GS-12 MECHANICAL PACKAGED EQUIPMENT PAGE 4 OF 21 1.0 14 1.2 13 2.0 24 22 23 24 SCOPE This specification covers, the electrical requirements for all electrical devices and/or electrical systems furnished as a component part of a unified package of equipment. i This specification is to be used with the detailed specifications or requisition and/or drawings for the particular package equipment involved. When conflicts arise between this | specification, other specifications and the referenced codes and standards, the disagreement shall be presented to the Company in writing for arbitration and settlement. In general, the provisions of the National Electrical Code shall prevail The omission from the specification of any components normally supplied as part of the equipment and/or services, shall be reviewed by Company or its representative for clarification. Otherwise, all items, which have not been specifically excluded, shall be considered a part of each detailed equipment specification. REFERENCE CODES AND STANDARDS Alll the electrical equipment and wiring furnished under this specification shall be designed, built, rated and tested in accordance with the latest applicable code and/or standard in effect at the time of purchase order award. NEC National Electrical Code (NFPA No.70) NEMA National Electrical Manufacturer's Association NEPA National Fire Protection Association \EEE Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers IES Illuminating Engineering Society APL American Petroleum Institute NETA National Electrical Testing Association UL Underwriters Laboratories | shall be the Vendor's and Manufacturer's responsibilty to be or to become knowledgeable of the applicable requirements of these standards and codes. Any changes or alterations to the equipment to make it meet the requirements of the standards and codes shall be at the ‘expense of the Vendor. Whenever equipment proposed by the Vendor cannot fully meet the requirements of this specification, such exceptions must be clearly stated in writing by the Vendor. No exceptions shall be allowed unless approved by the Company in writing. The Vendor shall state when tendering that his proposed equipment either complies without exception to the requirements of this Specification, or, that it complies subject to certain exceptions. The Vendor shall give a detailed description of any exceptions. UNOCAL® ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SPECIFICATION MECHANICAL PACKAGED EQUIPMENT 3.0 ELECTRICAL DESIGN AND OPERATING REQUIREMENTS 3.4 General 3.1.1. Allelectrical systems shall be completely compatible and shall provide satisfactory system operations as required by the detailed equipment specification. Relevant safety criteria in the design, manufacture and assembly of the equipment shail be taken into considerations 3.1.2 All equipment shall perform satisfactorily at the site conditions specified in the environmental data sheet — GS18, Site Conditions and Climate. 3.1.3. Vendor shall provide all engineering and drafting required to present a complete design package for approval. All drawings shall be checked for accuracy, completeness, and for conformance with applicable codes and standards specified above 3.1.4 The Vendor shall provide a block diagram, termination strip details and connection diagrams to show the extent of supply and details of the terminations required. 3.1.5 The terms “power” and “control” as used in this Specification are defined as operating at potentials greater than 50 Volts above ground. “Instrument” and “Instrumentation” are defined as measurement and control signals of 50 Volts or less. cuits 3.1.8 Any AC UPS and DC power supplies called for within the package shall comply with the standards specified on the data sheets 3.1.7 Where dissimilar metals are installed adjacent to one another the Vendor shall take adequate precautions to prevent electrolytic corrosion. Corrosion shall be prevented by the use of a non-metallic insulation material between the dissimilar metals. Where the Vendor proposes an alternative method, this shall be submitted to the Company for approval 3.1.8 Operating shaft assemblies of exposed equipment such as motor field control stations, breakers, etc, shall be made of corrosion resistant materials to prevent shafts from binding, 3.1.9 Allelectrical devices requiring external connections (except motor power leads), shall be wired to terminals in junction boxes located near the periphery of the packaged equipment. Terminal blocks shall be permanently identified for Company's external connections, and shall be fully rated for the Voltage and current involved ‘ 3.1.10 The Vendor shall furnish prefabricated wiring hamesses for field connections when packages or equipment are too large to be shipped assembled in one piece 3.1.11 All AC control systems shall be 120 Volt, 60 Hz, grounded on one leg and fused on the ungrounded leg. Control power required shall be derived as part of the package. Power supply Voltage to the package shall be as specified in the equipment data sheets. 