BOW (in Bleu Layette)
Start 3 sc in a magic ring, 3 dc into the ring, ch 3, sl st
into the ring, ch 3, 3 dc into the ring, ch 3, sl st into the
ring.
Pull the ring close and fasten off, wind the tail around the
middle of the bow a couple of times and knot the ends
on the back side of the bow.
ASSEMBLY OF SYLVIE
1. Use silver yarn and sew vertical lines in the front of
the singlet as shown in Picture 3. Each line is sewn
over two rows and each line is ~2 st apart from the
next line.

2. Sew the arms to the body between Rnd 16 and 17 of
the body, 7 st apart in the front.
3. Pull the singlet through the arms over the body, as
you would wearing a shirt. Note to do this before
sewing the body to the head.
4. Sew the body to the head.
5. Sew the ears to the head. I first use pins to mark the
positions of the bottom corners of the ears. The
inside corners of the ears should sit between Rnd 2
and 3, the outside corners of the ears should sit
between Rnd 10 and 11 (Picture 4). Use blusher and
colour the inside of the ears pink (see Picture 1).

6. Sew the blue bow to the outside corner of the right
ear.
7. Attach the shoelaces to the feet. Thread the blue
satin ribbon through the FLO left from Rnd 6 and 7
of the legs (Picture 5). Criss cross the ribbon in the
front and tie a bow in the front of the leg (Picture 6).

8. Cut out 2 circles of pink felt approximately 6 mm in
diameter and use fabric glue to attach over Rnd 16
and 17 just outside the eyes for Sylvie’s rosy cheeks
(see Picture 1).
3. Place the elastic from Step 1 around any cylindrical
container. Fold 3 pieces of cut tulle strips together in
half, pass it under the elastic and pull the tails
through the loop (Pictures 9 and 10). Continue doing
so till all of the elastic is covered in tulle. Always tie

TUTU (in Blue tulle)

1. With 3 mm elastic, measure out an appropriate

length such that it fits snugly (not too tightly) around
Sylvie’s waist over her singlet. I have my tutu sit at

together with thread (Picture 7).

4. Your no-sew tutu is all done! Slip the tutu on around

Sylvie’s waist.

2. For Sylvie’s size created using the materials

described in this pattern, cut a 5 cm wide piece of
cardboard that will be the approximate length of her
tutu. Wind the 6-inch tulle roll around this cardboard
and cut along one edge. The length of the cut tulle
should therefore be 2 x 5 = 10 cm. Then cut this tulle
into ~2.5 cm wide pieces (Picture 8).
