Constitution and By-Laws

ARTICLE I: NAME & PURPOSE


Section A: Name – Greenbriar Woodlands Golf Association hereinafter referred to as
Association

Section B: Purpose – The purpose of the club shall be:

1. To stimulate interest in golf at the Association golf course by bringing together a


group of golfers with desire of maintaining a golfing organization

2. To encourage conformance to the “Golf Rules and Regulations” of the Association

3. To maintain a uniform system of handicapping based on the “Golf Rules and


Regulations” of the Association

4. To provide an authoritative body to govern and conduct Association competitions

5. To prepare the members to become involved in the finances, management and


administration of the golf course and its operation

6. Conduct regularly scheduled monthly meetings and Golf Executive Board meetings

ARTICLE II: MEMBERSHIP & DUES

Section A: Eligibility – Membership in the Association shall be available as outlined in the


“Rules and Regulations” of the Association

Section B: Dues – Dues shall be determined by the Community Association Board each year

ARTICLE III: OFFICERS

Section A: Officers - The Association Golf Executive Board shall be a President, Vice-President,
Secretary and Treasurer

Section B: Eligibility – Officers must be a current member of the Association, and a resident.

Section C: Election – The officers shall be elected by nomination and/or ballot at the October
meeting

Section D: Term - The officers shall serve for one year and their term of office shall begin on
December 1

Section E: Vacancy – If a vacancy occurs in the office of President, the Vice-President shall
assume the office for the remainder of the term and vacancies in any other office shall be filled
by a special election

ARTICLE IV: DUTIES OF OFFICERS

Section A: President – It shall be the duty of the President to:


 Preside at meetings
 Vote only in case of a tie
 Represent the club and oversee all committees
 Appoint committee chairpersons subject to the approval of the Executive
Committee
 Serve as an ex-officio member of all committees except the nominating
committee
 Write all articles for the Pine Cone Press

Section B: Vice-President – It shall be the duty of the Vice President to:


 Preside in the absence of the President
 Work with various Committees as required

Section C: - Secretary – It shall be the duty of the Secretary to:


 Record the minutes of all meetings
 Keep a file of the club’s records
 Maintain a current roster of membership
 Issue notices of meetings and conduct the general correspondence of the club

Section D: Treasurer – It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to:


 Receive all funds and process Request for Payment, Deposit Slip and Officer
Signature Forms
 Keep an itemized account of all receipts and expenditures and make reports
monthly

ARTICLE V: MEETINGS

Section A: Meetings – Regular meetings shall be held monthly during the regular golf season

Section B: Special Meetings – Special meetings may be called by the President with the
approval of the Golf Executive Committee

Section C: Parliamentary Authority – Robert’s Rules of Orders, shall govern this club in all cases
to which they are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with these by-laws

ARTICLE VI: GOLF EXECUTIVE BOARD COMMITTEE

Section A: Responsibility - Management of this club shall be vested in the Golf Executive
Committee to the entire membership to uphold these by-laws

Section B: Membership – This committee shall consist of the officers as listed in Article III

Section C: Meetings – This committee shall meet monthly on the Monday prior to a regular
meeting

ARTICLE VII: COMMITTEES

Section A: Monthly Tournaments- To organize and direct all Monthly Tournaments and will
enlist members to assist in the smooth operation of the event.

Section B: Greens – Report the condition of the Putting Green, Tee Boxes and the condition of
the Golf Course to the Golf Superintendent.

Section C: Ranger – Set the rules and responsibilities for the functioning of the Rangers. To
provide coverage of the Golf Course during Memorial Day thru September 31.

Section D: Men’s League – Schedule an annual meeting, establishes the rules of competition
make golfer assignments and prepare the season schedule. Maintain By-Laws.

Section E: Women of Woodlands (WOW’s) – Schedule an annual meeting, organize committees


to prepare the season schedule. Maintain By-Laws.

Section F: Mixed League – Schedule an annual meeting establishes the rules of competition and
prepares the season schedule. Maintain By-Laws.

Section G: Membership – Will promote membership in the Association, assist the President
regarding issues that may arise concerning members and maintain a list of current members.

Section H: Handicaps – Maintain and post monthly handicaps.

Section I: Advertising – Provide posters for all Monthly Tournaments for information alley, Pine
Cone Press and Golf Shop.

Section J: Club Championship – Provide information and sign-ups for all Members regardless of
handicap. To establish rules of competition and schedule flight competition for all interested
members.

Section K: Rules – To revise and maintain the “Rules and Regulations” as needed.

Section L: Historian – To maintain records of league winners and keep all plaques up to date in
the Golf Shop. To recruit and submit all nominees for office at the October meeting.

Section M: Hostess – To provide beverages and snacks, at the cost of the Association, at the
monthly meetings.

Section N: Photographer – To take pictures at all major events and provide copies to the
President and Historian as needed.

Section O: Tournament Hostess – To setup and provide breakfast and lunch, at the cost of the
Tournament, after monthly tournaments.

ARTICLE VIII: AMENDMENTS

Section A: Selection – These By-Laws may be repealed or amended by the Golf Executive Board
as recommended by the members as outlined in ARTICLE II. Any changes or additions that
require approval of the Community Association Board shall be forwarded to the Board for their
approval.

Section B: 50/50 Raffle – Proceeds from 50/50 would be put back into the club. If the
Association were to be dissolved, any balance remaining from these raffles will be donated to
the community.