3.1.12 A means of isolating electrical power shalll be provided to permit servicing of individual systems or control components. Where all power to a packaged unit is supplied by one SPECIFICATION (SPEC. All live parts or equipment subject to arcing shall be guarded by a grounded metal enclosure. Enclosure shall be NEMA rated for use in the service of the equipment as specified in the data sheets, including area classifications. Miscellaneous nuts, bolts, machine screws, washers, lock washers, etc., shall be 316 stainless steel. The final appearance of the completed installation shall conform to the electrical drawings ‘Any modifications made necessary by interference with other equipment will require written Company approval. All electrical equipment shall be installed in a neat, orderly and correct manner in accordance with the latest acceptable industry practices. All junction and terminal boxes shall be accessible to remove the covers with standard tools, for connection of wiring without disassembly of motors or other equipment on the skid, Alll electrical equipment, cables and conduit shall be securely anchored to the skid. All fasteners shall be tight. Reasonable clearance shall be left for adjustment, repair, and disassembly of all electrical devices on the skid without special tools. Grounding. Grounding within the package shall be the Vendor's responsibility. It shall comply with NEC requirements, All supply feeders, such as motor feeder, heater circuit, etc., furnished by Company shall include an equipment ground wire sized in accordance with NEC, Table 250-95. Provisions for terminating said equipment ground wire shall be furnished by the Vendor. ‘The cases of all instruments, relays and meters furnished by Vendor in a control panel shalt be grounded effectively to the panel frame. The panel frame shall be grotinded to the Packaged equipment skid, where applicable, with a grounding conductor of minimum size AWG #2. A suitable lug or terminal shall be bonded to the skid frame at two diagonally opposite comers. These lugs shall be used in connecting the skid to the platform stee! structure upon installation. The lugs shall be sized for AWG #2/0 bare copper wire. The frames or cases of all electrical devices, as well as vessels, tanks, and structural parts shall be bonded to the grounding points on the skid if they are not attached to the skid structure by means of fusion welding. SPECIFICATION SPEC. GS-12 UNOCAL@ ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR Revision 2 MECHANICAL PACKAGED EQUIPMENT PAGE 7 OF 21 3.2.6 All conduit, cable shields, and junction boxes are to be bonded to provide a continuous ground connection between respective items. Normally the connection will be provided by tightly-engaged conduit threads. However a bare-copper bonded grounding conductor is to be provided inside all flexible conduits. 3.2.7 Unless otherwise required by the Company, shields of cables for analog instruments will be ungrounded on package skids. Care shall be taken to avoid accidental contact with grounded parts. Shields shail be terminated and linked, in separate terminals adjacent to the signal terminals, at the instrument junction box. Shield grounding will be by Others at one point only, normally at the panel in the Control Room. 3.2.8 Grounding conductors shall be soft-drawn, stranded, copper wire with green color insulator. Conductors shall be protected from mechanical damage and rigidly supported on skids Grounding conductors shall be installed in conduit where they extend over one (1) foot above skid floor. 3.3. Hazardous Area Requirements 3.3.1. The determination of the area classification shall be in accordance with API-RP-500 and Article 500 of the National Electrical Code. 3.3.2 Electrical equipment shall be suitable for the hazardous area specified, 3.3.3. Electrical equipment shall have a surface temperature identification number of T3 (392°F) or better in accordance with Article 500 of the National Electrical Code. 3.3.4 The equipment for installation in classified and/or corrosive location shall be suitable for the hazard. classification of the area and to be resistant to the corrosive environment specified 3.4 Voltages 3.4.1 In general, nominal system Voltages shall be: . 