[ 2 ] TUBE HEAD THERMAL CHARACTERISTICS
A. Interval between each exposure
The temperature inside of the tube head rises, when an exposure is made. The value of the heat
generated is measured in Heat Unit (HU), which is the product of tube potential, tube current and
exposure time. Excessive heat will be accumulated inside of the tube head, if the x-ray is used
without a proper cool down interval between each exposure. The excessive heat may damage the
x-ray tube, high voltage generator or both.

B. Duty cycle
To avoid the accumulation of excess heat in an effort to prolong the tube head life, a cool down
interval of 60 seconds or more must be allowed between each 1 second exposure.

[ 1 ] SUPPORT REQUIREMENTS
A. Arm and head
(1) Wall mounting type (WK)
The wall and mounting hardware for arm mounting bracket must be sufficient to withstand a 45 kg
(100 pound) shear load and a 150 kg (330 pound) withdrawal force at each of three mounting bolts.
If wall does not have enough strength, use the wall mounting plate (option). This plate is designed
for mounting on two 2 x 4 wood studs with 406.5 mm (16 inches) centers. With this plate, wall and
mounting hardware must be sufficient to withstand a 45 kg (100 pound) shear load and a 75 kg (165
pound) withdrawal force at each of the four mounting bolts.
B. Control box
When mounting the model DX-073 control box, the wall and mounting hardware must be sufficient to
withstand a 10 kg (22 pound) shear load.

CAUTION: If the model DX-073 is to be mounted in a manner other than what is specified in
this manual or if the hardware to be used is other than what is supplied, the sup-
port capability of the wall and the strength of the hardware must be checked and
verified to be adequate.

[ 2 ] ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
A. Power supply
The model DX-073 x-ray system will operate on a power supply of rated line voltage ±10 % with a
three wire (hot, neutral, earth) circuit, separately connected to the central distribution panel with an
over current protection device. Use a flexible cable approved by CEE (13) 52 or 53 consists of 0.75
mm2 or 1 mm2 conductors. Diameter of the sheath of cable should be 6 ~ 7.5 mm diameter. Line
voltage regulation should be within the range of 2 ~ 5 % (for 100, 110, 120V type) or 0 ~ 3 % (for
220, 230, 240V type) at rated current.

B. Concealed wiring (FIGURE 1)

Concealed wiring is accomplished by bringing conduit and wires in two flush mounted junction boxes
located behind the control box and behind the arm mounting bracket. Recommended heights for the
flush junction boxes are 1250 mm (50 inches) for behind control box and 1100 mm (44 inches) for be-
hind arm mounting bracket. Wiring done in this manner should extend 200 mm (8 inches) beyond the
wall surface to allow sufficient wire for connections.

[ 8 ] FILM SPEED CHECKING AND SETTING
The DX-073 Searcher 70 Dental X-Ray System is normally factory set to program #8 to suit D speed
film (equivalent to Kodak Ultra-Speed Film).
When the main power switch is turned ON program #8 is automatically selected as the primary program.
A secondary film density program is also usually set into the memory. To select the secondary program,
press both tooth selection switches T4 and T5 at the same time for 1 second. The tooth selection lamp
will flash indicating the secondary program is now selected.
Usually the secondary program will be factory set to #3 which is suitable for F/E speed film (equivalent
to Kodak InSight film).
To turn OFF the secondary program and return to the primary program simply press T4 and T5 at the
same time for 1 second or turn OFF the main power switch.
To verify which primary program has been set press T4 while turning on the main switch, compare the
sequence of illuminated tooth lamps to the film speed lamp chart to find the selected program. (ie, pro-
gram #8 has T1 lit only). If no program change is required simply turn the main switch OFF and back
on, the system is ready to use.
To set new primary program into memory select the required T1 to T4 switches by the film speed &
lamp chart and as they are pressed this will turn on or off each lamp to select a desired program. Touch
the patient type switch to set the program into memory. Turn the main switch OFF and back on again,
the system is now ready to use.
To verify and set the secondary program use the same procedures but press T5 while turning ON the
main switch, the lamps will flash while illuminated indicating you are in the secondary program.

NOTE : The lamps of the patient type switch will flash alternately when the control is put in the
verify/set mode.
