PROCEDURE FOR SETTING

CONSTANT OPTICAL PATH LENGTH CONTROL FOR LMX VII

1. Objective
The constant optical path length control system of the cutting head (Y-axis) and the
turn mirror (U-axis) has been changed from the existing belt drive to the motor
drive in the model LMX VII.
The optical path length is set upon shipment at manufacture’s factory, but when an
alarm “300 Y-axis (U-axis) original point return request” occurs and the U-axis goes
off the rack, removing the cable of the Y-axis (U-axis) makes the path length
deviated, which needs resetting of the path length. The following shows the
procedure for setting the constant optical path length control function.
2. Setting procedure of the constant optical path length control function:
2.1. Difference from the model LMR
The following shows the difference between LMX VII and LMR.
Difference LMX VII LMR
Keep relay (Constant control OFF) K15.1 K15.0
U-axis jog feed switch position As shown in Fig.1 Above or beneath
[-Y] switch
Turn mirror interval About 400mm About 300mm

2.2. Initialization of parameters

1) Set the parameter of No.15704
(U-axis coordinate offset value) to [0].
2) Set the parameter 1515#4 of Y- and
トーチ旋回
U-axis to [0]. ロック 解除
+U メンテナンス
3) Set the parameter No.1012#0 C
(prohibiting resetting of the dog-less -U メンテナンス

reference point) to [0].
4) Set the keep relay K15.1 (Constant path
length control function OFF) to [1].
Setting this bit to [1] turns the switch Fig.1
on the operation panel shown in Fig.1
to jog feed switch of the U-axis.
5) Turn OFF/ON the NC power supply.
6) Confirm that an alarm “300 Y-axis (U-axis) original point return request”
occurs.
2.3. U-axis original point return
1) Travel the U-axis to the + direction, and then to the – direction. Pay
attention to positional relation with the Y-axis not to elongate too much the
bellows.

2) Set the operation mode to [ORG RETURN] and press the [-U] switch.
3) Press the [RESET] switch after completion of original point return to
confirm that the alarm “300 Y-axis (U-axis) original point return request”
disappears. In case upon execution of item 5) above, an alarm “090 original
point return impossible” occurs, turn OFF/ON the power once, and then
execute item 3) again and after.
2.4. Y-axis original point return
1) Check and confirm the position relation of the Y- and U-axis. Travel the
Y-axis to the original position to confirm no interference occurs with the
U-axis. If interference occurs, travel the U-axis to the –direction. At this
time confirm also the Y-axis pushes the original point limit switch.
2) Travel the Y-axis in the + direction by about 1000mm.
3) Turn the operation mode to [ORG RETURN], and press the [-Y] switch.
4) After completion of original point return, press the [RESET] switch to
confirm that the alarm “300 Y-axis (U-axis) original point return request”
disappears.
2.5. Setting the optical path length
1) Check and confirm that the Y-axis exists
380mm(LMXVII50,55=400mm)
at the original position. If it is out
of original position, make the original
point return.
2) Travel the U-axis so that the bellows
interval gets to 380mm referring to
Fig.2 “Turn mirror interval.” Record the
U-axis mechanical coordinate values
at this time.
3) Set the recorded mechanical coordinate
values into the parameter No.15704
(U-axis coordinate offset value).
The numerals to be set should be ± mm
with decimals rounded off.
4) Set the keep relay K15.1 (Constant path
length control function OFF) to [0].
At this time, an alarm [1000 U-AXIS
ALARM] occurs, which should be
ignored.
5) Switch the operation mode to [JOG FEED]. Fig.2
After 1-2 seconds from the switching,
the alarm [1000 U-AXIS ALARM] disappears. If not, make the
emergency switch VARID/RELEASED.
6) Press the [+Y] switch to confirm the U-axis interlocking.
7) Make the Y-axis return to the original point and confirm that no deviation
occurs in the bellows interval.
The above completes setting of the constant optical path length control.