4160 V, 3 Phase, 60 Hz. + 2300 V, 3 Phase, 60 Hz + 480 V, 3 Phase, 60 Hz. + 208Y/120 V,. 3 Phase, 4 Wire, 60 Hz. + 24Vde, ungrounded 3.4.2. The Company will supply power feeders with overcurrent or motor protection, as required, at the utilisation Voltages listed below. If Voltages other than those shown in Section 3.4 are required, transformers with proper protection or power supplies shall be supplied with the mechanical equipment. When transformers or power supplies are supplied, they shall meet the area classification requirements specified for the equipment. Nameplates All motors, control stations, motor control centers, starters, breakers, junction boxes, apparatus and devices used for operation of control circuits and appliances shall be properly identified with descriptive nameplates. Equipment mounted within rooms and enclosures shall have engraved laminated plastic nameplates, with black letters on white backgrounds and fastened to equipment with stainless steel pan-head screws. External labels shall be stainless steel fixed with two stainless bolts or screws. The means of attaching the labels shall not affect the equipment Ingress Protection (IP) rating or certification. In addition, control stations and similar equipment will also carry normal operating function labels i.e. ‘stop’, ‘start’, ‘on’, ‘off etc. Vendor shall use preferred equipment to provide commonality of equipment and to reduce the required spares holding. The Vendor shall use equipment nominated in the preferred equipment list and shown in Section 17 of this document. ENCLOSURES (JUNCTION BOXES AND CONTROL DEVICES) Enclosures for electrical equipment shall be suitable for the environment in which they will be located as stated in the specific equipment data sheet, SPECIFICATION SPEC. Indoor or outdoor corrosion resistant: NEMA 4X, as minimum. For installation in Hazardous (Classified) Areas such as NEC Class |, Division 1 or Division 2 areas, equipment containing arcing devices: NEMA 7, Explosion-Proof. Enclosures located outdoors shall be constructed of UV stabilised polycarbonate or GRP, copper free aluminium or stainless steel. Enclosures located indoors may be constructed of sheet steel, appropriately treated and painted Enclosures shalll have the manufacturer's standard finish, if painted. All hardware furnished with enclosures, i.e., hinges, handle assemblies, lock assemblies, latching assemblies, etc., shall be stainless steel The following services shall be segregated from each other by the use of separate junction boxes on package equipment: Power and power related control systems Instrument analog signals Instrument digital signals Emergency shutdown systems Fire and gas systems Solenoids shall be separated from digital inputs within junction boxes by the use of barrier strips. ‘Terminal boxes provided for Company connections shall be positioned for bottom cable entry unless otherwise specified All terminal boxes shall have spare terminals for future use, as a minimum, 20 terminals or 20% of total terminals on the skid, whichever number is greater. MOTORS General Motors are to incorporate materials, finishes, and workmanship to provide suitable service on an offshore platform and are to be provided tropicalised with anti-fungus treatment and marine-trim hardware. SPECIFICATION SPEC. GS-12 UNOCAL® ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR Revision > MECHANICAL PACKAGED EQUIPMENT —_fpacs 10 OF DI] 5.1.2 Vendor shall submit a completed copy of Company's Electric Motor Data Sheet for each 5.14 5.1.5 5.1.6 5.1.9 5.1.10 5.2 5.2.4 motor supplied. Because these data sheets will become a part of the platform's permanent records, failure to submit the completed data sheets will constitute grounds for withholding payment. The preferred electrical driver is a high efficiency three-phase, horizontal squirrel-cage induction motor. The motors shall be full-Voltage, across-the-line starting. Motor enclosures for service in non-hazardous or Class 1, Division 2 areas shall be TEFC or WP II. WP II ‘motors shall be equipped with space heaters and ring lubricated sleeve bearings. NEMA frame size motors shall be high-efficiency mill and chemical duty, with cast iron junction box and end bell, and with non-sparking fans, such as Reliance XE, or equal Motors shall be in accordance with the project Specification. Insulation class shall be Class F with temperature rise limited to 80°F as measured by winding resistance. All motors shall be rated for continuous duty unless noted. Service factor shall be 1.0 as minimum unless otherwise specified. Motors shall be UL listed or company approved equal. Motor housings shall have a