To find the best solution for that situation, starting in 2019 SIKK and SEAMOLEC
developed a distance learning model which is blended learning. Using this method,
learning activities are not only carried out through face to face directly at CLC, but
most of the learning activities are carried out independently using an LMS (Learning
Management System) that can be accessed online by the students.

The LMS application platform used is a web-based application and can be accessed
through the page http://lms.sikk.sch.id/. Students will access online classes in
the LMS to study learning materials independently. The SIKK teachers manages
the class activities, including learning process, assessment, learning outcomes,
and other administrative systems. To manage online classes in the LMS, teachers
must have the competence to manage online learning, one of which is the ability to
compile digital learning material presented through the LMS Platform.

Two training programmes were provided by SEAMOLEC specially designed for

SIKK teachers. The first training was held face to face in November 2019 at SIKK,
Malaysia. Another one is held June 2020 in online mode via video conference.

The Headmaster of SIKK School, Dadang Hermawan, M.Ed hopes that the distance
learning programme using this LMS system will be a pilot for the Virtual High School
programme, and that more Indonesian children in Sabah will have access to quality
education.

Indonesian School in Kota Kinabalu (SIKK) is located in Sabah region, Malaysia. To provide educational services for Indonesian
children in the Sabah region, SIKK not only organizes a regular face to face education programs but also serves as the main
school for the 273 CLCs (Community Learning Centers) that organize education remotely and throughout the Sabah region.

Students who participate in education at SIKK and its CLCs are Indonesian children who live in Sabah region. Geographically
these children live very far from SIKK so they cannot attend the regular face to face learning. In addition, most of the students
are working at oil palm plantation, so they find it difficult to go to school and do learning activities according to the regular
learning schedule provided by SIKK. On the other hand, they still have the motivation to study.
