- In the 1980’s the SWOT analysis was used in the Small
and Medium Enterprises development and the creation
of business and marketing plans.
- In the 1990’s the SWOT method was also used in
regional development, project formulation and the
social marketing of Non Governmental Organizations.
- After the 1990's, the criticisms directed to the concept
of strategic planning were also directed to SWOT
Analysis. These criticisms contributed to the
development of SWOT Analysis.
