2021 DIVISION WOMEN’S MONTH CELEBRATION

1. Pursuant to Presidential Proclamations No. 224, 227, s. 1988 and Republic

Act No. 6949 s. 1990 declaring the first week of March as Women’s Week and
March 8 as Women’s Rights and and International Peace Day and providing
for the observance of the month of March as Women’s Role in History Month,
this Office joins the observance of 2021 National Women’s Month
Celebration (NWMC) with the theme: “WE Make CHANGE Work for Women”
from March 1-31, 2021.

2. The 2017-2022 NWMC generally aims to:

2.1 inform and engage women as stakeholders of government programs and
services promote citizen-centric governance and make “change” a
conscious effort to know, understand, and provide what ALL citizens need;
2.2 create and facilitate platforms to discuss good practices, gaps, challenges,
and commitments in pursuing gender and development (GAD) – to
strengthen implementation of the Magna Carta of Women; and
2.3 inspire and empower women and girls to be agents of change – to
contribute in promoting gender equality and the empowerment of all
women.

3. Schools are highly encouraged to conduct various activities to raise awareness

among all stakeholders about NWMC and contribute to the attainment of the
aforementioned objectives. A two-paged narrative report on the conduct of
activities with no more than 5 action photos must be submitted on or before
April 2, 2021 at sgod.lucena@deped.gov.ph.

4. Suggested activities were the following:

4.1 Produce information materials;

4.2 Hanging of the official 2021 NWMC banner in front of offices and
uploading to website and social media accounts
4.3 #PurpleMondays. Wear anything purple on all the Mondays of March or
even color your hoods with purple to signify support for women’s
empowerment and gender equality.
4.4 Online advocacy. Stakeholders can use the NWMC Facebook Profile
Frame that PCW will release in late February. They can also showcase
their activities online and join the online thread using
#WomenMakeChange.
4.5 Serbisyo para kay Juana. Give special treats like freebies, discounts,
special lanes, and other promos for women and girls.

5. Expenses relative to the conduct of this activity shall be charged to GAD fund
subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.

6. GAD focal person may visit the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW)
website https://pcw.gov.ph/2021-national-womens-month/ for more
information on the celebration of Women’s Month.
