It’s good to know that you’ll be in the apartment while I’m away in Berlin. It’s in a
pretty safe area, but it’s reassuring to have you keeping an eye on things.

First, you need to know how to get into the building. When you arrive, press the
buzzer for number 15 – that’s my neighbor, Eric. He knows you’re coming and he’ll let
you in and hand over the keys to my apartment door. The next time you get into the
building, just enter the security number, which I’ll stick on the fridge. I’m on the third
floor so I don’t really care about windows being open.

There’s a load of stuff in the fridge and food cupboard so help yourself. But if you run
out, head down to the supermarket on the corner. Tuesday is bottle and tin collection
day, so would you mind putting them in the green recycling box, and then making sure
the box is outside on the pavement before 8pm? My neighbours are fairly easygoing,
but please keep things sweet by not playing load music or using the washing machine
after 9pm. Thanks!

As for getting around, all the good cafés and shops are just five minutes’ walk away
and the city centre is traffic-free, so I’d just use your legs! If you feel like going further,
Lake Constance is a brilliant place to visit: there are good rail connections, and you can
borrow my bike, too. I’ll leave some tourist information leaflets and train timetable in
the kitchen.

Get in touch if you need any more info.

Dear Chris,

I’m so glad to be hearing from you! Many thanks for writing, it’s has been ages since
the last time we saw each other.

It’s very good to know that you are coming to Shrewsbury! Although it’s pretty small,
you’ll love it. You need to know that there aren’t so many things to do, so it’s a good
thing that you don’t have many time-free. First, I would recommend you to go on the
iron bridge, since it’s a historical place and it’s interesting! You could do that on the
weekend, maybe, and then have lunch on one of the many restaurants near there. You
can take the bus as the connections are really good.

On the evenings, I would suggest you go to the Castle and to the centre, and you might
enter the new exposition in the market place! It’s about the forgotten women artists, I
think you will find it surprising! As I work outside the town during the week, I shouldn’t
arrive before 7 pm, but we can meet at any time after. Also, on your free-weekend for
sure, if you want.

Another plan that I strongly recommend you, is to go and have a picnic at Quarry’s
Park. It’s lovely being there and you may see some squirrels! But if you want to go
some further, I could go to Wales! It’s relatively near, but the weather could not be so
great! But for sure you have been there before, so maybe you prefer to stay in town.

Which day are you arriving? I’ll expect your answer and get in touch if you need more
info.

Lots of love,

Ps: regards to Julie!
