Homework:

You will be divided in 12 groups. Each group should be made of 7 students. Each group
will prepare a short research report on one of the following topics:

1) Nutritional support: enteral and parenteral nutrition

2) Anemia
3) Heart diseases & hypertension
4) Diabetes
5) Cancer
6) Kidney diseases

The report will focus on exploring the role of nutrition in health promotion, critically
analyzing appropriate dietary interventions for the management of chronic disease,
recommendations to reduce risk, and/or the prevention of disease progression.

Correct report writing/form

✓ The report should be 10 pages. The reference list should be at the end.

✓ Only the first letter in a sentence should be capitalized.

✓ All headings should be the same size and numbered.

✓ Added figures should add value or additional information for the text. Otherwise,
it should not be added (See figure below).

✓ X
✓ Added figures/tables should be mentioned in the paragraph.

✓ All references should be added at the end of the document.

✓ Captions should be added to the figures and tables.

followed.

the (abbreviation).
• Example : Oral Nutritional Supplements (ONS) are liquids, semi-
solids or powders.

Correct scientific writing

✓ A scientific report is a formal text written in an impersonal way where you should
avoid personal or familiar language. So, you should not address the reader directly
like using “you”, “your”, “I”, “we”, “our”. The sentences should be written in
passive way.
• Example: the sentence “Do not cook oils on high heat” should be written
in the passive way ”Cooking oils on high heat should be avoided”.

✓ The sentences must be written with correct English and must be completed.

✓ The same idea should not be repeated in the same and different paragraphs.

✓ Adding valuable figures/charts/tables/graphs can be very useful and accentuate

the information in your report.

✓ The report must be written in a clear and simple English and not copy pasted
without checking the content.

✓ All the paragraphs about dietary recommendations/nutrition management of the

correspondent disease should be very well developed.
