Assignment 1

You are the Talent Acquisition Manager of an MNC. Due to COVID-19 pandemic companies across
the industry are passing through a tough time and your company is not an exception. There are
some performance related issues in the sales department and they urgently need a middle level
manager. Rajiv has applied for the position along with some other candidates. You found Rajiv’s
skills to be perfectly in match with the job requirements. But your organization can only give 30k
incentives to Rajiv. He seems dissatisfied with his package and hence is delaying in giving his
acceptance offer. He is open for a negotiation. What would your approach in negotiation and how
you are going to convince him to accept the offer.

My Solution:

I will do the negotiation step by step which means I will not be showing all the offers or the benefits
that we are willing to provide at the same time. I will slowly add on to the list so that he feels that
the company is taking the extra effort to go beyond the norm because we value him that much or
else it may happen that if we put all the cards on the table in the first try he might expect even more
which will be out of our budget and then we will have to let him go.

First, I will make sure he understood the market condition during this pandemic, and to assure him
as well that if he passes on this offer he might not find a better one for the time being at least. If he
requires even more persuasion I will offer him the option of expatriate in one of the most affluents
country headquarters which will come with a higher package and higher incentives. I can also offer
him a paid holiday trip to countries like Thailand or Vietnam etc. after the situation goes back to
normal which will cost the company less but will help convince Rajiv. Apart from that I will give him
a stock option under which after the first year of joining the company he will be getting say a
hundred shares and then fifty shares every year which he can vest after a 5 year period, this will not
only help me in acquiring him but also retaining him._
