You use there is or there are to say that something exists (or doesn’t exist)

There is: for singular nouns There are: for plural nouns
There is a bus stop in front of the university. There are seven branches of Unicatólica
There isn’t a metro in Cali. There aren’t any pools in Unicatólica Pance.

8. Prepositions of place. Read the following text about some places in Cali. Underline the words or
expressions you think make reference to a position in the map. Then, complete exercise a. using this
prepositions.

Cali is a wonderful place to visit. There are many museums, parks, shopping malls and places to read or
dance. People who like sports, for example, can go to the sportive area of the city. Canchas
panamericanas is one of the places on this area. Here people can just go and practice different kind of
sports like basketball or volleyball. It is located on 9 th street next to Liga Vallecaucana de Natación on the
right and in front of Encanto Floral florist. Also, Diamante de Sóftbol is behind this place.

9. Riddle: Find the secret places according to the following description.

starting point; you can use whether the red or blue arrow to start. Then, give your text to a classmate
so he/she finds it