combination breather/drain for the purpose of removing condensation from within the motor. All motor 1 HP and greater shall be equipped with space heaters operating on 115 volts, 1 phase, 60 hertz, and operating at surface temperatures suitable for Ciass-| Group-D locations. On motors 15 hp and larger the space heater leads are to be brought out to a ‘separate terminal box or the main terminal box is to be provided with a dedicated extra conduit entry. Motors 100 HP or larger shall have imbedded temperature switch (es) in the windings to be used for remote high-temperature alarm. The leads shall terminate in a junction box separate from the power leads. Switch must-be suitable for 115 Volts and 1 Ampere. Integral-horsepower motors are to be copper wound and of the severe-duty type. Motors shall have cast-iron frames. Aluminum and fabricated sheet-metal frames are not acceptable. Motors generally complying with IEEE P841-D3 "Standard for Chemical Industry NEMA Frame Motors 600 Volts and Below" will meet these requirements, ¢ Motor Voltages Motors less than 1 hp shall be 115 Volt, 60 Hertz, single-phase. Motors 1 hp to 200 hp shall be 460 Volts, 3-phase, 60 Hertz. Above 200 hp motors shall be 4000 or 4160 Volts, 3-phase, 60 Hertz, unless otherwise specified SPECIFICATION SPEC. GS-12 MECHANICAL PACKAGED EQUIPMENT PAGE 11 OF 21 UNOCAL® | ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR Revision 2 64 62 b) °) d e) 63 64 65 66 MOTOR CONTROLLERS Motor controllers for motors 4,000 Volt and above will be supplied by Company and will be combination current limiting fuse and air break or vacuum type contactor. Motor starters for 460 Volt motors are normally supplied by Others. However, if the motor starter is a part of the Vendor's standard package, it shall be supplied per the following description, as part of the packaged equipment The motor starter for 460 V motors shall be combination type consisting of a motor circuit protector, a magnetic contactor, and an ambient temperature compensated thermal-overload relay, with external manual reset, in each ungrounded conductor. Combination fused starters are not acceptable. Minimum size of combination starter shall be NEMA Size 1, and minimum short circuit rating shall be 25,000 Amperes, rms symmetrical, Each combination starter shall include a 480-120V control power transformer with primary and secondary fuses. Each motor combination starter shall be suitable for padlocking in the opén position. Enclosures of starters located in hazardous areas shall be copper-free aluminium. Spin-on covers are preferred over bolted-flanged covers. UV stabilised polycarbonate material or GRP enclosures are preferred in unclassified areas For single-phase motors rated below 1 hp, controllers shall be 250 Volt rated for application ‘on 120 Volt, single-phase, 60 Hz. Single-phase controllers may be either magnetic or manual, depending on system requirements. Where electrically operated controllers are used, motors shall be controlled by either: * "Start-Stop" field control stations located in sight of and near the motor * Automatic devices (such as a float switch). Motor contro! will normally be from the distributed control system (DCS) of from unit control panels as in the case of turbines, and large drives. Safety shutdowns shall be hard-wired to motor starters, Asselector switch shall be located in sight of and near each motor controlled by an automatic device. Switch shall have three positions: HAND - OFF - AUTO. SPECIFICATION SPEC. GS-12 UNOCAL® ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR Revision 2 MECHANICAL PACKAGED EQUIPMENT PAGE 12 OF 21 7.0 HEATING ELEMENTS 71 Heating elements for space heating or lube oil heaters, etc., shall be metal clad and shall be provided with enclosures to prevent exposure of live parts. 7.2 Heating elements to 1800 Watt rating shalll be rated for 120 Volt, single-phase operation. Heaters of 1801 to 3000 Watts shall be suitable for 208 Volt, single-phase service. All other heaters shall be suitable for 480 Volt, three-phase service. 7.3 Surface temperatures of heating equipment installed in Hazardous (Classified) Areas shall not exceed 80 percent of the lowest gas ignition temperature on any surface likely to be ‘exposed to the gas or vapour when continuously energised at the maximum rated ambient temperature. If a temperature controller is not provided, these conditions shall apply when the heater is operated at 120 percent of rated Voltage. 8.0 ELECTRICAL PANEL AND CONTROL DEVICES 84 Where a manufacturer's standard control panel is specified, the Vendor shall provide details, including heat dissipation and panel cooling method, at the time of tendering for approval by the Company. 