Students unsuccessful at achieving “Satisfactory” for any assessment at the first attempt will be given two
opportunities for reassessment. If the student is still deemed Not Yet Competent (NYC) after two

delivery of the course. For further details, refer to Australian School of Commerce Re-Assessment Policy
and Australian School of Commerce Course Progress Policy.

AT2- Project 1(You can choose another organisation topic for this assessment, which must be
approved by assessor.)
This assessment task will be completed by you at home in your own time. You will be given a brief
that will be read thoroughly and you will construct a research proposal by writing a report addressing
the CEO (Assessor)
Brief:
Part A
For this task, you are to understand that you work for ASOC (a fairly new RTO located at Melbourne,
CBD). The company CEO has just declared that ASOC is ready to expand further to Tasmania and
Sydney. Your task is to construct a research proposal on the following topics:
- Research on the potential risks that can be faced.
- Attracting potential clientele.
You are required to construct a research proposal addressing the CEO by writing a report in Word
format (printout to be provided)which includes the following:
2. Purpose: describe why the research is to be undertaken, and what benefit it could bring to the
organisation.
3. Hypothesis: the idea or assumption that will be tested by the research project
4. Research strategy: the strategy can only include research methods that can be performed in
the organisation within the timeline given.
5. Compliance: reference the sections of the company’s policy and procedures that apply to your
research project.
6. Ethical compliance: research relevant research ethics and codes of conduct and identify
those that have a direct bearing on the research project. Give a summary of these.
7. Target group: your target group’s profile and needs will depend on the following factors but
not limited to: potential clients which are the students in international market, domestic
students, etc.
8. Context: describe the context the research will be carried out in. That should include the
cultural, social, geographical or financial factors in which ASOC operates.
9. Research methods: review and describe at least three of each of the following:
11. Describe the technology (computers, electronic spreadsheets, etc.) and technology services
(internet, search engines etc.) you will use to support your data collection and analysis.
12. Sample size; give the number of samples that you intend to base your research on. Explain
how you arrived at that number and whether that is a valid sample size for the planned
project.
13. Data validity: describe how the research results will prove (or disprove) the original
hypothesis. Summarise any limitations that the research design could have on the validity of
the results and how that could be improved.
14. Data reliability: describe how reliable the results of the research should be, given the intended
sample size. Explain how the research design limits the reliability of the results and how that
could be improved.
15. Data integrity: describe how the integrity of the data collected and analysis tools used will
optimise the relevance of the research for the organisation.
You will retain the copy of the Research Proposal (Draft) for the next task.
