By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
LEARNING OBJECTIVES 1) practice listening for the main ideas of a phone conversation
2) identify and explain the situation in the phone conversation

ELEMENTS
1. Exhibit a laptop in front of the class and ask pupils do they have laptops
in their home.
2. Pupils answers teachers’ questions.
PRE-LESSON 3. Teacher poses question “Do you know more about computers than
your parents?”.
4. Pupils will response by raising their left hand (self) or right hand
(parents).
DEVELOPMENT 1. Get pupils into groups of 3, with one more able pupil as the monitor
each group.
2. Distribute a list of vocabulary worksheet to each group.
3. Pupils need to mix and match the vocabulary with their correct
meaning, while the monitors provide support for them.
4. Teacher will show the answers through slideshow.
5. Pupils will listen to the recording for the first time to familiarize with the
words.
6. Teacher will emphasize that pupils will listen for the second time to
identify the main idea of the conversation - Wayne’s Dad’s problem
and if they solve the problem in the end.
7. Pupils will respond to teacher’s question by discussing with their group
members.
8. Pupils will try to answer Section C - True or False worksheet to check
their understanding (individually) of the main ideas in the conversation.
9. Fast finishers will be given an extra question: “If you are Wayne, how
would you solve your father’s problem?”
1. Pupils will exchange their worksheet between groups.
2. Pupils will listen and check their answer for Section C.
POST LESSON
3. Teacher selects one or two fast finishers to share their opinion on the
extra question given to them.