82 Unless specified or agreed otherwise the local contro! panel for a packaged unit shall be built onto the skid base of the unit. The location shall be such that it will not be liable to impact damage. 8.3 Within a control panel, barrier strips shall be used to separate terminals for equipment of different voltage levels. All terminals shall be identified by engraved identification strips. Red nameplates with white letters, warning of the voltage, shall be used to identify terminals with potential above ground exceeding 50 Volts. 8.4 Separate wireways shall be used to separate AC systems from other systems. Terminals in the following services shall be segregated from each other by barrier strips within control panels or switchgear: * Power and power related control systems. : * Instrument analog signals * Instrument digital signals * Emergency shutdown systems + Fire and gas systems Solenoids shall be separated from digital inputs within panels by barrier strips. 8.5 A lamp test facility shall be provided on all multi- indicator panels. 86 Control and alarm circuits shall be fail-safe type, i.e., the device will be de-energised on loss of control power or open circuit SPECIFICATION SPEC. Gs-12 | UNOCAL® ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR Revision 2 MECHANICAL PACKAGED EQUIPMENT PAGE 13 OF 21 87 Electrical devices shall be selected on the basis that a Voltage dip to 85 percent of the nominal Voltage does not cause the equipment to operate abnormally. 88 Control relays shall be rated 30 VDC, minimum. Relay coils shall be 24 VDC, unless otherwise specified. Contacts shall be rated 300 Volts 10 Amps, or 24 VDC 5 Amps minimum. 89 In addition to contacts required by the system, relays shall have one spare convertible NOINC, or double throw, contact for Company's exclusive use. 8.10 Suitable circuit protection shall be supplied for controls so that any one electrical fault does. not affect more than one unit or system. The protection can be accomplished by either circuit breaker or fuse. 8.11 _ All fuses and routine service adjustments shall be readily accessible without removing the equipment from service. 8.12 Electrical equipment enclosures shall be arranged for cables entering from below. 8.13 Control and indicating equipment shall be mounted on the front of the enclosure or panel. 8.14 Contacts for use in control and instrument switches located outdoors shall be hermetically sealed, where available, to provide maximum protection against water ingress and corrosion. 8.15 Externally-visible, permanent nameplates shall be provided for each control panel (part of packaged system) to identify each instrument, switch, meter, relay, control switch, indicating light, circuit breaker, etc. Equipment and terminal blocks within the control panel shall be ‘suitably identified. 9.0 PUSHBUTTONS, SELECTOR SWITCHES AND CONTROL STATIONS 94 Control stations shall be of the momentary-contact push-button type or the maintained- contact hand-off-auto type to suit the application. UV stabilised polycarbonate or GRP enclosures, similar to Crouse-Hinds Krydon, are preferred in unclassified and Division 2 locations. Control stations in Division 1 locations must be of copper-free aluminium with factory-sealed contacts and watertight gaskets (NEMA 4X and 7). ‘ 9.2 Individual control buttons and hand control devices shall not be mounted in motor centroller covers. Hand operated control devices shall be mounted in separate enclosures or in control Panel covers. 10.0 PILOT DEVICES 10.1 Pilot devices shall be of heavy-duty industrial construction. MECHANICAL PACKAGED EQUIPMENT PAGE 14 OF 21 | 10.2 Switches activated by temperature, flow, pressure or other functions, including limit switches, 103 10.4 120 124 12.44 12.1.2 12.4.3 124.4 furnished by Vendor for control and alarm purposes, shall be rated at 120 Volts AC 10 ‘Amps, or 24 VDC 5 Amps minimum, except when other Voltage or capacity is specified. Bypass isolation (electrical isolation) switches shall be provided for all process shutdown ‘switches to allow calibration and service. Switch shall be Normal-Bypass-Isolate (NBI) type. ‘Switch enclosure shall be suitable for the area classification specified in the datasheet. Means of security shall be provided so that the activation of Bypass switches shall only be accessed by high security level. Alarm shall be activated during the Bypass switches are active. Solenoid coils furnished by Vendor shall be low power consumption type or electronic booster coils type, with the operating voltage of 24 Volts DC. INDICATING LIGHTS Indicating lights shall be of heavy duty