle

I know it from my own experience and after reading the lives of many great writers. Do you know Charles
Dickens? He suffered a lot in life- especially in early life. It was not his fault that he was born in a poor
family. In fact, he had very small scope to study. He had to earn money from a very early age. Dickens tried
his best to learn from life. Yes, he learnt a lot from his experience in London. So, he could write about the
people with uncanny ability and very few writers can match with him in this regard. Of course, Shakespeare
can match with him and then, William Shakespeare was a poet and dramatist who struggled a lot in his own
life too. He came to London and tried his luck in drama and it was not that easy at first.
This is the thing you must remember if you want to be a wrier. Of course, if you come from a well off
family then you are lucky. However, in that case, you have to struggle in another way- you have to work
hard. You have to dedicate a lot for writing. Perhaps this is reason that many rich people do not become
successful in this field. Either way, you have to try a lot. For example, I am writing something here. If I and
some of my friends and relatives read it then it has no value. I have to reach to a wider audience and it does
not come easily.

92. Freelance Writing: How to Survive the First Few Years?

When you decide to become a freelance writer then you decide to embrace all kind of financial uncertainty
and insecurities in life. At first, it is very difficult to earn money because it is not easy to get projects. Well,
if you are living in third world country like me then you are even in worse situation. So, how to pass the first
years? It is not a wise thing to do your current job until you get some writing opportunities that would bring
some money. You have to develop some relationships with some magazines or publishing houses. It is not
easy at all.
That is why, it is a good thing that you do not leave everything and become a writer until you find a source
that can generate some revenue for you through your writing. This is a big dilemma because then you cannot
give time for your writing. If you work in a job until evening then how you can focus on your writing in a
tired body. In fact, I have no easy answer to this question except saying that you have to work hard and
survive. There is no easy solution.

93. If you are a Writer Then Don’t Neglect Writing

In my life, I have seen some people who think that if they become a writer then they must spend more time
on smoking cigarette and drinking tea or coffee rather than on the writing process itself. I do not agree with
them. Well, I have perhaps similar kind of problem. I give more time to reading and browsing Internet than
the writing itself. This is the thing I have to overcome and change. Well, writing is a very lonely and boring
job. It needs some decent amount of effort and concentration. It is a very active work.
On the other hand, reading is much easier. It perhaps needs less attention and focus. We are more passive
when we read. I have learnt that the most important thing to do as a writer is to give more and more time for
writing. The best way to do is to set a daily target of writing a certain number of words. It may be just 500
words per day or it can be even 3,000+ words per day. It depends on your time and ability. You should set a
daily target and try to achieve it. Don‟t think of quality at first. The more you write the easier and better it
becomes for you to write better and faster.

94. A writer should Work 8 Hours or Even More

When you want to take writing as a profession, you may think at first that it has a lot of freedom. You get
free from 9-5 job. Yes, it is true but at the same time, you have to work more. The only good part is that you
can work anytime you like. You don‟t need to go to office and work 9-5. On the other hand, you can work in
your home. Sometimes, you have to go library for research. Thanks God that Internet has done this part
much easier. In the past, to check something, I had to go a library that has Encyclopedia Britanica other
reference books but now thanks to Internet, I can find any information any time.
Well, I have to say that Internet has given us best opportunity. Anyway, coming back to the original topic,
just remember that you have to work at least 8 hours or even more. Sometimes, I feel that I want to write but
it is difficult to sit so long time. However, then I have to find another field. Writing is a serious work. You
should not neglect it at all.
95. The importance of Translation of Bengali Literature in English Language
As I promised yesterday, I am going to write a series of entries aboutBangla literature. Well, I am going to
use the two words Bangla and Bengali indiscriminately because I believe that while writing in English the
name of the language should be Bengali instead of Bangla. Anyway, this is my opinion and you do not need
to agree with me. I studied in English Literature and English Language Teaching for my BA and MA
respectively. I wanted to study Bangla literature or journalism but in Bangladesh, studying English means
that you are safe in your career because money revolves around this foreign language. I wish it was just only
money but there is some kind of status symbol associated with this colonial language. Anyway, whether I
like it or not English is the dominant international language and Tagore got intentional recognition after his
works were translated in English. After or before Tagore, this kind of international recognition did not come
to any other poet or novelist in Bangla literature.
Secondly, Bangla is now one of the top 5 or 6 most widely spoken languages in the world. It also has a rich
literature. IN 20th century, it surely had the best literature in South Asia with Tagore and Nazrul. Tagore is
the national poet of India while Nazrul is of Bangaldesh. Still, in Internet, you cannot find the complete
works of Tagore and Nazrul in English. Thus, it is a matter of regret that we have something really valuable
but others don‟t know.

