 If I walk into your classroom, how will I know this is a catholic school?
o Prayer table
o Begin each class with a reflection: first formal prayer, then others (song)
o “Ignation Educator’s Prayer”

1. Silence is your friend- don’t talk over your students


2. Don’t ever repeat a student’s answer- ask another student to repeat the answer given
3. Set your expectations for your classroom on your first day- children like structure
4. Set assignment distribution date and due date
5. Religion: you are not to give your personal opinion
o It is essential your students question their faith, accept it, that is when faith begins

Elements of Prayer Table:


1. Must be changed regularly
2. Green table cloth (white at Christmas)
3. Advent or Lent celebration NOT Christmas and Easter
4. Picture Bible
5. Ask 2 or 3 students to come to prayer jar, pull out stick that has what we would like to
pray for, read it out loud
6. Cross
7. Statue of Mary
8. CGE (textbook)
9. Rosary
10. Candles (no open flames)

 It must be made clear the first day of the school year that they are responsible not only
for their behaviour in the classroom and the school but also for providing evidence of
their achievement of the overall expectations within the time frame specified by the
teacher, and in a form approved by the teacher
