The Body Shop International has many strong traits of strength that have catapulted
them into the limelight throughout the years. Their first strong strength revolves around
The Body Shop's lack of a traditional marketing strategy. Instead, their focus rests on a
viral marketing strategy where customers take the burden of advertising upon The Body
Shop and tell their friends. Entering the viral strategy requires customers that are willing
to go out of the way to "trade" and to tell their friends about the entire experience and
their incredible community supports this strategy.

The Body Shop 1.There is very little advertising of its products
Weaknesses 2. Due to franchisee system little control by the proprietors
3. Number of retail outlets limited which impacts sales volume

The number of online buyers are increasing and hence it can use its website portal for sale and
free delivery that will increase its market share.

 Pricing: Anita Roddick felt that customers would be willing to pay a


higher price for products with natural ingredients and during the early
years of business this was true. However, as competition picked up The
Body Shop struggled with high prices and lost a lot of business to
competitors.
