2. What is a flowchart?
A flowchart illustrates the flow of information in the systems of the company. It shows
how source documents become part of a company's information through the data
bases. Also, in flowcharts, you can see how a single piece of information relates to a
particular department for example when there is a receipt of sales order it doesn’t only
affect the sales journal but also it updates the accounts receivable journal, the stock of
inventory and even in the warehouse and shipping department. Utilizing a flowchart lets
the user to monitor such information and to check when there are anomalies and errors
in the process. In this way, we can also strengthen the securities of information by
having a monitor of its flow in the business which is illustrated by the flowchart.
