Evidence: The new 7 wonders of the world

In 2007, the new 7 wonders of the world were announced after voters all around
the world selected their favourite exiting phenomena. The chosen landmarks
are: The Great Wall of China, Petra (Jordan), Christ the Redeemer (Brazil),
Machu Picchu (Peru), Chichen Itzá (Mexico), Colosseum (Italy), Taj Mahal
(India) and The Great Pyramid of Giza (Egypt).

For completing this evidence you need to do two parts. The first one is to look
for information about one of the 7 new wonders and also about the massive
campaign that was held globally to select them. In the second part, you need to
record a tape in which you relate the history of your selected wonder and also
explain how it ended up in the final list of 7. Take into account that for
completing this evidence you need to refer to the construction, history,
development and current status of your selected wonder. In addition, you need
to refer to most of the data you obtain by using the passive voice. Finally, bear
in mind that your recording must be at least two-minutes long.

SOLVED:

I choose Christ the Redeemer for three reason.

1. It was symbols of the great sporting events that were the 2016 Olympic Games, the
2014 World Cup and recently the 2019 American Cup.
2. It served as the image for great films such as Rio of Blue Sky company of 20 Century
Fox and fast five of Universal film and Original Film.
3. It is one of the places that I have always wanted to visit.
Christ the Redeemer is an Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, created by
Polish-French sculptor Paul Landowski and built by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, in
collaboration with French engineer Albert Caquot. Romanian sculptor Gheorghe Leonida
fashioned the face. Constructed between 1922 and the monument opened on October 12,
1931.
Christ the Redeemer were chosen from 21 candidates, which had been whittled down from 77
choices by a panel in 2006. And winners announced on 7 July 2007 in Lisbon, at Da Luz
Stadium.
The statue weighs 635 metric tons, and is located at the peak of the 700-metre Corcovado
mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park overlooking the city of Rio de Janeiro.
