 What did you learn about your partner?

Mehdi is a determined person with a known purpose and a known path he has to
follow to achieve his purpose.

 What surprised you?

I did not expect him to be as motivated and career driven as I found out he was. He
had a specific goal in mind of becoming an educator and had planned out the entire
path that would lead to this.

 What would you have missed if you hadn’t asked why?

Mehdi’s approach to life is not very money oriented and he believes others to have a
similar goal. If I hadn’t asked why I would not have found out about his narrow
perspective to life.

 Why do you think interview is an important tool for building empathy and getting
deeper insights?

One learns about the others emotion through digging deep and meaningfully. Once
you discover emotion you can identify the other person as a human being with a
soul and that goes a long way in creating an empathic connection.
