Spartacus

Spartacus was born in 109 BC in Thrase which is now located in Greece,

Bulgaria and Turkey. Many slaves were brought to Rome to work in the
mines, fields or to fight for entertainment. History suggests that he was
an auxiliary in the roman army which was like a volunteer solider. It is
possible that he deserted or committed a crime which led him to be sold
as a slave.

Then he was brought to a gladiator school in Capula which was really

harsh and unforgiving. New recruits were forced to swear an oath to
follow the masters will and to sacrifice their life. But even this hard
discipline couldn’t stop Spartacus’s will to seek freedom.

In 73 BC, Spartacus and 78 other slaves and seized knives and skewers
from the kitchen and fought their way out, and hijacked a wagon full of
wagons and equipment along their way and went to fight for freedom.

The news was sent to Rome but the senate was busy with wars in Spain
and the Phontic empire. Unconcerned, the senate sent an army of 3’000
men to mount Vesuvius which the refugees ran off to, and planned to
block the only passage down the mount waited for them to die in hunger.
But Spartacus and his men made ropes from vines at night which were
plenty of them on the mount and lowered themselves down the cliff and
wiped the 3000 men army with surprise attack.

They then continued their journey and recruited many poor farmers, peasants, herdsman with lack of fighting experience and
lifted their number to 120’000 and trained them for battle. They soon had fought several army the senate had sent, and were
buried to the ground. Later they reached the border of the Roman empire and were able to escape which Spartacus really
wanted, but his army was cocky that they wanted to roll over Rome. After this, the senate sent his big army consisting of 2
groups of 3000 men which were the best of the best gladiators.

Not long after that, Spartacus’s army split into 2 groups which one of them was lead by himself and the other by one of his
“comrade” and split their way into 2. The “comrades” army got wiped by the roman army, and after Spartacus heard the news,
he honored him and made their 300 slave roman soldiers to fight each other like the way Spartacus used to fight in gladiator
school. The roman empire later caught them at the toe of Italy when Spartacus and his army betrayed by the pirates and been
surrounded. This was his last moment of his life, but even after 2000 years his legacy is still echoing about group of slaves lead
by him trembled one of the best empire in history.
