Universal Design for Learning (UDL): I will address the Universal Design for Learning principles by letting the
students create a weekly diary. This will allow students to physically interact with an instructional technology
tool while learning things about their health. It will encourage students to strengthen their problem-solving
skills and creativity. This is a purposeful task that will allow for active participation, exploration, and
experimentation.
Lesson idea implementation: In about 10 minutes, students will be told what they are doing for the day and
ask any questions that they may have. The teacher will tell the students to think of something important to
them that they do throughout the week. Whatever that is, the students will analyze and represent the data
using an advanced productivity tool. Students will be given a tablet, laptop, or any technology device. They
will be told to go to the Soturi website and sign in or make an account. They will make a weekly diary
(Monday through Friday) to track something that is important to their health. For example, they could track
what they eat or even list their feelings throughout each day. The students will also find a fun educational
video on what they are tracking and add it into their Sutori journal. The teacher will walk around and provide
congruent feedback to the students by giving them tips on how to improve their Soturi. This project will take
5 days to complete. On the 5th day, the students will write a weekly reflection. They will talk about how the
weekly journal did or did not benefit them. If the students are comfortable with it, the teacher will have them
share their thoughts about this project with the class. The teacher will conclude the lesson by letting someone
volunteer to present their journal to the class. Presentations will allow students to get different ideas on how
to use Soturi for other projects that they may do in the future.
Reflective Practice: Soturi will impact students learning greatly because it will provide them with another way
to get creative with their projects. According to Soturi, students will foster research and inquiry, critical
thinking, and collaboration. This website will allow students to analyze the data that they track throughout
the week. This will help them understand and manage their lifestyles choices. It will teach them ways to work

towards a better quality of life. The goal of this lesson is to encourage students to apply this technology skill
to their life. Soturi is a website that will be available to them outside of school. To further extend this lesson,
students could track their data for longer than 5 days. They could do it for 2 weeks or even a whole month.
Other technology tools that could further enhance this project are Stormboard and Gianl.ly. Stormboard is a
website where students can capture, store, and organize their ideas. Gianl.ly is an interactive website that
allows students to create presentations, visuals, and infographics to represent data.