oil tight construction and shalll be 24 Volt DC (prefer) ‘Transformer type rated 120 Volt AC, with 6 Volt secondary can be used where approved by Company. Pilot light colour shall be suitable for the service for which the light is required, Motor indicating light colour shall be as per the Single Line Diagrams. CONDUCTORS AND WIRING Conductors Wires and cables shall be flame retardant, low smoke, halogen free unless otherwise approved = Alll conductors used in low-Voltage power and control applications shall be stranded copper with insulation rated for 600 Volts. Insulation shall be XHHW. The location shall be assumed to be wet. Current-carrying capacities shall be de-rated for the maximum anticipated ambient temperature and grouping factor in accordance with the National Electrical Code. Wiring shall be collected and gathered wherever possible; however, control and power wiring shall not be intermixed. Interconnection between devices within the enclosure may be wired directly from device to device independently of terminal blocks. All wiring external to enclosures shall be terminated within the enclosure to terminal blocks with tubular screw and pressure plate terminals, sized to the current carrying requirements of the conductor. Splicing of power or control circuits is not permitted. Terminal blocks shall be rated for 600 Volts circuitry. For current transformers, terminal blocks shall be "shorting" type. All wiring shall be suitably sized for the service intended and each end of each conductor shall be permanently tagged in accordance with the elementary and wiring diagrams. Heat shrinkable type wire markers, printed with Hot-Marker or engrave method, shall be provided on all wires. Print ink to the shrinkable tube is not acceptable. Self-adhesive type tags shall not be used. SPECIFICATION SPEC. Minimum size shall be 3/4" trade diameter. Conduit shall be installed either parallel with or perpendicular to structural members and grouped wherever possible. Conduit shall be supported at spacings not to exceed 10 feet. All joints for rigid heavy wall conduit shall be made with standard conduit couplings, with the ends of the conduit cut square, reamed and joined butt-tight in the couplings. Running threads shall not be permitted. Double locknuts and bushing shall be installed at all indoor conduit terminations. Watertight conduit hub connectors shall be employed for conduit terminations located outdoors and in poor environment areas. Threaded joints shall be made up with at least N.E.C. minimum number of threads full engaged. Conduit fittings shall be Crouse-Hinds Form 8 with cast covers stainless steel screws and neoprene gaskets. Conduit sealing fitting shall be installed as required by the NEC based on area classification. Sealing fiting shall be Crouse-Hinds Type EYS or equal for horizontal conduits or type EYD or equal for vertical conduits with drain. Liquid-tight, flexible metallic conduit shall be employed at all moveable devices subject to. vibration, movement for belt or other adjustments, operational inspection and maintenance requirements. Flexible conduit length shall be limited to 18 inches. Explosion-proof flexible conduit shall be used if required in NEC Class |, Division 1 areas. Conduits for packaged equipment to be located in a Hazardous (Classified) Area shall comply with requirements of the NEC, Article 500. Separate conduit systems, cables and junction boxes shall be used for each of the following Power feeders to complete package power, 460 V motors, and 4000 V motors Controls, shutdowns, power to instruments and solenoids (generally 24 Volts DC) 120 Volt AC for Power and Control SPECIFICATION SPEC. The Company shall review the submittal to determine if exceptions are acceptable. Company may require full compliance with the specifications, 14.2 Vendor is required to clearly state all electrical que: specification requirements. NS related to the equipment 14.3 Upon award of an order, within the time and conditions specified in purchase order, Vendor shall supply the following information as applicable: a) Equipment outline drawings showing arrangement and dimensions of all electrical equipment. b) Schematic diagrams of all power and control equipment supplied. ¢) Interconnection diagrams showing external connections to the equipment supplied with all terminal blocks properly identified and shown in their true physical relationship within the equipment. d) Complete motor data, as requested on Induction Motor datasheet. e) Complete description, including electrical ratings of all devices. f) Nameplate schedule for electrical equipment and devices. g) Instruction manuals. h) A