Well said!

An interjection is a word or expression that

occurs as an utterance on its own and
expresses a spontaneous feeling or reaction.
It is a diverse category, encompassing many
different parts of speech, such as
exclamations, curses, greetings, response
particles, hesitation markers and other
words.

In contrast to typical words and sentences,

the function of most interjections is related
to an expression of feeling, rather than
representing some idea or concept.
Generally, interjections can be classified
into three types of meaning:

1. Volitive interjections function as
imperative or directive expressions,
requesting or demanding something from
the addressee.

Example:

"Shh!" = "Be quiet!"

“Please?”

Now, can you give me your own example of

volitive interjection, yes Cijay?
Hey! Stop looking at the work of your
classmate.
Very good!
2. Emotive interjections are used to express

emotions, such as disgust fear, surprise, and

delight. They are typically unplanned
expressions or reactions.

Example:

“Ouch”

“Yuck”

Now, who can give me their own example

Yikes! What’s that thing?
of emotive interjection? Yes, Mercy?

Wonderful!

3. Cognitive interjections express feelings

which are more related to cognition, or
information known to the speaker of the
utterance.

Example:

“Bravo!”

“Yes!”
Great! You have accomplished all the works in
Can you give me your own example, Rica? our prelims.

Good job!
