Is the Earth actually warming?

This has been the million dollar question for the past couple of
decades. Climate activists claim that the global warming is a reality and that it is us humans who are
causing it, by our increased use carbon dioxide. Those who disagree with this theory are labelled as
skeptics. These skeptics argue that warming is a natural phenomenon and the climate of the earth is
changing all the time. So is Global warming a flawed theory or is it a definite reality?

The main point behind the theory of global warming is that of carbondioxide. Climate activists argue
that CO2 is the main reason that the earth is warming and that the increase in the use of carbondioxide
will result in greater warming. Carbondioxide is an important gas which is used by plants to
photosynthesize and produce food. Carbondioxide accounts for 0.034% of the earth’s atmosphere and
of that only about 3% is generated by humans. These figures make us seriously doubt that man-made
CO2 has any real effect on the warming of our planet. In actual fact, there are studies which suggest
that the rise in temperature correlates to an increase in CO2 in the atmosphere. In the 1940s, during the
post-war economic boom, industrial activity was at all time high, which meant the use of CO2 was
soaring. During theses couple of decades the global temperatures fell rather than increasing. Since the
start of the 21st century the temperature of the earth has been declining when the emissions of CO2 in
this world are rising faster than ever before. The computer models which are used by climate
scientists to predict global temperatures failed to predict this occurance. There was also a time in the
past when the CO2 levels were as high as they are now, but the temperature change did not
correspond to the high levels of CO2 as claimed by climate activists . All this evidence clearly
suggests that the basis of the argument that CO2 causes Global warming is unfounded.

Throughout the history of this world there have been times when the earth was more warmer and
more colder than it is now. Since the end of the ice age about 20,000 years ago the temperature of the
earth has been rising slowly. The peak of this warm period was known as the ‘medieval warm period’
when the temperature rose to about 1.2 ºC than what they are today. This warm period was followed
by a little ice age between 1350-1800 when the temperature fell to about 1.2 ºC colder than today.
Again this was followed by a steady increase in temperature uptil 1940 when the earth cooled again
for about three decades. The history clearly shows that the climate of the earth fluctuates and gets
warmer or colder. These fluctuations are in fact related with the activity of the Sun and its cyclical
changes. Warming and cooling of the earth is mainly attributed to the sun’s magnetic field and the
sloar wind that comes from it.
