How to convert excel to SPSS:

File-Open-Data-Files of type(Select Excel)-select file name – Click OK.

Missing Value: Analyze- Descriptive – Frequency- shift the required variable to


right side-click ok

How to detect missing value to 9?


Go to variable view-select in the type of variable –missing values—select
discrete missing values—Add ‘9’’

To find all missing places with a numerical


Transform—recode into same variable-select whichever variables has missing
values—click old and new value—select “system or user missing”---new value
—enter any value—click add—click continue—click ok

Turn Gender values into M,F


Go to variable view—Select variable column in gender---Write value as 1 and
label as F---add it , Again Value as 2 and label as M—Click Add ---Click ‘OK’-
After this click on TOGGLE switch to see the changed result.

To convert a range of numbers into blank:


Go to Transform—Recode into same variable—select the required ‘numeric
variables’—select old and new value—select range—type the range(for
example 2 through 99) -select system missing on the right side(remove other
things above-select and click remove) --- click continue—click OK.

Creating Graphs :
Go to Graphs—Go to chart builder—Select OK—A window opens asking the
type of chart for example bar, line, pie etc. –select one and drag to above—
now drag the variables to x-axis and drag the variables to y-axis—click ok—we
get the graph in output window.

How to replace copied file name to our name:


Edit—Replace—Filename: Shambhavi to replace with: Vineetha ---Click replace
all.

Outliers
Go to analysis-Descriptive Statistics-Explore-We have one row-Put that 'data'
right side into dependent list--Click ok--Outlier graph will come

Chi square:
Analyze-Descriptive statistics-Crosstabs--Select one row and column--Choose
the variables one in column one in row--Go to 'cells'--Select both 'observed'
and 'expected'--Click continue--Then select statistics--Click on chi square--
Select phi and cramers v--Then continue--Then ok--Then u will get a chi square
test

For editing the graph (To put equations in line):


Double click on that output--A box will come--Options reference line from
equations--Tick the box attach label to line--Then apply--Close it--We will get
equation

Mean –
1. Select transform
2. Select Replace Missing Values
3. Select the name for which the operation has to be done and select ok.
