The Philippine Government’s Subsidy Given to all Filipinos

The first human cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus causing
COVID-19, subsequently named SARS-CoV-2 were first reported by officials in Wuhan City, China, in
December 2019. The symptoms can include fever, cough and shortness of breath. In more severe cases,
infection can cause pneumonia or breathing difficulties. The virus is transmitted through direct contact
with respiratory droplets of an infected person. Individuals can also be infected from and touching
surfaces contaminated with the virus and touching their face. To slowed down the spreading of the virus
the Philippines government responded to both development by a declaring a community quarantine in the
whole island of Luzon and country and ordered to stay at home. The enhanced community quarantine
consisted of strict home quarantine, suspension of all forms of public transportation, and temporary
closure of non-essential business establishments. Because of that, the fellow Filipino has loss of income
and business income is terminated in this time of pandemic lockdown.

The pandemic affects the all aspects of society, particularly income and employment of all
family. The unemployment in the country rate in April 2020, leaving 7.3 million Filipinos jobless.
According to the World Bank, the two-month loss of income could increase the poverty rate by 3.3
percentage points in the Philippines. The Philippines has implemented cash transfer programs to support
the displaced and the vulnerable. This is called Social Amelioration Program that providing cash to
eighteen (18) million household beneficiaries, In the amount of at least five thousand to a maximum of
Eight Thousand Pesos per two months for basic foods, medicine and toiletries. They target beneficiaries
shall be low-income households, or those in subsistence economy or workers in the informal economy
The DSWD shall ensure of safety nets and implementation of social amelioration programs that shall
serve as subsidy for the most affected families and individuals

The social Amelioration program was a big help to all families in the country that the most
affected by the pandemic. They survive the pandemic because of that, they afford to buy their basic needs
during pandemic and to have a healthy food on their table in the midst of pandemic. The government
provide some free food and medicine to lessen their expenses during pandemic. The vitamins their give is
to boost everyone immune system to fight and protect in the virus. We can heal as one by helping to each
other. Never give up in our life always remember we can survive in Jesus Christ.
