Hello Parents! Happy 2020!

As we come into the new year and semester, we want to continue to keep
you updated on what your daughters will be doing this quarter. After
settling in from Christmas break, we presented and walked through the
scheduling process for all students. They will have all recieved scheduling
contracts, and will be meeting individually with their counselors to put
togeter their 2020-2021 schedules. All courses should be put into plus
portals by the end of February. Remember, our goal is to ensure your
daughter creates an academically rigorous schedule, yet one that is
balanced and allows her to explore electives that she finds fascinating and
extra-curricular activities she finds rewarding. If you have any questions,
please refer to the Online Curriculum Guide. Thank you! We can't believe
we are already planning for next year, and look forward to finishing up the
last half of this year strong!
UPCOMING EVENTS:

Coffee with the Counselors will be held on

ANXIETY IN TEENAGE GIRLS:

STRENGTHEN RESILIENCE

Anxiety is a growing epidemic across the country among

our teenagers. As parents, it is important to know the
signs and how to best support your daughters. Has your
daughter ever had a meltdown that may seem like the end
of the world? Chances are your're not alone, and this is
very common. Although it may cause immense worry as a
parent, staying knowledgable about your daughters stress
and anxiety will help her at school and at home. The
link attached provides more information.
STAYING MINFUL AT HOME

The counseling center at McAuley would like to

remind parents that with the rise of social media it's
more important than ever to actively connect with
your family. The attached article gives some useful
suggestions that will help foster that connection and
strengthen your family bonds.

THE COLLEGE DECISION: PARENT SUPPORT

Decision day is quickly approaching on May 1, and we know choosing a college

is a stressful process for both your daughters and you. There are many things
you can do to support them during this process. For example, being available
to her for any questions or concerns, helping fill out FASFA and compare
financial aid offers, discussing location and campus services, etc.
Once your daughter has been excepted into
schools, she may seek support to help her make a
pros and cons list or may want to revisit the school;
however, it is important for this decison to be her
own! We have attached an article to discuss this
type of support more thoroughly.
