PROMPT: In his book, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, Robert Fulghum

lists these simple lessons: 1) put things back where you found them, 2) play and work some

every day, and 3) hold hands and stick together. Do you agree or disagree that these lessons

apply to life today? Or is life too complicated for such simplicity? Take a position on the issue.

Support your response with reasons and examples.

I think that the lessons somewhat apply to life today. Life may be complicated, but sometimes

making your life as simple as those lessons can help. His first lesson is just common respect,

putting things back where you found them. We should all have common respect for each other,

that would make the world more peaceful and a better place. His second lesson is crucial. These

days, people often get too stressed and don’t take enough time for themselves. If people worked

some and played some every day, they could maintain balance instead of getting too stressed by

their daily life. His third lesson could be applied to all of humanity. If we all just “held hands” as

in getting along with each other, then the world would be a better place for everyone. These

lessons aren’t “too simple”, life is just sometimes too complicated.
