Case Study 02: TU6294

World of Information Technology (IT) is enhancing with the widespread innovation
and Enterprise
Resource Planning (ERP) systems are one of them. At the user level, the debate regarding
the contribution
of ERP systems to performance still exists, because users utilize these systems and assess
the actual benefits
and its impact on them. Prior research mainly focuses on success and failure factors and
other technical
aspects, therefore, this assignment aims to shed light on the ERP systems literature
regarding its impact on
user performance by reviewing the relevant studies. The study will enable the researcher to
understand the
state of art about the role of users in terms of performance with the proposition that users
can evaluate the
benefits of these systems in the corporations where ERP structures are already administered
or in the stage
of implementation.

I. Introduction
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are business control structures, detailing a
collection
of universal software conceived to consolidate and control every trading tasks within a
corporation,
these collection entail implementations for financial and accounting, human resources,
project
management, sales and distribution, material control, supply chain management (SCM),
quality
control [1-3]. Similarly, the major objective of the ERP structure is the condensing of data
via the
consolidated database. ERP systems are Information System (IS) software modules that
share a
consolidated database with data being linked to them, which enclose capabilities for trading
and
retail, expansion and product outline, field service, inventory control, production,
dissemination,
control, and procurement industrial assets control, process design, quality, human
resource,
manufacturing, finance and accounting, and information services [4], [5]. Figure 1. Depicts
the
ERP planning.
ERP systems are designed with the quest to improve productivity by enhancing an
organization’s capability while generating highly accurate and timely information
across the
enterprise and all its supply chain. Effective ERP systems implementation can lead to
fewer
inventories, improve customer service, reduce product development cycle, increase
efficiency
(productivity), improve profitability, and enhance efficiency via improved customer
services [6].
Keeping in view the benefits and functionalities of these systems, business corporations
are
venturing in information systems to enhance performance [7], [8], and turning to ERP
structures
to handle the fluctuating surrounding and concur hindrances of legacy structures [9].
ERP
structures administration has resulted in enhanced execution [5]. These structures
resulted in
immeasurable advantages to firms for instance improved productivity, enhanced reach to
reliable
and timely information, tight control, knowledge sharing [10], [11], and automate
business
procedures through the coordination and integration of data across departments. Also,
these
advantages are direct indication; reason for big firms having great amount of information
are lured
to such structures Despite the enormous advantages associated with ERP systems,
organizations
tend to avoid it, due to the complex implementation process and higher failure rate. As
pointed out
by the study presented by [12].
The agenda of this assignment is to highlight the ERP systems literature regarding its
impact on user performance by mention the relevant studies. The study will enable the
researcher
to sense the state of art about the role of users in terms of performance with the preposition
that
users can evaluate the benefits of these systems in the corporations where ERP structures
are
previously administered or in the stage of implementation.

II. User Performance (UP)

Case Study 02: TU6294

The literature illustrates that many studies are undertaken for the identification of the vital
elements significant for ERP system implementation success in the post-implementation
phase are
focusing on individual case studies, industrial surveys, and covered other research issues.
Until
now, a few studies which focus on evaluating performance in the ERP system’s
implementation
phase [13]. A study presented by [14] had conducted a survey to investigate the ERP
research
stages and facets in the last few years. The research divide established literature in 3 stages:
the
first face is pre-implementation, while the second face is implementation and the last face is
post
implementation. By examining the data, the implementation has lesser attention that the
pre-
implementation and implementation phase.
Furthermore, in the post-implementation phase, the concerns in considerations with
great
attention are vital achievement/failure elements, factual advantages, Business process
reengineering, ERP preference standards, ERP significance, implementation strategy,
change
control, and form execution assessment at the organization level and user satisfaction with
minimal
concern. However, none of the studies focuses on user performance with ERP context, thus
making
this area worth exploring. Likewise, another literature survey based on the ERP lifecycle
was
presented by a study presented by [15], [16]. In the administration of the ERP structures,
the users
play an important role to evaluate the impact on these systems on their performance [5] and
the
degree of the system usage directly affects recognized the advantages of the implemented
system.
ERP users can impact the achievement or collapse of the ERP system and the main
question of the
ERP system’s value to them has been a key concern in many organizations [17], [18]. A
study
presented by [19] the authors have employed econometric analysis, to examine post-
implementation managerial execution of ERP structures and their relationship with
financial
accomplishment. The research had suggested a cause-and-effect framework to analyze
financial
accomplishment-related elements empirically for instance net sales, net income, earnings,
return
on assets and return on investment.
The results focused on the importance of efficient communication to improve trust between
employees leading to the exchange of information needed for ERP implementation
success.
Similarly, in organizational context [20], manages an empirical study to detect the ERP
adoption
success, their findings exhibited worthwhile relationships between the discernments of
ERP
achievement, and discerned organizational achievement, and enhanced business procedures.
III. Discussion &Conclusion
In follow up cases, few researchers concentrate on the ERP system achievement
assessment. Just
a few of the reported reviews considered the impact of ERP structures on the productivity
and
execution [13] In some cases, reviewing the literature on ERP implementation
regarding
performance shows that majority of prior studies evaluate the impact of ERP
structures on
performance at the organizational level rather than individual and the outcome variables
discussed
are product quality , benefits, competitive advantage, organizational service
enhancement,
financial performance, process efficiency, shareholder return , market value,
organizational
benefits. During years of work, some activities of adoption of new technologies in
organizations
are speeding up and in this regard, various firms have invested heavily in ERP systems not
only to
integrate all business activities into a uniform system but also to achieve
effectiveness and

efficiency in their operations. Consequently, for the last two decades, the significance of
ERP on
productivity and execution has been the subject of discussions to researchers and
practitioners. To
use ERP systems to its potential, individuals must understand the basic principles of ERP,
which
can lead to taking advantage of the capabilities from these systems in terms of efficiency
and
effectiveness with regard to users to be conclude, in the administration of the ERP
structures
performance of users play a vital role to evaluate its impact.