recommended spare parts list for parts required for one year operation i) Equipment weight, and overall dimensions. i) Certified copies of the test reports shall be submitted to the Company on the completion of testing. ‘SPECIFICATION SPEC. GS-12 UNOCAL® | ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR lRevision 2 MECHANICAL PACKAGED EQUIPMENT [PAGE 19 OF 21 15.0 15.4 15.2 15.3 184 15.5 156 15.7 PACKAGED UNIT ELECTRICAL TESTS Tests will generally be conducted in accordance with the requirements of the National Electrical Testing Association's Acceptance Testing Specifications for Electrical Power Distribution Equipment & Systems. The Vendor shall perform the electrical tests to assure correct operation. All testing shall be performed in complete accord with applicable standards, specific requisition requirements and to the item Vendor's instructions or recommendations. Company and/or its representative reserves the right to witness all packaged unit testing and requires the ‘Vendor to notify the Company in writing ten (10) days prior to testing. Insulation resistance and continuity tests shall be performed on all feeders, motor leads and control wiring. A test shall be performed between conductors and ground. Perform electrical insulation tests prior to connection of power. Insulation resistance tests shall be made using a megger of 1000 VDC maximum. Insulation resistance readings shall be recorded after applying the test Voltage for a period of 60 seconds. The minimum acceptable reading will be 10 megohms. Shielded analog-signal cable shall not be tested. Energise all equipment, run motors with couplings disconnected, verify direction of rotation, and perform operational tests by causing relays, solenoids, and other devices, to function by simulation of control action to test the integrity of the control circuits. The testing to be performed shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following: a) All circuits and equipment shall be tested for grounds, short circuits and proper functioning, b) Interlocking, control and instrumentation wiring for each item or system shall be tested to ascertain that the system functions as indicated on the wiring or schematic diagrams, description of operation, etc. Where necessary, manual operation of control devices, such as limit switches, shall be used to simulate actual operating conditions in the checking of the system For Vendor furnished motor starters, the current rating of all equipment including control fuses, circuit breakers, and thermal overload elements for motors shall be checked, adjusted and corrected, if necessary. Motors shall be tested for proper running and any misalignment shall be corrected. ‘SPECIFICATION SPEC. GS-12 UNOCAL® ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR lRevision 2 MECHANICAL PACKAGED EQUIPMENT [PAGE 20 OF 21] 16.0 SHIPPING REQUIREMENTS 16.1 All instruments and devices that could be damaged in shipment shall be removed, tagged and crated in waterproof boxes. The boxes shall protect devices and instruments sensitive to dynamic loads. A static desiccant shall be placed inside the waterproof wrapping. Vendor shall furnish detailed instructions for re-assembly of this equipment. A copy of these instructions shall be included inside the waterproof wrapping. All boxes of instruments and devices shall be securely attached to the skid for shipment. 16.2 All openings, flange faces, threaded connections, and cables exposed as a result of instrument and device removal shall be protected in a manner to prevent damage during shipment. 16.3 Company shall be the sole judge of the adequacy of preparation for shipment 17.0 DIVISION OF WORK The Vendor is expected to complete all electrical work within the confines of Vendor's package. Where the package does not have a rigid enclosure, everything that can be shipped in one piece shall be shipped pre-assembled and pre-wired. 17.1 Work by company 17.1.1 Electrical power supply feeder and grounding to the termination point of Vendor's equipment. 17.1.2 Wiring between the Vendor's equipment and those devices, which are furnished by others. 17.1.3 All outdoor lighting and 120 Volt AC. convenience outlets. 17.2. Work by Vendor . 17.2.1 Selection of electrical enclosures compatible with the equipment location indoor or outdoor, wiring method, exposed or concealed, specified area hazard classification and corrosive classification of the environment. ‘ 17.2.2 All necessary interconnecting wiring between package unit devices and terminal or junction boxes shall be installed by Vendor prior to shipment. 17.2.3 \dentified terminal blocks for the Company's wiring, "SPECIFICATION.