96. Why Writing is So Difficult?

I love to write and I try to write a lot. In fact, I have written over 3000 entries for my blogs in the last two
years. Thus, on an average, I have written nearly 5 entries everyday. I know that there are many bloggers
who write 10/15/20 or even more entries each day and some of them are really successful. Well, I feel that I
should read a lot first and thus I have been reading a lot for the last two years. I have been writing
continuously since 1997 and it is almost 11 years now. I have written for newspapers, magazines, TV and
radio, Internet. I have also done a lot of ghost writing. Still, I feel that writing it not that easy.
Of course, typing is very easy but writing is difficult. One reason may be that I mainly write in English
language (second language). My mother tongue is Bangla but my working language is English and for the
last 2 years, I had hardly written anything in Bengali. This is perhaps a big tragedy for many writers living in
the third world countries. One of the problems that I often face while writing in English is that I find it
extremely difficult to find a particular word or phrase at the right time. This struggle often takes the away
the energy and interest and I have to try a lot to find my rhythm. Of course, if I do not care for quality then it
is not a big problem but I try to maintain a minimum standard. At least, I like to believe that I do so.
I recently attended a fair in my city. There, I saw many companies showcasing their products. One thing I
liked about the companies and it was that they were focused with their work. I guess that writers often
distracted in life. Of course, writing is different from other works. You want to write something but you are
not satisfied. You have thought a lot of and believed that you can write a masterpiece but then when you sit
to writing then you lose your track. I guess that this matter happens to almost every writer. When I was
younger, these things caused a lot of unease for me. Now, I have learnt to deal with this.
For pursuing the career of writing, I had struggled a lot in my life. In my darkest period, I got a lot of
inspiration from the writing of Alex Haley. I am quoting from him:
Many a young person tells me he wants to be a writer. I always encourage such people, but I also explain
that there‟s a big difference between being a writer and writing. In most cases these individuals are dreaming
of wealth and fame, not the long hours alone at the typewriter. You‟ve got to want to write, I say to them,
not want to be a writer.
The reality is that writing is a lonely, private and poor- paying affair. For every writer kissed by fortune,
there are thousands more whose longing is never requited. Even those who succeed often know long periods
of neglect and poverty. I did.

I am lucky that I was never a luxurious person in my life. I guess that this is the most difficult part of
writing. It is not easy to sacrifice all the comfort of life and embrace tension.
In the end, writing is difficult because life is difficult.

98. Jashimuddin: Does he Matter Today?

„PalliKabi‟ (Rural poet)– this is how Jashimuddin is known to most of the readers of Bengali literature. He
dedicated his entire life writing about the rural life of Bengal. This way, he has made a strong place in
Bengali literature and he is considered to be one of major poets.
Bangladesh is a country of villages. We have heard the slogan that if 68,000 survive then Bangladesh will
survive. Well, many of the villages have not survived anymore. They have turned into modern wastelands
with people destroying nature and making unplanned constructions. Development is surely good but
unplanned development is a trap for unhappiness. So, few people care for the life that Jashimuddin depicted
in his poems. In many villages now such a life only exists in the memory of old generation. Yes, Bangladesh
is changing very fast. So, is Jashimuddin still relevant today in our life? I do not think so. The other day, I
was talking about a poem of Jashimuddin to one of my former students. He is a urban boy and he could not
understand any significance of the poem.
It‟s not that Jashimuddin wrote his poems in difficult language. Rather it is the other way around. He used
very simple language and simple thoughts. Simplicity was most powerful poetic weapon that he could use
very successfully.

99. Earn Money Online: Spam Online

Really, it is a pity that we have so many spammers in Internet who are always trying to earn money at the
expense of common people. The spammers try every way possible to earn some money. Sometimes, they
use legitimate ways while often they use not so legitimate ways. Their only target is to earn money online.
So, they do not develop content and they just develop spam. They do not care if others read or not read their
spam. Rather, they just care to earn more money.
Here are just few ways that spammers try to earn money online:
1. Send spam mails containing nothing but advertisements of different products. Their goal is to spread
the message of a product to millions of people in Internet. Fortunately, most people have become
smart now but still some people will buy their products.
2. Sometimes, the spam mails contain adware or spywares and this way the
spammerscollect information about your surfing habit.
3. Phishing is a great example of illegal activity in Internet. They just do not stop. I often get emails
from phishers who pretend to be some big banks on which I do not have any account.
4. Spammers make many worthless blogs and then fill up with garbage content that has no value to
anyone. They do it to get ranked high in search engine results. It has become a big business.
Fortunately for us who try to develop real contents, search engines are fighting back and trying to
pinpoint spam contents.
5. Cyber thieves would send you emails that they are very rich and have millions of dollars in Nigeria
or another country and they want your help and transfer the money in your account and give you
25% of the money. This is a very dangerous game. If you get any email of this kind never ever go for
it.
6. Phony lottery companies send mail to you that you have won millions of dollars. The funny part is
that they even do not know your address and even your name but they have decided that you have
won the lottery. How it is possible unless they want to con you?

I really feel sad to see that the number of spammers is not decreasing in Internet. The worst part is that we
live in a world now where money is the only important thing. It does not matter how you earn the money as
long as you are earning it.
