In sectional warping equal length of yarn is first wound in

small section or sheets on a drum .Then from the it is
transferred to the beam .By this process we directly get the
weavers beam . This is a two stage method and is used for
making fancy fabric .

It is also known as:

 Indirect warping
 Pattern warping
 Band warping
 Drum warping
5 Features of sectional warping :

 This is suitable for making checked , stripped or other fancy

fabric
 Hand weaving used in sectional warping
 To control uniform tension is very difficult .
 It consist two process- First is warping on drum & second is
beaming.
 To produce weavers beam from small amount of yarn
 Size is applied before warping
 Weavers beam can be found immediately after warping
 Low production. So, costly process.

10 Working Procedure of Sectional Warping
Machine in Textile Weaving
 Yarn ends supplied from creel are spaced very closely and thus
form a warp sheet. This sheet is wound on a beam. The width of the
beam between flanges is equal to the loom warp set width of the
section sheet. The no. of section beams is determined by respective
no. of ends in the section and the complete warp.
 Each such sheet of warp ends is called a section.
 Stability of the yarn build of the first section on the reel is obtained
by moving the section sheet laterally at a regular rate fitted at one
end of reel.
11  When the first section is completed, then the others of its
build on the drum is replica of the original incline
sections to the number required for the complete warp
are wound on the next section.
 Fancy warps are prepared by dressing yarn packages in
the creel for each section in conformity with warp
pattern plan.
 Section sheets are attached to a beam and withdrawn
simultaneously from the reel by rotation of the beam.
For winding the warp on to the beam, this unrolling is
controlled to provide accurate warp tension in textile
weaving
.
12

 As beaming off proceeds, the warp beam is moved laterally at

the same ate but in the direction opposite to that of the section
during warping . This confirms that the complete warp sheet
runs from the reel to between the beam flanges without the
necessity for lateral deviation

Product Description
During sectional warping the warp quality is determined, which is
one of the crucial factors for an ideal weaving result.
Technical Details:
•Useful working width: 2200 to 3800 (Steps 200 mm)
•Warping beam diameter: 800 mm, 1000 mm, 1250 mm
•Maximum speed warping: 1000 m/ min
•Tensile force warping: 800 N, 1600 N
Applications:
•Shirting, bottom weights, home textiles and apparels
14
Key Features:
•Maximum Flexibility - suitable for staple yarn to filament
yarns
•Ergotec eliminates lost ends
•Short running -on distance and evening at the running -on
point
•Automatic section tension control-guarantees identical
bands with minimal yarn tension
•Controlled uniform tension throughout the whole length of
the warp
•Flexible beaming unit
•Raw Material: 100% cotton, regenerated, synthetic, wool
and their blends
15
Other typical features of a modern sectional warpers are:

 Feeler roller to apply material specific pressure to obtain exact

cylindrical warp buildup
 Lease and sizing band magazines
 Constant warp tension over the full warp width
 Automatic section positioning width photo-optical section width
measurement
 Pneumatic stop brakes
 Warp tension regulation for uniform buildup
 Automatic warp beam loading , doffing and chucking
16 Advantages of sectional warping

1. Wastage can be reduce and ready weavers beam be obtained

and Small amount of yarn is required to produce
2. Beam can be found immediately
3. To produce fancy fabric

Disadvantages of sectional warping

1. Less productive and slow

2. The yarn tension is less uniform than high speed warping
3. Less efficient than high speed warping
SECTIONAL WARPING CALCULATIONS:

17
Generally, sectional warping is used to make Weaver’s beams of multi plies yarn.
The Weaver’s beam having stripes pattern of single ply yarn is also made on
sectional warping machine.
The fabric parameters required to make a beam on sectional warping machine
are given below:
EPI = 52
Fabric width = 84 inches
Warp regain = 11℅
Reed space = 87.36 inches
Fabric length = 1000 metres
Warp length = ?
Beam width = ?
Creel capacity = 240( maximum)
Section width = ?
Total number of sections = ?
Total ends = ?
18 SECTIONAL WARPING CALCULATIONS:

Now we will discuss about warping Calculations

Total ends = EPI x fabric width (inches)

= 52 x 84
= 4368 ends

Beam width = reed space( mm) +20 mm

= (87.36 x 25.4) mm + 20 mm
= 2218.94 mm + 20 mm
= 2238.94 mm
= 2239 mm ( beam width)
